Better partners WTF ? ask yourself have we been good partners, we have been asked for DECADES to increase our military spending to 2 % of GDP, we have constantly been asked to contribute military forces for NATO exercises which we only contribute the bare minimal, same as NATO taskings the same excuses, we are know as a unreliable and largard nation within the NATO alliance...we are that spoiled little snot nose kid that needs someone to kick in the A$$ so they play nice and by the rules...thats what these tariffs are about kicking us in the A#$... The US does not need NATO, NATO needs the US, and if the team is not on the same page, then the US has every right to force them or as the US has already said they will leave. Your butt hurt because the US is telling us what to do...

You need to wake up, Trump is not going to take Canada , he is pressuring Canada to get it's sh!t together...in regards to our security....Instead your acting like we should be preparing for an invasion....We Canadians are reasonable for where we are right now, we allowed the liberal government to underfund our most important departments, we stood by and did nothing except clap for new social programs... I have already dismissed the idea of Canada becoming the 51 st state, because it would be more trouble than it is worth....I'm not ready to accept anything except looking calmly at the problem and coming up with a solution that benifits both countries, you are still hiding under the bed thinking the sky is falling, this is not the first time we have meet trump, this is how he rolls, this is how he negotiates through strength, and right now he has given us a list of things he wants, we could give those things to him, or die fighting... Why ? if they are illegal aliens what difference does it make what form of transport they use...bus, train , ship or airplane, is it because they were not put in first class or some how military transport planes not good enough i failed to see why this is a big deal....most of them arrived by foot to the US....why did columbia not fly them in on a commercial flight...they are after all their citizens...

SO your saying he is decided to put tariffs on Canada becasue he is a d!ck...US military is picking up the slack where others have decided to slacken off....If the US did not have to pick this slack up it could concentrate funds elsewhere...I've asked you before, If it is not important to your government why are they forcing so many to step up and spend more ? ....

No it is not, If NATO countries spend more it would mean the US military would have to spend less filling all the gaps other countries can not fill due to them not spending what they should....Take NORAD for instance US military pays up to 60 % of all those expenditures, while Canada spends maybe 40 % we have not done any upgrades to early warning radars since the 80's .... If nato starts expanding their spending it comes with expansion of total number of people under arms, along with better and more modern equipment....If they are keeping to there 2 Percent they will lift a great deal of the pressure off the US military by taking on more NATO tasks and missions off the USA hands....Take a look at Canada barely able to put a battle group in Latvia....thats about 2500/3000 troops....and we are struggling with that......if we were able to deploy more that would mean the rest of NATO or the US mainly would not have to deploy all the men, women they do saving your tax dollars....I can't explain it any different.....

I don't think your getting it, Climate change is going to die on the vine....Canadians may be driving EV's for now, but in 5 years those fossil fuel vehicles will still hold the majority of sales...US is going to kill their climate change policies cut all the red tape, to cut all the climate BS, and we will have to do the same just to compete...and in 4 years when a new American admin gets in maybe climate change will come back...

Is it a false notion, if Canada can not up hold it's NATO assignments or participate in NATO mission because we can't manage to put a force together then that means Other NATO countries have to fill those spots , it is not rocket science here.... Most of those spots are left to the US military to fill....I can't put it any clearer than that....You could also take a look at your president's message to all NATO, He has upped the basic NATO membership from 2 % to 5 % He has said on the media, that he is tired of paying most of the bills, such as deploying troops to europe , south korea, all around the globe, while giving a military protection for those states and them not paying what they owe....This is not my argument but your presidents....your Commander and chief... NATO was designed as a defensive pact, and if everyone is not paying their share , then someone has to pick that expense up. in the past it has been the US....As an American i'm not sure why you can't see that....But hey it is your tax dollars he wants to save... US is redeploying another 20,000 out of europe why is that...I mean your president has spelled it out loud and clear....he has told Canada to up our security at the border along with our military spending or face tariffs why would he do that if he was not concerned with our NATO spending limit...Like every president before him has asked the same question....why has he also told other NATO members to do the same thing, and then tell them he is tired of the US paying for everything... Canada's spending levels are an "extreme" concern to the US military chain of command , along with NATO, as it exposes our north borders to enemies threats....it is basically wide open border....Canada does not have many troops capable of operating in our north for long periods of time...nor can we support them for long periods it's a sh!t show to say the least....If anything happened up there NATO would have to depend on someone else to defend north Americans northern flank...I can't make it any clearer that that....These troops will have to come from some place , troops that could have been used some place else... My facts are correct, it seems yours are a little twisted...maybe read some of the stuff your President is putting up it will help you understand this situation better.

Nobody said we are paying a central country, Members of NATO agree to spend 2 % of gdp on their militaries , which would allow them to use equipment and personal for NATO taskings....Canada only spends 1.38% on it's military and really has nothing to show for it....Our military is still 10,000 men and women under bourne our equipment is most 40 years old or more, this lack of participation or abilities forces other NATO allied to pick up the slack...and for the most part that is the US.... I guess all the past Presidents , their members of congress your own military chiefs have been wrong for decades when they have asked us to increase not only our spending but expenditures on equipment and become a active member in the alliance.

But they( Canadians and the EU) love the security it provides....Canadians have for a long time talked out of both sides of their faces, nobody is going to attack Canada because the US will protect us....so we tell them to screw off when they ask hey can you pay more into the defense of North America...Our world is getting more dangerous by the day, and Canadians are blind to that.... Many euro countries are preparing for the next war right now, conscription is being brought in some nations, military budgets are expanding, orders for more equipment are flooding the markets, and in Canada we are still at the beach sunning our nuts...

Once again, Canada has been asked for DECADES to get it's sh!t together in regards to our nation's security.....and we have ignored the US, and our NATO allieds , they are no longer asking, they are telling.... It is convenient for you to use the we are a NATO allied when we don't agree to the membership rules, which is spending 2 % on our military, participate in NATO exercises, NATO operations such as north atlantic, pacific, or our artic....Our allieds within NATO have asked , and begged us to up our game on our military and we have basically given them the finger...We are not much of a member when we can't even follow the clubs rules.... So now they are telling us to get our stuff in order....and somehow you can not understand that, somehow you see it as an attack, somehow your pissed because another nation is tired of paying our way through this life.... Why is trumps requests for us to tighten up our border security and tighten up the rest of our security apparatus so appalling to you ?...Do you think we are secure enough , we don't have an issue with our borders, Military, RCMP, CSIS, Immigration, Coast guard, Fishiers, CBSA all these departments have been cash starved to feed other liberal interests... US and NATO is very concerned with our severe lack of Arctic sovereignty, lack of our military presence in our Artic, our lack of military capabilities period , the list goes on and on....All of which threatens NATO, and our allieds, in many ways. We have proven not to be a reliable partner...

It is not a matter of want, It is Canada and its government reasonability to ensure border security, and national security...US government and our NATO allies have for "decades" let me repeat that for "Decades" to boost our security of both...we have agreed to do so, but just ignored the request...NATO has been begging Canada to boost our artic defenses again for decades, We just told NATO yes we will invest heavily over the next 30 years....it is a BS answer as they will not be in power 30 years from now... And trump has not driven to our homes with a machine gun, let alone threaten to shoot...if that was the case we would already be the 51 st state....They are telling us get your sh!t together or face tariffs...nobody is talking about military action, just do as we ask or face economical tariffs. for not doing what we as a nation should be doing in the first place... It is hard to have a military that can respond to most threats without a healthy expenditure...1.38 % of GDP is not the line in the sand...2 % is... well you listed a good portion of them, already, check where our troops are deployed and that might tell you where the threats are....there are more threats out there than your aware of, cyber threats, screwing with our elections, threats to our power grid, terrorism, internal threats, enforcing our foreign policies,peacekeeping, peace making, ...the list is long .....you really did not think this all the way through...the fact that our military works 24/7 24 hours a day, has to tell you there is threats that your not ware of...

well a little less is 1.38 % of gdp not a little but a lot short ....and to top that off we also count in a lot of things and departments that are not even defense related.... Have you seen the state of our equipment....we have 40 main battle tanks ready for combat, of those 1/2of them are almost 25 years old...our latest tanks were used and abused in Afghanistan , rode hard put away wet...the other 40 are for training tanks, our jet fighters are 40 plus years old....our navy ships are almost 40 years old...so ya we pretty much forgone defence Oh it is going to make us spend our 2 % GDP on defense, and fix up our open borders, two things we should have done by ourselves but decided not to...Trump will not annex us, why would he bother he would not gain much but rather inherent all our problems... I get America first, but these current issues and making us invest in areas Canada does not like to...

you should take a look at his record in each of those jobs before cheerleading, it's not all rainbows and unicorns, just ask the brits, plenty of videos on carney made in the UK he was not very popular....economy is second place dealing with trump is primary.... I don't need your patients here, your failing at see the problem here....For decades the US government and many NATO allies ( including that fat stupid bozo you ref to,) has asked politely to increase security on our borders and to increase our military " for decades" and Canada has ignored all of those requests, and has given them the finger on many occasions....Today the US has a president that only has 4 years and is tired of asking nicely....now he is telling us...He does not care if we are a founding member of NATO, or any other organization....he is telling us becasue everything else has failed.... If we are a founding member and actually gave a rats a$$ about NATO, we should at least be making the minimum, membership fee upholding it's policies, leading by example...instead of being that guy who does not pay, or care.... What does that do to our international reputation i wonder... Border security and the entire security apparatus is not the stupidest pretext...but one of the few that should be the federals government primary concerns...You should be looking at your own code of honor here, not mine....i see clearly the problem and the solution.... The so called allieds have been talking about this for decades and not gaining any traction with our government , there is always a time in the conversation when you have to change tactics to get a certain resolution you're looking for.... No it has not escaped me, you on the other hand think joining the EU is a magic pill, swallow it and poofd we are going to be in paradise...My question is WHY we do not have these things already, i mean we are a G-7 country, we have money to burn, and yet nothing, this was a Canadian choice or lack of imagination...Joining the EU will not magically get us any of those things....your case is nothing more than wishful thinking...EU thought these things were worth pursuing, Canadians did not or we would have done so... Your making it sound like the design, blue print, know how, is something of a national secret....EU would be happy to share all of this if we were truly interested, So why have we not gone in this direction....has any Canadian government even dreamt about these items you suggest.....It is not what Canadians want, or need really...Why are you interested in joining the EU but not the US...
