Waiting for the Trudeau Jnr GST increase

Recommended Posts

I reckon that it won't happen. But then, in Europe, they pay a 20% VAT or more.

Trudeau Jnr (Morneau?) may be tempted but I reckon that he won't. (Each 1% increase in the GST is about $5 or 6 billion more in revenue for federal bureaucrats.)

====

If the Montreal/Toronto (English/French) media start to talk about VAT, and how Canada's GST is low, then you know what is next...

To increase the GST has been talked about on the political news shows wondering IF the feds would do it. Harper cut it and it help the Tories go into a deficit which cost taxpayers more in interest, so IF it helps pay for the tx cuts, so be it, this has no winning solution either way for a government , if they do or don't.

But Small C I live in ONT any savings that we got from harper was taken by the ONT libs. So we have a carbon tax and ONT is going to go ahead with it pension plan which will kill many small business and cost jobs. These people will just not listen, they are so horny for money they just don't care. And our hydro is going up another 10% on jan 1st.

Right now we have the BoC talking about the possibility of negative interest rates to stimulate the economy and others saying government should take more money from people's pockets by increasing the GST. It's enough to make your head spin. Clearly there is a lack of understanding here and a refusal to acknowledge that governments need to live within their means like everyone else.

That is not the least bit 'progressive'. Get with the program or face re-education.

Is there a government anywhere on the planet actually doing this?

Maybe what people are refusing to acknowledge is that it's impossible.

On the other hand, for the next 3 years, Ontario's economy will grow at the second fastest rate in Canada.

Says who? Lol. Ontario's economy is literally in a free fall. Its shrinking rapidly and if anyone wants to deny that its foolish. Ontario is now a have not province and will remain that way for years to come. Manufacturing processes in Ontario have left and will continue to leave due to high taxes and wages.

Slave labour easily replaces workers in Ontario elsewhere.

Free trade with the pacific will cause as well short term loss for the next 5 to 10 years before Ontario and Canada readjust. In the long term it will do better but not short term. Ontario is turning into an envrionment of specialized technology that requires extended continuing and regular education followed by short term contracts for employees. The days of permanent work are over in Ontario. As the boomers die out their jobs are replaced with contracts to avoid medical cafe, benefits of any kind even paid vacations.

To say Ontario's economy is growing is a crock. What has grown are part-time minimum wage temporary positions and contract positions. The stats are a joke that the provincial government uses.

When carbon tax comes in as a new excuse to tax the remaining businesses, another devaluation and shrinkage and exoodus will begin.

Look carefully The world sold itself out to India and China pollution and cheap abour as well as thid world cheap labour sources which Canada will now subsidize. We will pay a carbon tax to poor nations that the poor will never see, just corupt brutal dictators.

Its possible if you let me take over.I will start with you and your excessive manicures. Seriously, you are right There is not one nation that is not in a deficit spiral where the interest rate alone on the debt is so high the nation can balance it books. It does not exist. I challenge anyone to find such a country.

Probably won't happen.

More likely will happen. Around 2017, when this profligate federal government is facing deficits near $40 billion and needs the money.

=====

Harper was hated because he said No. Hair? At present, Trudeau Jnr is loved because he says Yes.

Rue - says the Conference Board.

Next year comes a 15% increase in electricity rates, increased taxes, and information about how much additional taxes the Ontario Liberals are going to take in the form of carbon taxes, which will certainly not be encouraging business to expand.
