No we have not we don't all agree on addressing threats...Nor war...WWI conscription crises', not just in Quebec...Even in WWII there was plenty of talk about not supporting england...As for threats Quebec separation was a threat, Climate change was a threat, that we are united on, lots of threats.... Yes trump has made threats, he makes them every day....but instead of us asking why and finding a solution , we have decided to pick a fight...instead of talking we are rushing into a fight that we ca not win ever....you may do so damage to the US economy, but he is really going to hurt ours, push us into a recession at the very least...we will lose thousands of jobs Canadians will be the loser here , not trump or justin...regular Canadians like you and me... He has already said this is phase one, with another phase to start in may once their evaluation of Canada is done, in that phase he will be looking at the complete NAFTA file....Were do think we are going to be by may...what state is our economy going to be in ? ... He is not worried about pissing off anyone he has threaten a good chunk of the world....his team of advisor must have thought this through and think it is the best course of action to reset America.... We will talk more about this in may, and we will see if our pride is worth the cost...Issues that could have easily been fixed,by accepting our responsibility, issues that we Canadians created, issues we did not even think of fixing by ourselves. I was going to say perhaps now we will take a look at diversifying our exports and who we do business, But we are not that smart this is the third attempt first one was trump 1.0 , then there was a trade dispute with china and both times we came up with a list of things to do to prevent this from happening in the future, now pooofff here we are in the future dealing with the same shit different pile...

My point was Canadians like their money more than they like anything else in the world, we are a nation of takers....wait until the tariffs hit and thousands more start hitting food banks, loose their jobs, and we run into a recession , then some if not all are going to question our decision to puff our chests and call for a fight... Which is more than what you did, and for a guy that chirps about the environment constantly your failing in your own mission...which is ironic for someone that pretends to be concerned over our environment and a lefty. How so, what if we did just agreed to fix what broken, create more jobs, and investments, improve our security ... might at most cost a few billion dollars,Nah thats not how we role instead we are going to put in jeopardy bils of trade every day the tariffs are in place, lose countless jobs, and regular Canadians are going to suffer in the pocket book...Yep sounds like the plan we all should be voting for... I didn't say that, but his actions are forcing us to look at many other options, that are beneficial for our country...There is talks about expanding our oil and gas exports to other nations, building more infrastructure to support all of that, not to mention all of our other resources, bringing them to other markets....( something we learned the hard way on Trump 1.0 but failed to take action on) ..Making our border more secure, along with increasing our northern defences, and increasing our over all security apparatus. Nah that plan would see us as weak, well folks we are weak, something of our own doing....

I have to ask What have you done for your country, other than spew a few poisoned words on this forum or damn those that have served or have a different opinion than you.......talk is cheap, your opinion are meaniless, compared to actually serving this nation in one form or another.... Dougie has serve his nation, with distinction, he has sacrificed more than you could imagine...He has earned his right to be critical of this nation...

Your saying that Canadians are ready to take a huge hit in the pocket book, to prove a point...sh!t we can't even agree to spend a little on climate change that according to environmentalist is threatening the entire planet and all life on it....i find it a little ironic...Canadian economy experts have already said this would put Canada into a recession...1 in 4 Canadians are dollars away from going to the food banks, not to mention how many jobs are at stake here... Not to mention Canadians are way to soft to face this kind of event, back in WWII people were hard they knew how to handle adversity, today food bank usage is sky high. My point is i don't think the nation is ready for this war as you call it...and i don't think we are going to make our as well as you think...in my opinion anyways...

Liberals decide to import Russian oil
Army Guy replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It was not my intention to post LIE's , i have also maned up and apologize what more do you want a pound of flesh....it is more than any one on the left has given... and we do import oil just not directly from Russia intentional. but according to the source Russian oil has made it to our shores... -
You mean something like justin did with signing a new NATO accord agreeing to spend 2 % of GDP, and then once arriving back in Canada tells the national media we have no attention of doing that...is that the honor your talking about, i won't go into all the other accords we have broken, hence why our reputation is in the toilet.... But yes i agree with you, your word is your honor, but i don't think Trump gives a rats a$$...he says whatever he wants, regardless of how wako some of it sounds....we already knew this from trump 1.0....he has said many times he did not like NAFTA, he did not like freeland, and he really dislikes Justin for many reasons....and since they are who he is going to deal with , he will take his revenge if Thats what you want to call it...I mean we have a government that is in disarray, a weak leader who is on the way out, weak replacements, he has already put fear into the entire country, with these talks of tariffs...And we are talking about a fight not a fix....DO you see any way we are going to come out of this ahead...Because i don't

Moonbox is right, i did not fully read the source and jumped to conclusions, i will in the future try to take more care... -
You make it sound like i have a desk at the white house....well i don,t this is all my opinion, you don't have to like it, as i don't have to like what your opinion is on the topic...I'm glad we can debate it without discourse....BTW those tariffs are going to effect me as well as you, were both in the same pot of boiling water... If it was me in power i would have tried diplomacy on day one, and sat down to find common ground on this issue, this drug thing is obviously a bee in his bonnet... almost 100,000 Americans die each year for this...not including Canadians deaths....i thought these numbers would have been more than enough to have a civil discourse...But everything in the media is someone beating their chests telling trump we are going to F#ck you up...when we all know from trump 1.0 he does not respond well to...I'm almost sure he has many items he feels the need to fix, this is just the start
-
He thinks this is in the bag....and we are forgetting their economy is a whole lot larger than ours will ever be.... Fixing our border is our reasonability to start with....is it placating him if we do what we are suppose to do....or are we just going to fight on principle how dare that F#cker threaten us" and pay in tariffs a lot more than we would have spent on fixing the border...Sorry it does not make sense to me.... Lets face it we are their biatch, we just don't want to admit to it....the after action report that was drawn up from the last time he did this suggest we diversify our economy and thousands of other things...here we are facing the same problem why is that ? In the end when all is said and done what do you think all of this fighting is going to cost...and what will we have gained, other than debt....you can't eat pride...
-
Trump has already stated he does not like it...he did not get what he wanted the first time...and will target the agreement in Phase two as he calls it in may, once the report his team is working on is finished on Canada...which will mean more tariffs until he gets it...We all know he is America first, he cares nothing for Canada, and will destroy whatever he needs to to get what he wants...he knows Canada is weak, our government is weaker, we are divided, he really does not like Justin....he holds all the cards....
-
Sorry but i'm not ready to forgive him or the liberals for putting us in the position we are in now.... And we have yet to see the worst of it yet, if tariffs arrive he is going to spend like a mad man once again making sure everyone gets a little check that will cost billions more trying to buy votes....... when it could have been avoided by heavily investing in our border , law enforcement, and other security apparatus for a lot less than tariffs are going to cost... You think any of the new candidates are better than we have now, Carney has been advising justin for a couple years now...he is justin lite and hs most likely the next PM that was not elected, but stepped into the job....and with NDP support could finish the liberals mandate....until then there is not an election... until the NDP helps bring down government....there is nothing in it for the NDP to support that, and no doubt it will cost the liberals something which means it will cost Canada...

To be honest i don't watch FOX, but normally get my news from CTV or CBC ....Actually i left a post on this forum and the source was from CBC actually....you should read it -
If the US wants Canada it could do that over night, in the wee hours you are sleeping only to wake up with American soldiers in your backyard...No amount of dirty cobalt bombs is going to change that...after that we will see how you make out with the better dead than orange... Ya well those willing to defend this country will be quickly overwhelmed and killed or captured, amd i'm almost positive we won't be seeing any of those from the left among them...your great talkers but really lack on the action part...

Trump team threatens two phases of tariffs on Canada Note there are two phases, it looks like the second phase will have to do with our trade agreements...It should be noted that Trump has also mentioned not only our border security, but also our national defense...and while we have announced a 1.38 boost to our border leased a few helos it's a great start but i don't think it is going to be enough...it's going to take a much bigger commitment more funding for RCMP and other law enforcement...what he is asking for is going to take a huge effort to curtail...SO my question is how could this not be beneficial to Canada ? There was a total of 49,105 apparent opioid toxicity deaths There were 45,707 reported opioid-related poisoning hospitalizations https://health-infobase.canada.ca/substance-related-harms/opioids-stimulants/#a4 For decades the US and NATO and NORAD have presented plans on a constant basis...what as a nation have we responded to these requests ?....our lack of action has affected US security on many levels...perhaps they should have offered hookers and strippers for everyone...but after decades of no action, they have decided on this tactic...which has got everyone's attention....I mean what were we really expecting ? trump is the leader of the most powerful nation on the planet, he see us as a security threat, he see a weak government, he see Justin as an enemy, he has seen how many time US government official's have asked to have concerns addressed and all the times they have failed... he has 4 years to accomplish his goals and he is not wasting any time or sparing any feelings... Sorry for not standing to attention and saluting the grand poohbah...the one that has brought most of this to this country becasue of his actions or lack off....and now he is waving around the Canadian flag trying to rally the troops...with this call to arms we will fight....instead of fixing the issue and moving onto the next problem because this is just the start.... And when these tariffs come it will be just like the pandemic, more checks , more debt, higher interests rates, this is the path you are following, we will spend billions we can't afford instead a of couple of billion to fix the original issue.... If you think we are going to bring the US to their knees, your delusional, and have feel for justins BS...

When you sign a defence agreement to spend 2 % of your GDP on defence related matters it is a rule....If it was not big deal why are countries just spending what they want...why the recent push to reach 2 %, if there is not rule.... Europe does not spend a lot of their defence dollars on american equipment, in fact very little goes to purchase american made military equipment...most of it is made in europe. If the US does not do it who else ? Europe, Canada. who is going to keep Russian , chinese aggression in check..Who is going to counter the middle east ? No one had to give them the job, nobody else wanted it, The US stepped up to fill it... 1. So, there is never going to be a shortage of conflicts, in fact the world has more conflicts now than during the cold war...and with that there is never not going to be a demand for weapons... 2...I don't see anyone stepping up and offering to take on the role...in fact some of those countries in NATO are taking advantage of the US presence in NATO, like canada while some like poland are spending close to 4 or 5 % of their GDP as they see the threat as real, and are on the verge of becoming the largest military power in Europe....while we a founding member could not be bothered...in fact we should be told to pack our bags your no longer welcome....

No it ain't our law enforcement job is to bust all Canadian drug dealers, and work with the US by sharing info to make that job easier....The border is not a free for all....or one way...You can check with law enforcement on that if you wish... The rule is to spend at the minimum 2 %...thats the agreement we as a nation signed on to in 2014 ....now where does it say you can't spend more than that it does not.......NATO is thinking of raising the minimum to 5 % but has not gotten consensus yet...So why would we want to US to spend only 2 % it does not make sense....Being the worlds' policemen is expensive and requires a larger investment... Early cold war maybe...but from the 60's it was about 4.19 % on it has been in decline ever since....past spending does not count towards anything... We always get the wrong equipment....thats how we role... https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/CAN/canada/military-spending-defense-budget
