M.Dancer Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/1...many/index.html Now I wonder if it is worth mentioning that the tactical value of a conventional long range missile such as what Iran fires is zero...that the only use is as a terror weapon...to attack and kill civilians, preferably babies. So you have to wonder...the world is apprehensive about Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism developing the ultimate terror weapon....and the consequence of Iran not complying with the nuclear watch dog may be an air strike to remove the nuclear threat..while Iran's response to that threat is to threaten terror attacks against Jews...? And then to back up their mighty arsenal ...in the words of one iranian general, "100's of missiles, 1000's even..." ( one imagines a charachter from Austin powers making this threat..) and to back up their threat they release a photochop image? They must have the same PR firm as Hezbollah... Argus Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 What exactly is Iran's problem with Israel? I mean, I don't remember anyone ever actually discussing this before but ... they have no trade disputes and share no borders. Iran does not have any military aid agreements with Israel's neighbours, and indeed, is more hostile towards Israel than her neighbours are. They have never been at war, never, so far as I know, fought each other. So why has there been such unbridled venom and hostility directed at Israel from Iran since the Shah was overthrown? Or is it just that this is what one can expect from crazy Muslims? Yet the crazy Muslims of Sudan don't spend a lot of time worrying about Israel and trying to develop missiles and nuclear weapons to attack Israel with. Of course the scuds didn't work. When have ever a terror weapons worked? Did the V1 and V2s work? If every scud had managed to land and every patriot missed their mark the scuds would have still been a dud. Now on the other hand, lets wait till the Iranians have a nuclear weapon....then it doesn't matter if their missiles are accurate...their purpose will be to control the gulf, intimidate the arabs and what ever else they want....they may even try to liberate Jerusalem... Remiel Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 What exactly is Iran's problem with Israel? Even if you discount religious conflict, Iran is in a position where it is unable to hurt its real enemy, the U.S., directly. Since Israel is the most vital interest of the U.S. in the Middle East, they are probably figuring that threatening Israel is the only effective way to put real pressure on the U.S. Hypothetically speaking, if it were Russia or China that was threatening Iran and not the U.S., I doubt that they would care about Israel from a strategic perspective. Black Dog Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 I looked at the link and didn't see any reference to a threat to attack Tel Aviv... Now, if the title was "Iran has capability to attack Tel Aviv..." that'd be a different story. But the story about the threat is missing the actual threat. Quote

Black Dog Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 This old news? President Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic Republic has never waged war against any nation and does not intend to do so, adding that Israel is not an exception to this policy."Iran has no plans to attack Israel," he said in response to a question about whether the Islamic Republic intended to destroy Israel and to wipe out the Jewish people. Ahmadinejad seems to have a tremendous amount of credibility with the pro-Israel contingent when he talks about wiping things off the map and whatnot. I wonder if this statement, like previous statements on the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, will see the same lack of skepticism that greets the threats. Quote
M.Dancer Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 “The Zionist regime is pressuring White House officials to attack Iran. If they commit such a stupidity, Tel Aviv and US shipping in the Persian Gulf will be Iran’s first targets and they will be burned,” Shirazi was quoted as saying http://www.todayszaman.com/tz-web/detaylar...9&bolum=104 Ms. Rice was speaking in the former Soviet republic of Georgia at the end of a three-day tour of Eastern Europe. Shortly after she spoke, state-run media in Iran began reporting the new missile tests, which followed a warning from an Iranian official earlier this week that Tehran would strike Tel Aviv and United States interests if Washington attacked it first. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/11/world/mi...&ei=5087%0A Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
