I agree that responses will be different depending on the role. I am speaking out on this because I am disgusted by responses from male posters with reference to Kimmy's new role.

A few points... this will be on a trial basis. I won't even have super-powers. I have been asked by Mike and Charles to help promote good discussion, discourage people from bad behavior, and generally be a snitch and goody two-shoes.

I thought it was a joke, kidding around, some friendly banter - and rather nice to see here, where so much seems to be so serious. If the person to whom it was directed isn't offended, why should anyone else be?

If a female is going to take on the responsibility of a facilitator, that should include consideration of other female posters, whether or not they are active. A facilitator needs to rise above the impulse to obtain approval from other members. They have the added responsibility 'especially female facilitators' to address issues that female posters come across time and again in forums. Certainly, these issues won't be addressed by male facilitators like they should be by female facilitators.

I have no idea what gender any of them are (the same as all other posters) and do not feel it has or would make a difference.

Because female moderators/facilitators are a minority and they are a necessity to provide balance at any forum.

That's hardly fair. I don't understand your complaint and I'm female; you wanted it addressed by a facilitator, Kimmy tried to address it by asking for clarification and you won't say. If you have a valid complaint, you should be able to articulate it. People aren't mind-readers, not even when they are in the same room as you, never mind over the internet.

The complaint is simple, You're an honest poster!

You're balanced in you beliefs and are honest enough to usually see both sides of a topic. You're not a feminist pushing a feminist agenda, you're not squashing the male posters on this board like she'd like you to do. She can't manipulate you like she manipulates Jacee. The fact that most people here like you, chafes on her badly because to her that means you are subservient to the men. In short, to have a woman on the moderating team that's not a raging feminist is, to her, almost worse than not having a woman on the moderating team at all.

Actually we require mods that can do the job. If Kimmy can do a better job than the current moderation, I shall welcome it. I care not if she is female or not. Having her as a mod does not provide balance.

Agree with everything but the last sentence. I'm sure there's certain unique issues that come up being a female on a male-dominated forum that guys don't have to deal with (and maybe vice-versa). It can't be anything but good to have her on the team, to see and react to these possible issues and give a female perspective.
