jacee Posted November 28, 2014 Report Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) We have due process in this country. People must be found guilty. We must have evidence. I don't like that many peoiple are claiming him to be guilty before he has even had a trial. I pray to God that everyone here never has to deal with anything like this.Pray that no woman ever has to deal with Ghomeshi again. "Life" sounds good. He'll do rough time. Wish they could put him in womens' gen pop. We all know that a woman can make up anything at allPerps can make up anything at all. Perp talk ----> Perp walk. and Lord knows that the police will believe them and just arrest the man. Even without any proof at all, just take her word for it. Hmm ... any police want to comment on that?I thank God everyday that some lying woman has never done this to me....Don't fret. Your time may come yet. You'll have to go some to catch up to Ghomeshi's count, though. Odd how that one poor man attracted so many 'lying women'. but you never know what will happen tomorrow so we always have to be on guard and try to cover yourself so that nothing bad can happen. You mean get consent if you want to hit and choke a woman? :/ CBC has said it decided to terminate his employment after seeing "graphic evidence" that he had physically injured a woman. Ghomeshi admitted in a lengthy Facebook post, published on the day he was fired, that he engaged in "rough sex," but insisted his encounters with women were consensual.Since his dismissal, nine women have come forward with allegations ... ReeferMadness Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 What a sad day for Canada's state broadcaster. This is what $1 billion in taxpayer dollars supported each year. And what of the $10 billion dollar NFL supported by taxpayer and ticket sales alike? You can punch your wife out and after a suspension of a couple of games, carry on like it never happened. This happened at the CBC - but don't think for a second it is limited to the CBC. Lots of women love nasty, violent men. Bernardo still gets love letters from female fans. Even old man Manson has a young hotty that wants to marry him. The NFL is not a state broadcaster like the CBC, sponsored...controlled...and financed by Canadian taxpayers. Nice try.... Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Would have been a nice try if you'd have left "controlled" out of the statement, but we won't hold our breath waiting for that to ever happen. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 The killer thing is that Ghomeshi used his "fame" as an employee for a state broadcaster radio program, while the CBC seemingly ignored his sexual harassment in the workplace. Maybe the CBC couldn't afford the HR training we get every year. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

And the NFL is financed by American taxpayers. I'm sure this is somehow relevant - perhaps you could help us figure out what point it is you're trying to make. I'm sure this is somehow relevant - perhaps you could help us figure out what point it is you're trying to make. My point stands regardless of feeble attempts to justify the Canadian state broadcaster's role in the sordid Ghomeshi affair. NFL financing and taxpayer ownership of stadia by the public is not the same protected "institution" as the CBC. The NFL does not get $1 billion per year...every year...for crappy programming and sexual predators. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

eyeball Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 NFL financing and taxpayer ownership of stadia by the public is not the same protected "institution" as the CBC. That's right, influence over a broadcaster's funding by the state and a broadcaster's influence over where a state's funds end up are definitely not the same thing. Different topics not to be conflated. The NFL can pay for broadcast advantages based on programming and product revenue streams. They make so much money they could even afford to loan money to the CFL in the late 90's ! What did the CBC know...and when did they know it ? bush_cheney2004 Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 CBC management knew or should have known about allegations of this employee's sexual harassment and hostile work environment. The state broadcaster protected this guy until he self destructed and his behaviour couldn't be hidden/denied any longer. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
BubberMiley Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 After watching the 5th Estate, I don't think there was any actionable information that the state broadcaster could have went with. What little info they had was vague and hearsay and it would have been irresponsible of them to do much of anything based on that. But once they had concrete evidence that the rumours were true, they acted immediately. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
bush_cheney2004 Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 CNC management chose not to take action expressly because it could hide behind "vague and hearsay" allegations while keeping the ratings high. CBC management did not aggressively pursue the matter lest it find actionable evidence. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
BubberMiley Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 Being a state-controlled broadcaster, the CBC (not CNC) doesn't need to concern itself with ratings, even if they are high, which they never are. Unfortunately they don't have the investigative power of the police, which any self-respecting state agency really should have. bush_cheney2004 Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) Obviously this state broadcaster was/is unable to investigate the matter objectively. A separate, independent investigation should be conducted. ...The CBC’s own The Fifth Estate reported last week that the CBC executives did not ask a single Q employee a single question in its investigation into Ghomeshi.
