Good for your grandparents....Back then the country had their militaries backs, they had the country's full support..which was lost decades ago, today the average canadian does not give a sh!t about it's military or people that served...your an example of that I served this nation, I've seen Canadian soldiers killed or wounded in combat, only to have to come back to our nation and fight the government in court for basic medical needs, I heard our PM tell a soldier we are asking for more than we can provide...this after running one of the largest deficits that same year....Canada pays it's veterans 20 cents on the dollar when compared to WWII vets.... Our government has said to the public the last veterans were from the korean war, and todays vets are not entitled to the same Veterans benefits...A Afghanistan vet who lost both legs to and IED still need to prove every year that his legs have not grown back just to receive his current benefits... I would suggest going to a Veterans affairs website, and read some of the complaints Canadian vets are having or just research how many court cases veterans have still outstanding and then tell me Canada has their backs.... I served my country, for 35 years, been to alot of the worlds sh!t holes....and was under the assumption that if we came home broken they would look after all of us... well not all of us have been looked after....the sad part about it is you and Most canadians already know this, that Canada betrayed us...not the other way around...and sat around and did nothing...just let it happen.... Does it sound like i was making excuses ? or are you telling me that Canada is taking it's global responsibilities seriously and trump's demands are not valid at all.... Canada created this problem by cheaping out on its entire security apparatus, which has been recognized by the US and our NATO allieds for decades they have politely asked us to solve those issues...to which Canada has ignored, or refused to take any action on these files....now that we we are being told , fix it or face tariffs your pissed...why? Yes Canada is a NATO member, barely, Justin signed an agreement to meet 2 % of GDP by 2024, he got home and said he had no intention of meeting that goal ever.....I asked myself why go to NATO HQ sign documents that agreed to make the 2 % mark then come home and say Screw that....why not refuse to sign the paperwork...Basically we told nato TO SCREW OFF long ago, now is not the time to then hide behind we are a founding member of NATO, when we can't even make the basic requirements of membership that WE help establish....your talking from both sides of your face here...want to be treated as a member meet the requirements or drop out it is really that simple... I think the US has long ago been frustrated with paying for everything, and Trump is a businessman and the business case makes no sense, and he is telling everyone the free ride is over...time to man the F8ck up and start paying your share.... Not true, a few Black hawk helos is not going to satisfy Trump, he is going to want more than a simple 1.3 bil in new investments....he has also mention our artic defences, our entire security apparatus....he is going to want to see major improvements...And before we can get a working government that can pass bills and policies to make this happen is going to take months of tariffs.... and whatever Canada comes up with is not going to change his mind...He will get what he wants...and he doesn't care if he destroys canada in the meantime....

Trump is slashing through red tape by the truck load, slashing DEI practices, LGBTQ polices ,Climate change initiatives, concentrating on getting their resources to market slashing rad tape holding these new programs back...Are we also going to look at what is being done and copy many of these things...just to keep up....Right now we can't get anything done in short time periods, unless your the RCMP and buying a few helicopters that we can do....but anything else is going to take decades to get pushed through..... It doesn't really matter whom they chose, unless some miracle happens the liberals are not going to be in the race at all...how bad their loss will be is only a matter of time....And if Carney was smart he would not be running this time, and have his name attached to such a huge loss...he would be way smarter to wait a couple of months and try and build his party in his image.... Liberals are going to have the same problems the conservatives did while looking for the right leader to win an election, hopefully this will take at least a decade to do...
