For the most part from what I can gather from a few artilces that I read last night, the DU was sold to the US under the notion that it is not to be used for weapons manufacturing. Scientists/researchers have data to back up their claims. So they should be willing without hesitation to show th data to support their claims. If they do not, then I won't take anything they say at face value. If you have a PHD in something and I ask for proof, saying you have one is not proof. Debating me about the PHD is not proof. Showing me the PHD proves that you have it. And I really do not underdstand the Kyoto protocols. It seems that you can buy credits in order to pollute more. Buy credits from a nation that has little pollution, in order for you to pollute more here because you are over your quota. I see in no way how this reduces green house gasses or combats climate change. I could be wrong, but this is how I understand Kyoto.

You should know the difference between stationed troops and tourists. Nowhere does Bin laden say he is upset about the tourists. He is pissed at the troops for being in Saudi Arabia. I really do not think he is talking about how civilians are influencing those cultures in those countries they visit. When in Rome do as the Romans do. The hurting economy can be largely attributed to the missmanagement of funds for Iraq. Pallets of money missing in the beginning to help pay for the salaries of new Iraqi government members. 80 Million here, 100 million there on top of the allocated budget for the war. There was a surplus of cash at the end of the Clinton administration. Now there is close to 3 trillion in debt right now in the US. The devalued dollar is a cause of this overspending. You have investment banks going tits up because of missmanaged funds. It is all connected. The economy is connected with the war and the US's ability to fight it. Hard to fight terror when you are worried about going bankrupt. Foreign investors will want to start pulling out of the US, leaving the US to buy back those foreign investments. How can you pay back investments when you are in debt? One bad move leads to another. But don't bother to make a connection at all. Also Buffycat, please read your posts before you decide to post. The blueprints were dated March 5th 2007. Even in the article is saying the facility is part of the the antiterrorism units. From the CBC article. I had nowhere indicated it was the JTF nor had I indicated the new facility is based in Ottawa. Read my post again. The JTF is not part anti-terror as far as I know (they are special forces for foreign lands) But to play it down in any case causes me concern. Even from a military boy like yourself. I hope heads roll for this. And it seems from the article that this new place is part of the anti-terror network, it is a response team for the aftermath of an attack. If you manage to compromise this facility then you compromise the facilities ability to respond to a major attack. Hard to deploy when your security has been breached. This place could be a victim of the terror attack. Terror attack happens and at the same time the facility is attacked. So now you have the aftermath of an attack and the facility that is supposed to respond is out of action as well. Does this now cause you concern? Think of it in a 9/11 scenario. One plane hits .. all the responders are there, then another plane hits taking out the frontline of search and rescue. I know it is a 'could happen' scenario, but hopefully our boys in DND have these bases covered.

Well I can tell you that here in Ottawa, well me anyways, support this clarification. I have no problem with people owning guns, or even multiple guns, even handguns. I have been considering purchasing one myself. I used to shoot the rifles with my dad out at the gun range. One has to respect the gun and what it can do. Treat it like it is loaded all the time, and you will minimize the problems. I recall one day my dad was cleaning the rifle. Everything was apart and I picked up the gun and looked down the barrel (was not loaded, and the pin was laying on the table) I got my ass chewed out large for that. I remember it pretty clear. I treat the gun with respect. Again, I have no problem with people owning a gun. I also support extensive criminal checks for new gun owners purchasers. I also support some kind of psychological profile of a person before they are given a gun. Everyone has the right, but not everyone should. There are some who do not have common sense when it comes to a firearm. You hear often enough about a child getting a hand on the gun (whereever it was stored) and they end up killing a sibling/parent or themselves. At this point the owner of the gun (probably an imediate family member) should be charged and sent off to the slammer for some chill time. Guns do not kill people. People kill people. And we have been doing it long before guns ever came to be on this planet. Guns just make the killing easier. So never question the gun, but consider the person holding it.

One report says no link between Saddam and Al-Queda, another official report saying there was none. Some other reports linking him to other people that may have been with Al-Queda, or Palestinian groups. IF this report shows that there was no link, then we can maybe say that there are no truths in the other official reports regarding Saddam, Al-Queda. These guys are playing us like f*cking fools.
