I hear rae and the boys are going to have a press conference over the costing of the F-35. So what we do know ,is that in the history of goverment procurements, they have NEVER put in the price of salaries ,fuel unseen events into the price and now the libs and dips want that done. WHY? It is pretty obvious that this is nothing but a act by the left to handcuff the miltary buying anything in the future, is this the main plan by the left? We do know for sure there is libs and dips that would get rid of the military if they could. I read libs crying how if we get rid of the jets we won't have to cut the CBC budget, is the CBC more important to the libs then our own safety? What about dalton's baby sitting policy, did they cost the new carpets every 6 years , potential law suits over abuse, spilt milk, cleaning of magic markers off the walls? You price everything like that we will never buy anything again. What is going on is unheard off and IMO it is only going to embarress the country for doing what every goverment does, but I think the libs and dips do not care what it does to the country as long as they score points.

two threads not good enough for you?

Try this one.. its called F35 Purchase... where your comment would fit in nicely...

http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=20677

Or you could use the OTHER F35 thread that has Bob Rae in the thread title.

No, this is totally diffrent, this is attack on canada ,it's people and it's armed forces, this is not about money anymore, it is what the left is trying to do with this country.

Exactly, what IS Rae and the left trying to do in your mind? Every party agrees we need new jets, what they don't agree on this the way the Tories have handled this operation and not having an open bid, once they realize the costs will be in the billions if not trillions. To date, the F-35 doens't even measure up as yet but it seems the Tories want to keep waiting until it does but then, you could have pilots getting killed from overused jets.

They're just trying to do the same thing the right is trying to do, but from the opposite end.

Right. If we're going to decry politics on one side, why not decry it on the other ?

The whinging, the grinding of teeth, the second guessing that happens every time a large defense purchase is met ... pretty much matches the fudging of numbers, favouritism, and sneaking around that a sitting government engages in.

We've seen it all before haven't we ?

The Conservatives would be yelling and complaining about the same things if they were the ones in opposition and the Liberals were over spending on jets. Its what opposition does.

So what's the alternative? Never second-guessing purchases by the government because that's just too much politics for your tastes?

When specifically did the NDP endorse the purchase of new jets for Canada?

When specifically, did they deny the usefulness of purchasing new jets?

I don't know but I do no that Jets are the least of our worries when running such a Huge Budget Deficit. The Largest in Canadian History.

That same monies would go a long way on direct ground support.. but Government always goes out for the flashy big ticket stuff.

The Conservatives and the Military want the Cadillac.

Can we afford this now?

Governments can afford anything they want as they have taxpayers pay for it.

The alternative is for the electorate to get better and to reject sideshow politics from both sides. That won't happen, but maybe we can look at a way to reduce the impact of sideshow politics.

So, I would ask: when in our history have sideshow politics been less of a factor and why ? I would submit as a strawman suggestion: sideshow politics have been less of a factor when there was more public participation ('public' meaning informed and interested parties identifying themselves from the citizenry) and less mass media broadcasting. I would encourage media that enable public participation and restrict mass media.

Democracy has never been about masses, but about individuals. As such, the mass media model encounters difficulties when used for democratic communication.

(This idea might make the topic more about being careful what you wish for, and less about the government's jet purchase.)

This catastrophe should serve as a lesson on why you should be more careful about how you wish for something. How the Conservatives wished for these planes has clearly caused the wish to blow up in their faces.

Going by the title of this topic, I wonder how many Canadians who voted out the lIberals and put in the Conservatives, wished they didn't. I got a notice in the mail yesterday saying that the OAS, applies to Canadians born after March 31, 1958. Why March 31st? Why not Dec.31st?

There si no other plane out there, and the other countries still want it. A couple are buying super hornets just to get by with till the F-35 is finished. People scream about not having a tendering process ,well the other countries did and guess what the F-35 won. And does anybody remember the Sikorsky Cyclone , well where is it ,a paper helicopter bought by the libs, now that is a real scandal, not a made up one like this, you liberals should hold your head in shame.
