I never said I was disgusted. Now you people are just making things up. Regardless, one can be fully grown up and yet still find something unattractive. Despite what the attractive police have to say about it. The "grow up" response is just code for sit down, be quiet, and find what we think is attractive, attractive. Well, you will never silence me. I will speak my mind. Deal with it, and grow up.

You said the act of two guys kissing is gross. Meaning it disgusts you. You can speak your mind, but at least be consistent about it. Otherwise you are going (and have gotten) tripped up by other members calling out the inconsistencies of your stance/rhetoric.

Plus some teams wouldn't want the possible distraction.

Yea....they' much rather have murderers, sex assaulters, misogymist meatheads, drunks and drunk drivers, assault folks cuz you know, that aint a distraction.

You have a weird mind that allows hypocrisy to rule up there..

It's the media attention. I follow the NFL pretty closely and the media circus (like we see with one Johnny Manziel) has never really materialized around Sam. There has been attention but not a whole heck of a lot. I'm sure the only reason their game was on the NFL Network on Saturday was because of Sam.

Tim Tebow got a lot more attention and would continue to get attention, if a team gave him a shot. Which is why we have re-treads like Rex Grossman, Brady Quinn, Blaine Gabbert making NFL rosters but no one will entertain signing Tebow.

Since the Rams really don't need Sam, it'll be interesting to see if he does clear waivers if he's cut. I'm sure there are more defensively challenged teams that could use him, and now they won't have to burn a draft pick on him.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have spoken the truth. I should've just pretended to protect your delicate sensibilities.

Let me know when you do, so far....not.But relax, your hypocrisy is well noted.

I said that the kiss was kind of gross, much of it due to the cake. Disgusted is a subjective term which I find to be a level above gross, but everyone had their own opinions of that.

Oh, well , let me explain. Not that I need to considering your propensity for disingenuity.

You figure Sam may be a distraction, but any given team seems not to have an issue with employing...

wife beaters

drunks

assaulters

misogynists

and the list goes on.

But Oh My Gawd....a gay man? Stop the presses, call out the dogs, there could be a gay man around and that is a HUGE distraction.

Perhaps you misunderstood. It's not me that's stopping the presses, or calling out the dogs. It's the media. They're fascinated with him. The media circus is the distraction, not Sam himself. Understand now? :)

Now you're just bickering for the sake of bickering. Anybody that follows the NFL knows what's going on, and what I've stated is true. Enough already.

Keep on weaseling.

What homophobia? Your intolerance of other people's views and opinions is astounding.

Yours. Own it.Only the stupid ones.Hmmm.....

I'm not homophobic. I'm sorry you feel this way. My facts regarding him clearing waivers are not homophobic. The accusation of homophobia is the last desperate attempt to save a failing argument. Come up with something better. I know you can!

I'm not homophobic.

You keep saying that.

You protest too much.

Whether you are or are not, this thread started with how gross you found the kiss. Thinly veiled feelings to be frank.

Wonder why that is. Certainly isnt because a guy got drafted, but a homosexual guy got drafted.

There's heterosexual couples I've seen kiss that I thought were gross. Does that make me heterophobic? Your pathetic name calling is absurd. You can't have a legitimate discussion on actual issues. So you just throw around names and accusations. Pathetic.

Start a thread then, but you wont.

Your pathetic name calling is absurd. You can't have a legitimate discussion on actual issues.

Sure you can,we can have lots of legit discussions, but your hall monitor juvenile attitude precludes that for the most part.

See one doesnt start a thread with the opening paragraph having nothing to do with him being drafted but all about how grossed out you were to be seeing him kiss.

And then the second paragraph , also having nothing to do with him being drafted, is all about how grossed out you are...again nothing to do with his talent nor anything else to do with football. Nothing about how hard it may be in the macho world of sport.

You are on record for saying he'll likely be a disrupting factor, wilfully ignoring the elephant in the room as nothing to worry about, cuz you know a murderer, dog beater/fighter,sex assault practitioner is so much better and less disruptive than a gay guy.

So if you are not what you have been accused of being , for that I would apologize, but really , when one reads the title of this thread and then the body of the OP , its pretty easy to see that you have an agenda, and likely a homosexual paranoid agenda.

But no way no how could anyone consider that homophobic....no way.

My facts regarding him clearing waivers are not homophobic.

Getting back to the football...I think Sam will clear waivers as well. Currently, he isn't talented enough to crack the lineup of most teams as guys with his abilities are a dime a dozen. Could he be a third stringer/special teams guy on squad with a week D-line? Sure, but I suspect that as unfortunate as it still is, most teams would not want the extra press attention for an essentially mediocre player. In my opinion, there are several teams that should pick him up as way to distract the media attention from how bad their football team will be this year.

Anyway, from what I understand Sam is an extremely hard worker and is making great progress. Maybe he can crack a lineup in a year or two.

Some people find males kissing to be gross, some people find females kissing to be gross and some people find males kissing females to be gross. So what?

As to Sam, I wonder if his decision to come out was detrimental to his career by taking HIS focus off football.

I suspect that there are many gays in the NFL who choose not to come out and will wait until their careers are over before doing so. Also, it may affect their ability for commercial endorsements. I may be wrong, but I cannot recollect any openly gay athletes being used to endorse any products. It appears that the predominantly heterosexual North American public is not yet ready to accept openly gay professional athletes as role models.

I have just gone through a list of gay athletes and do not notice one who has done TV commercials or endorsements after they came out.

This will change as more athletes feel comfortable being open about who they are. Actors and musicians have led the charge and as a result public perception has improved greatly in a very short period of time. It's snowball effect and thankfully some brave individuals have started the ball rolling in the athletic world now too.

They have the right to be grossed out if they wish. But they don't have the right to be shielded from things that offend them. I mean, when Muslim dummies kick and scream because they saw a cartoon that offended them, what do we say? We say "grow some skin, bro". "They said this about our Prophet!" "They said that about our Quran!" Yeah? So? It's a big world full of people who don't share all your beliefs. Michael Sam did something on TV that doesn't conform to American Family Association's world view? Yeah? So? If they can't deal with it, it's their problem, not Michael Sam's and not ESPN's.

Except of course that all Western media has largely self-censored out any criticism of Islam's religious figures (the effects of Islam, Islamism, etc, are discussed, but you don't see mockery of Mohammed, Allah, etc). In fact, whenever it is a member of a "persecuted" or "minority" or "disadvantaged" group that gets offended, there is a massive legal apparatus that can be brought to bear against the offender here in Canada (the much debated HRCs). There have been plenty of threads about this here as I'm sure you recall.

Personally, I agree with you, people do not have the right to be shielded from what offends them. Unfortunately, this is applied in a very inconsistent manner.

True enough...and I am literally hoping that he lands a spot somewhere, soon, just so it makes them uncomfortable.
