1....And it has always been accountable to the elected government, It has always faithfully obeyed all orders it has received...It has never made up, it's own rules , and it has never been issued any blank checks.. And yet i don't understand the attitude that some on this forum has about our military leaders and their abilities to make decisions in regards to say equipment testing, or other reports provided by the military to civilian chain of command . It points to a lack of trust....and yet the military has shown nothing but trust to the government and its citizens, so where does this come from? 2... We do operate differently because we lack the resources and manpower, That being said we as a nation are expected to be able to operate in the same environments as the US, hence why our training is almost identical in nature but on a much smaller scale...US has more equipment and troops trained and equipped for artic operations than Canada ever hopes to have...Britain has more artic trained soldiers and equipment than Canada has...Lets not forget that our artic defense was regulated to the reserves for years....and only recently have regular force troops begun to operate in the artic...mostly due to our small numbers...Canada had a major base in Europe but closed it due to operating expenses...this was a huge mistake but points that when the country is looking for a few bucks that's where it cuts... 3...Heavy equipment cost much more to operate, which is why we switched from track vehs to wheel for the most part, had nothing to do with being able to move quickly or being able to use roll on or off, for a couple of reasons wheeled is cheaper to operate, to we have no roll on roll off capabilities, nor do we have any naval means of landing them under fire...what we have is a small fleet of C-17 which could transport a few LAVS any where in the world, providing we stripped them of most of their armor...Light vehs are great in Built up areas, but Ukraine is proving track IFV are the top predator... Heavier armor , more mobility, more weapons... Canada does need a heavy IFV fleet, it has run a couple of different purchase programs , but once again money is the issue...

In the end this is not about which aircraft is better, which has already been laid out in detail here...., but rather it is a political one, being used as a foot ball because of our tariff war with the US... more importantly with Trump....It also opens up why we are not running another competition , if we really want to teach those damn Yankees a lesson why not run another competition with the remaining European competitors...because it is not about finding the best Fighter that has never been the end goal, or so it seems.... the end goal is how much offsets will Canada be getting....how many votes are in all of this..Now that we are in the Euro military club, with access to bils in guaranteed loans why not pick a much better plane, throw our money at the Europeans...instead of Americans and buy a 4.5 generation fighter which will be replaced in less than 10 years...

Is Maid being used just to end suffering ? , and who determines what is suffering ? would you say a women with severe allergies ,whom could not find a suitable apartment would this be considered suffering, she was approved for maid and is no longer with us... I agree 100 % that if some one is suffering physical pain , should be looked at....but we seem to be including mental illness, or lesser aliments as well. when and where do we draw the line...

I can attest not in NB, I think our property taxes account for that, where i live the streets get plowed and the garbage picked up all for 6000.00 in property taxes and those go up every year...I have a well and septic...and mail is done in bulk mail box's at the end of the street...That's in the rural areas...in town property taxes are around 6 to 8 000 a year... This is not about the past, the past does not give you a free pass, just because johnny did it does not mean it is right for Carney to do it...Lets remember this is his program worth 30 to 40 bil dollars and for that money we get 26,000 new homes....i wonder what that works out per home...Is that not a red flag to you....i mean to me that got a flashing red light on the top of it....SHOW me the beef is the question i have...

Both levels of governments could slash all the red tape and extra taxes placed on new builds, remove all these taxes and the industry would explode in action...I'm on the final stages of building a new home now, and the tax man has his hands out every step of the way, the bank has many hands in the pie, not to mention local governments taxes and fees for forms and permissions, everyone has a hand out...If we had elected PP i would have saved well over 45,000 on my home...even more if we cut all the other fees...

Well we can start by funding it properly....invest more into our over whelmed hospitals and clinics and their staff. bring in private health care services, reduce immigration, and other stressors that produce what we have now. I'm sure the medical professional would be able to give you a long list of what is required to improve or over haul our health care system...But for some reason we can't even ask those questions because we don't want to hear the solutions...as it costs money, like anything else in Canada we half a$$ it..

I don't like the excuse everyone's health care system is overwhelmed...it is an excuse to just accept it like there is nothing we can do.... Not everyone receives the same level of care here in NB while i had no doctor, i had to wait upto 15 hours to get my medication renewed , that happened every 90 days....5 People have died waiting in the waiting rooms here in NB, you take your chances everyone is over worked and stressed out ....

I think it is the other way around the US is sick of paying all the bils, using all it's resources because Laggards within NATO just refuse to step up....Canada being one of the biggest....And those laggard nations are getting pi$$ed off because they are being forced to comply....Canadians being one of those Pi$$ed off nations....Had we been paying our bills we would not be in this position... To be honest you don't know what the military takes into account , your guessing lets not forget our Airforce work hand in hand with American Air force and are very much aware of the politics happening on both sides.... It's trite to you because you don't place a value on anything military....You seem to not know how this works, once you sign onto unlimited liability you don't have a say in where you go or whom you fight....That would be the same government that purchases the equipment....like i have said before it is cheaper to bury Canadians than it is to buy them the proper equipment.... That's BS, the air force knows exactly what it needs to defend the nation and support our foreign policy...They are the experts in their field, they are the ones briefing the politicians...who don't have a clue on any subject under their preview.. Thats not the message our Air force is saying....currently they are not looking for a mixed fleet...They are looking at the winner of 3 separate competitions....not a split fleet , or other aircraft....just a replacement of an aircraft that will be approaching 50 years old by the time it is fully replaced.... Never alone, but you can not guarantee that can you, like everything in life...but for the most part that's how NATO works... I agree for the most part someone else starts the fight and we join in, as our history has shown... I agree with you 100%, but we have the military we have today because that is what Canadians want.. and to be honest it is not much, not because the troops lack the will to protect it, but rather Canadians don't want to fund it properly...It happens the best air force equipment is normally made by the US...we do have other US equipment but it is rather the best or the cheapest compared to Europe...Europe makes awesome ground equipment, and ships....but the US has pretty much cornered the market on aircraft... I have 34 years experience in the Army, never has the Army received the equipment it really wanted with very few exceptions. Politicians have always picked out the equipment our nation needs without any knowledge of it.... I could list dozens of projects that were disastrous and soldiers have died using that equipment in combat...Those deaths mean nothing, nor have they changed anything in the way we purchase equipment. Politicians should be restricted to approving and providing the funding while also overseeing the project.........while the military pick the system they think is needed to protect this country....Canadians citizens do not have any skin in the game, their life's are not at risk...now if they were strapping themselves into this equipment by all means ....but 99 % of them will not even see this equipment, nor know enough about them to make an educated decision...this differs when considering strategic equipment such as nukes, bombers etc those decsions should be made by politicians and military... ...Nobody else works the way you've describes...plumbers do not buy carpenters tools, your wife does not pick out your power tools, you don't get the pool guy to diagnose your electrical problems , so why do we allow politicians to make these critical decisions on equipment....Until then they are free to express an opinion, but to have that reflect on what equipment is purchased is nuts...like i said before each member of the military pays taxes and for some reason they have no voice, so why is your voice more valuable...

Yes, and Yes, but having federal government assistance is not out of the question....But do you think current policies are negating those private investments, things like tanker ban, emissions caps, etc etc....In todays world i think Canada could use any help it can get in regards to making investment come back to Canada...Liberals did all they could to stimmy all of that...
