This is a false statement!

The NDP are very rooted in rural Canada and now that Harper got rid of the gun registry their job will be much easier.

There are some rural regions in Canada that are exeptions, but hey Harper at one time had a real hard time in urban Canada.

WWWTT

Agree again, all the NDP needs to do is force people to forget that they voted to keep the registry, considering how little respect they show for people in rural areas the NDP probably thinks that we are just that dumb.

forget about the NDP, Canadians will forgive the liberals and they will make the next government

I don't know about the next one....maybe the one after that.

It's pretty obvious that the NDP, like the Liberals, are a party only for city folk!

They both have a LOT of work to do if they hope to win any seats outside of city limits. That's because they consistently take positions that favour the whims of city folk and ignore the wishes of rural citizens.

Ever since the Liberals enacted their gun registry, every time a fox raided a chicken coop a farmer cursed the Liberals!

Since I don't own a gun, how much does it cost to license a gun, take gun courses to get the license?

Posted

~$130

Added to that the cases that are needed to store it, so what is the cost of license, storing and classes and the cost to register ones weapon? Should the government give back the registry money to the gun owners? I say yes.

IF you think Martin swearing is bad, wait until Canadians actual feel the effects of some of these Bills coming out, especially the Justice. It's already been said in the House, that some western farmer's that voted for the Tories, thought they would be able to vote on the Wheat Board. Voters who voted for the Tories, especially the Toronto area, that gave Harper its majority have only themselves to blame the way the country goes and how the Tories take it.

He shouldn't have to step down for being boorish and vulgar.. typical Pat Martin. Seems to me he had to apologize to a woman this year, there seems to be a pattern of verbal abuse from this boor.

Time for Pat Martin to apologize....

That's all... nothing more to see here.

Actually as it turns out Pats controversy is opening up the discussion as to "why" he feels frustrated with this conservative government.

Whats wrong with that?

Should he appologize for creating interest?

Shutting down debate is nothing new, neither is the opposition deliberately stalling bills by adding amendments etc. Maybe there's good reason to close off debate.

Pat Martin is wrong about how he communicated his frustration, but the frustration is justified. The Harper government has shutdown debate on many of the bills. That's not what I want to see in my government.

How much do you think is left to be said about the budget? How long do you debate the year's budget? Until next year? I think what the Conservatives are seeing is that past a certain point where everyone says their piece, all the opposition is doing is grandstanding and trying to delay things. So they're not cooperating. Big surprise.

All tolled, about 300 + the gun... Any responsible gun owner follows the rules and stores his/her firearm safely. Just part of the privilege of owning one.

Bottom line? The US federal politicians debate their budget far more than our federal politicians do, and they generally have bigger deficits. OTOH, they generally buy less than ours.

If I were a guy and had to choose between a Canadian wife or an American wife, I'd choose the American. She may argue more and use my credit card more often - but overall, she'll spend less of my money.

Returning to the OP, I think the Canadian parliament should have more MPs like Pat Martin, and fewer trained seals like the Quebec NDP Vegas.

I’ve spent for trigger locks, secured carrying cases and two safes and the cost of delivery and the removal of a door frame to get one into the house, close to ~$10k

Oh come on man!

How many freekin guns do you own?

If your a gun collector than there would be an signifigant extra cost to securely store your collection.

After all it would be practicaly an armoury!

And the removal of a door frame? What was it a 34" door?

The safe is ~ 6’x 4’x 3’ and the angle from the hallway into the room was too tight…..we were short literally about 4-5 inches……..My complaint, is that when it comes down to it, what’s deemed safe is ultimately up to a police officer/firearms officer, that legally, can inspect a collection whenever they wish, without notice or a warrant as opposed to a defined term……..My firearms are in rooms that can be locked, inside safes, attached to the floor/wall with trigger locks….

As for having an armoury….Well, not quite….I’d think there’d be a divorce if the wife felt me and the boy were about to start our own religion….

He's a boor, always has been, but you'd think there'd be some consistency here, I mean really, if Rob Ford isn't allowed to swear under duress then neither can Pat Martin.

Pat Martin didn't give the finger to a mother and her child or call a children's author a bitch at a council meeting. He posted an expletive-laced rant on Twitter. If Pat Martin had used that language addressing those women above or used it in Parliament, I would be condemning him right now for being an absolute moron.

I'm re-reading 'Understanding Media' by McLuhan again, so everything calls me back to his theories.

It may be that the idea of public life is dead. The electronic environment is increasingly consuming all types of media, and all types of interaction. We may have to get used to the idea of seeing our politicians are more human. That's a scary idea, because on a certain level they are not like us: they are more ambitious, strategic - maybe Machiavellian. That's not a bad thing, but politicians have been sold to us as being similar to us, so this will be a kind of shock...

Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase !

How soon they forget that all though a minority gov't the opposition stalled and stalled and now they just can't believe they aren't the gov't any longer. I mean, damn it, this majority gov't actually has the temerity to push through their campaign promises and agenda and the NDP can't believe they don't have any power.

It's really about wanting to tie up Parliament to prevent discussion on the crime bill, gun registry, Canadian Wheat Board and Article 13 of the HR code. He's not ranting about lack of democracy really, he's just swearing because they are not able to paralyze the workings of a democratically elected majority gov't., which isn't playing their game.

I'm sure we'll see a lot of this over the next four year with little or no critique from the c0nsensus media. Maybe by 2015 Canadians will be fed up with the antics of the NDP and do to them what the people of Saskatchewan did to the NDP.
