Yes there second, third, fourth, fifth and so on. That's how they decide who plays who in the playoffs. By losing the finals the Canucks still finished ahead of all the teams that either didn't make the playoffs in the first place or bowed out in the earlier rounds. The Leafs would have killed to lose in 7.

/facepalm

In professional team sports there's always a champion, and then everybody else. You think the Canucks are thinking "yay, at least we finished in 2nd place?". And do you think Tampa Bay or San Jose is thinking "yay, at least we finished in 3rd or 4th place?". This isn't the Olympics. There is no silver and bronze medal!

If I understand properly, the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup. Vancouver has lost. (Do I have this right?)

----

I have a question for posters on this forum: How many players on the Boston team are Canadian? How many American?

IMV, nationalism/ideology/religion should be treated as we North Americans treat hockey or baseball teams.

In North America, Canadian fans shout for a baseball team (Toronto Blue Jays) filled with American players, and American fans shout for a hockey team (Boston) filled with Canadians. Imagine.

Now, imagine a world where Muslims shout for a team of Christians. Imagine.

Frankly, I found the burning car to be more exciting than Game 7, but I wonder if things would have been any different with Rome playing. OTOH, Luongo still would have sucked! ;)

Oooooo...it's getting much worse. Bringing out the rubber bullets, next, me thinks.

Krikey...it looks like a G8/G20 summit meeting out there! Canuck fans rights are being violated! Harper will pay! ;)

I like the chubby woman standing atop "the burnt husk of a car" on Georgia street.

It's the worst yet re: riots for Vancouver. A chum of mine lives right there (20 floors up luckily) and he claims one dead, many injured....but who knows?

Damn...no wonder nobody else in Canada was cheering for Vancouver. It looks like Detroit! ;)

Well, they're looting and fighting and starting fires and throwing rocks/bottles/etc and you name it. Not a proud night for Vancouver.

Stabbings? WTF? This is not your run of the mill Stanley Cup or NBA Finals riot. There must have been some agent provocateurs!

There are the usual suspects moving through the crowds. Black bandanna types. But it seems more a grass-roots affair. They're breaking out the rifles right now...
