Trump: would rather deal with a Liberal
Army Guy replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
For once i agree with Treebeard, freedom of speech is just that...you should be able to say what ever you want...but in doing so there is going to be consequences... for instance if i walked up to your wife and said nice tits...i would most likely get a slapped in the face or much worse...consequence's... -
There's a surprise, shocking news to this forum....everyone thought you were a hard core conservative....I'm sorry to hear that, i hope you get better soon.... we build stuff, sounds better than the liberal platform of we don't build stuff....or in Carneys case he just copies PP platform like i said now that we are going into an election, you'll get to here both sides...

Look fox, i really don't give a rats ass about political reasons... none of those reason are going to save a life when it counts...throwing away all of that becasue we don't like one president is not worth the effort our pilots put into protecting this country.... Politics should be taken out of all purchases we make be it for DND or any other department...political reasons don't win battles...people and equipment do...to many time have i operated equipment purchased for political reasons and have put my life in danger...replacing the Ilitis jeep, with the G wagon was one of those instead of purchasing harden MRAP like the Americans had...cost the lives of not only soldiers but a diplomat as well, most of our equipment is a political purchase... Just to be clear, respectfully....We and that includes all Canadians have put our nation's' security at risk....because of poor decisions our government has made and our citizens let them...you can point at trump for pointing that out but nothing he did forced us into our decisions... I find it a little ironic that Canadians are starting to wake up now to the fact we are basically undefended, when it has been the case for over 30 years now...even more so under the liberals rule of the last 8 plus years. we have given our security of our nation to the Americans decades ago, and even bragged about it...so that excuse we can't put the safety of our nation into a nation that is not an ally is a moot point...we have done that long ago... My point is this Trump is going to be around for 4 years....historically we have had excellent relations with the US...this is a blip in our over all history....these decisions we make in purchasing military equipment will be here defending our nation for over 40 more years.... why would we not want to purchase the best equipment available now...which that line of reasoning has proven to save lives of Canadians service members....just because we dislike one American....is your pride worth more than one service member life....That's what your asking...buy something that is second rate, in this case something that placed second place only because the others quit the competition because of government wanted to much in the way of offsets.. Want to punish trump then do it with other trade, not our military whos' very lives depend on what we buy... same as Helo purchase, what is next we cancel the P-8 contract, or Awacs contract, our weapons for our frigates, all of which would put those programs back years....sounds silly...

So Gripen sales are a failure becasue they have just recently become a NATO partner, and now they are a NATO partner their fighter all of a sudden is a contender...Sorry can't wrap my mind around that logic...The Grippen has failed in over 15 competitions to meet the top fighter jet...Including Canada's and not once did they mention the reason for failure was they were not a NATO country, several of those countries border Sweden... When i was in germany back in the day, NATO ran all sorts of aircraft from highways, including our F-18's , typhoons, all sorts of french aircraft, all maintained on the side of the road, by repair trucks...IF it requires to deep maintenance then it can be flown to an airfield....It should be noted that at the time "cold war" only 1/2 of the aircraft were expected to return form the first sortie, and only 1/2 of those remaining aircraft would return for a third sorties.. Not many aircraft would survive so your concern about need a deep maintenance facility is a moot point is it not...During the gulf war every aircraft returned to a major airstrip with deep maintenance facilities.. Operating off a highway would be a blue moon event... https://www.twz.com/f-35a-has-flown-from-a-highway-for-the-first-time F-35 does not need speed to defeat adversaries, it relies on high tech sensors and EW capabilities you can't kill what you can't see...be air defenses, or a knife fight ...lets not forget there is always at a minimum 2 fighters per intercept... or more depending on enemies numbers... Not all missiles require a radar lock on...therefore do not give the enemy advance warnings of an attack.for that matter F-35 aircraft have the ability to paint a target for another aircraft missile launches...so it can remain hidden from other enemy radars. and for the most part they are very effective or they would be using something else...enemy aircraft would not know what is going on until one of their aircraft blew up... Note i did not say master of all things , but it does all thing well...unlike your Grippen, which is an air defence aircraft that can do air to ground... Yes the US does fly several aircraft types , they can afford to do just that, not many countries can do that and still maintain top of the line aircraft...If we ever plan to meet our 2 % of GDP on strictly military expenditures then that may be possible... Not true, most F-35 users have a single fighter...the F-35...some countries such as Britian, Germany, spain, operate F-35 and typhoon, or are in the process of getting rid of older fighters that f-35 are replacing. France does not operate f-35. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-35_Lightning_II_operators i would love to see canada operate a multi type air force, but i don't think the grippen should be in that mix, either the french rafale, or typhoon would be a much better option....and if we were really concerned about cost we would stick to the F-35 and get more for our money, or the new F-15EX which would exceed almost all of the grippens high spots with ease...And while you have listed a lot of good points about the Grippen, i want to add this one most important point...we need to pick an aircraft that has the best chances of survival in combat... that is the F- 35 which has sold more than 1000 copies for a very good reason, this aircraft will be flown by our nation for another 40 plus years as we historically have already proven ,The F-35 has just started its journey as a top notch aircraft with unimaginable capabilities our F-18 pilots have never had, that are still growing and still improving...cheaper is not always better....as proven by the sales of each aircraft we have mentioned.... https://www.raf.mod.uk/news/articles/raf-typhoons-land-and-take-off-from-a-road-for-the-first-time/

I don't personally have any arguments , however there are plenty of british people who have.....Actually i've posted 3 different sources each from a different person, all debating Carney performance as governor of the bank of Britain. None of them are very flattering...Not sure how many more do you need.... Perhaps you can find a source that supports your side of argument, that mark Carney is good at his job, like i said going to oxford means nothing other than you could afford a expensive school, it does not mean your good at economics...or running a country's bank.. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/brits-warn-canadas-new-prime-minister-has-reverse-midas-touch https://fcpp.org/2020/01/04/goodbye-mark-carney-you-let-your-bias-get-the-better-of-you/

Thats all you got, sh1t my pet gopher can do better....PP has been announcing his platform a little aty a time, for more than a month now, you have just not been listening ...which is OK he is not really expecting your vote anyways....It's so good Carney has been taking it as his own....once the election is announced , it will be game on, and we will see who keeps up...

Liberal Party Takes Lead in Polls
Army Guy replied to TreeBeard's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We'll see when the fat lady sings who is elected and who looks for another job..And if Canadians have not had enough of a liberal government then that's democracy....and we will have to live with the results... -
So respected it is used by how many nations ?, all of which ran their own competitions,It comes with a long list of failed bids.... it came in second in Canada only after most dropped out because Canada was asking for to much offsets... You can operate almost any modern fighter on a highway, or prepared runway. and any airforce can have a mobile truck repair shop...we have that already for our green helos... It does not have to be fast, it's sensors and radar will see most combatants well before they even know the f-35 is there. it kills at distance...That being said it is not that much slower, gripen top speed is 1323 mph, , f-35 is 1200 mph not that slow..., and it caries 2 long range missiles and 2 short range...and when in beast mode, your also forgetting airforce normally scrambles x 2 aircraft at minimum...when chasing down Russian aircraft in the north... https://www.19fortyfive.com/2021/11/the-f-35-can-go-into-beast-mode-carrying-22000-pounds-of-bombs/ And while Again the question you have to ask yourself is Why did the airforce pick the f-35, we could go back and forth all day about what is better ...but the experts our own air force have chosen the F-35 for many reasons...the other question should be why are there more f-35 users than grippen users, each nation ran a competition and again in most cases the grippen lost...Why ? and when you take a look at most western nations they run either US aircraft or Euro fighters, with exception of France...some nations are running grippens, about 300 grippens have been made, over 1000 F-35 have been produced....that alone has to say something about both aircraft... Operate multi fleet of aircraft are possible when they were cheaper to run, and purchase....hence why we have multi role fighters, not experts in one area, but can do all areas good enough...F-35 is that aircraft.... If we had to purchase a european aircraft i would pick the Eurofighter hands down...or the french Rafale...the Grippen would be in the back of the pack.... Like most military purchases, our politicians have turned it into a political football, we have seen this over and over, just look at the Sea king replacement...the government should be kept out of the whole process, instead approve the amount of funding and thats it...unless it is a strategic piece of equipment, like nuke subs...
-
Sure it is combat ready so is the sopwith camel, Grippen does not have half the capabilities as the f-35...And yes it has performance issues like most brand new aircraft, F-35 is in full production, in 2024...and those issues are down to 65... Not sure how old your source is but it is not current... fixed....https://theaviationist.com/2024/03/13/f-35-full-rate-production-finally-approved/ and most of those will be solved by 2030 when we receive our first aircraft...As for the performance issues Israel managed to use it in strikes against Iran's heavily contested airspace to take out Russian made S300 air defences on mopre than one occasion...Hardly poorly suited, or medium intensity combat... https://simpleflying.com/5-times-5th-gen-f-35-used-in-combat/ Grippen is a gen 4 aircraft , F-35 is gen 5 apples and oranges....If this aircraft is so good why is not all of europe not flying them, in fact why is the list of countries that rejected them out right. just look at failed bids on the link i provided, then see countries that have adopted this aircraft.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_JAS_39_Gripen Yes it is cheaper to fly, and requires less maintenance, but it also only has half the capabilities as the f-35...

Things are getting a little crazy....40 % serviceability rate is sickening...and now we are looking at another non us fighter...for the sake of politics....it is always the forces and it's personal that pay for politicians games...the grippen is a joke....

Liberal Party Takes Lead in Polls
Army Guy replied to TreeBeard's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You give him to much credit, most people don't think he is that smart.....i mean picking a fight with the entire world thats smart....said nobody... Carney climate policies will give american business an huge advantage...why would he not prefer Carney... -
Yes, he has been elected over and over again...he has proven he can do the job, he knows all the in's and outs of politics and diplomacy why would that be a negative point....Your free to use your vote in any manner you want, want to vote liberal that's your choice, maybe after a 4th term they might actually do something worthwhile for the country, and not just themselves...but after 3 try's do you really think they are up to the task for the 4th time....
-
Hate is such a strong word, the right does not hate bankers, just this one, who's resume is not all that impressive , he took credit for things he did not do during the 2008 financial crisis , the Brits did not seem to have much good to say about him, except he loves printing money and spending it on his own lavish tastes....Lets not forget he has stolen a good chunk of PP campaign ideas. He's not really come up with anything that is new to handle trump and diversifying our trade....His cabinet is the same as justins, only with a different wrapper that have thrown away liberal values, adopting a more right wing approach because it was working at least in the polls so ya we don't like the liberals new front man he is a poser...And we will see more of his colors in the next election...
-
Yes, because we are desperate, we all know the consequences of 4 more years of the same liberal government, most Canadians are asking when the election is going to be.

I get that, Have they developed an evolved CMS330 as i can find anything on it...perhaps thats why they went with the Aegis new spy 7 system. I think there is more to it than that, American equipment is cool, but not nessicary better, but in this case i do think the Aegis offers more...from what i have read. Yes, and the next President is going to have a lot of work to do repairing all of that. but the question is , Is trump one of a kind or are we going to face someone like him again... Spy 7 is pretty advanced, and will be for at least 10 years....we can also make the same assumption on europe...no one knows for sure... Today thats exactly what it looks like but 15 years ago do you think we would have predicted what is happening today.... French know we are looking for a sub....and really want to sell some...i would prefer American, or UK, i think the UK ship yards are getting ready to finish their run of their nuke subs....now would be a good time to start talks....but the french have a very good sub as well, nuclear is the way to go for canada...but i'm not a navy guy...Rafale is a good aircraft, but i think the typhoon is better, but is expensive to purchase, i think they are building tranche 4 now...but then again EU coalition is working on their own new stealth design fighter...in the near future...it would be a shame to throw all that investment we have into the F-35 away....someone suggested a split fleet also more expensive but the typhoon would compliment the f-35 a lot....

Here is the latest trump remarks he prefers to deal with liberals, they are easier to deal with....he states he does not even like the new conservative leader, "he's call him names" so much for being a trump guy....I guess Carney is the man...is this a good thing not sure ?
-
Where do i donate...is it tax deductible? ooohh screw it I'm donating anyways..Just don't forget to load up Justin and all his clan of MP's and friends.... Think of all the oxygen we are going to save without liberals flapping their gums...about stupid sh1t....think of all the crises we would solve health care, housing crises, worker shortage, climate change, DEI initiatives, all our gender problems, our education issues, ya sign me up...

Fentanyl is being exported out of Canada, the worlds largest bust of fentanyl was made in Australia and it came from Canada...the largest bust in Canada was enough to kill 9 million americans....so there is a problem, just not as large as the mexican one...CBSA has already told the media our borders are porous with only 1 % of all trucks and containers being checked, and zero trains...we still have issues with other drugs and guns getting into the country....so lets not pretend our borders are even close to being secured...renting 4 helos and 1.38 bil in new investment is not going to move the needle much... Tariffs are a source of income , back in the day before income taxes thats how nations got their income....I get it todays world has moved on, and those tariffs are being paid by those companies importing into the states first....they recoup those costs by passing them on to the consumer....which in turns forces consumers to buy other products that are cheaper....hopefully they like your product enough to come back after tariffs are lifted...if not your forces to find another consumer base....which is another reason Trump likes tariffs he wants to force American consumers to buy american, either way both sides the consumers are getting screwed.... This is not Canada's first exposure to trump, this is trump 2.0 and we did not learn anything from the last tariffs we had, sure we had big talks back then about diversifying our economy....but like everything we are slow learners..and we quickly forget the pain of yesterday...I hope we do find new markets for our resources, only this time i hope the liberals take down all those roadblocks the previous liberals put up to stop getting our resources to market...Somehow i don't think that is going to happen...
-
If the CMS is better than the Aegis, why did the navy pick to go that route, I'm not a navy guy, so i'm asking it does not make sense why change for a new system if your already very familiar with the CMS330. I thought thats all we used was American Weapons on our frigates.... I have not heard of our frigates incorporating the BMD capabilities, at least not from a canadian site. I think our current state is one in a million, trump is a one of a kind....or atleast he has been in our history with the US... No one can predict the future, or what is next technology advance, but unless some wonder weapon comes up, the soft ware we have now will work well into the future...and is light years ahead of most of our current tech...But software aside we can still stock pile on spare parts, the next crises or war this manufacturing nations will be over loaded with pumping out spares for their own equipment, and we will be in a long que....same as if we purchased a european system unless we develop our own , which we do not have the funds for...I'm talking about complete machines, such as ships , aircraft etc...
-
Carney tells the media, in very clear terms "canada does not need any help with the US tariffs", he also said that his trip had nothing to do with trade, we already have a free trade agreement on 99 % of the goods we need....so why did he jet off to europe ...come on liberal voters you must know, let the right in on the secret...He just putting off talking to trump, and solving these tariffs...what else could it be...
-
Yes you should have.... well for one he does not have the authority to cancel the carbon tax, that requires parliament, what he did was for the media, we don't have exec orders here in canada where you sign something into law it has to be debated in parliament, then pass onto the senate ...........and all he did was lower the carbon tax, it is still on the books...He is hamstrung until parliament is in session. and even then he can not be seated in the house of commons he can be in the gallery or outside but he can not debate in the house...nor can he answer question in the house. There is more but i'm sure you can do your own research there big fella...
-
Lets not kid ourselves the Aegis system is one of the best if not the best in the world....being interoperable is just one piece of the puzzle....you make it sound like the US has some remote to prevent us from operating our war ships "not possible" like anything you buy from a foreign nationality you run the risk of them turn hostile or putting on tariffs etc same thing could happen with purchasing european, asian. Only save gap is to design and produce within Canada, and that ship sailed a long time ago...you can still operate a fully functioning warship with the older software...as for spare parts, thats what having a good logistical system here in canada where you purchase enough spares to midgate tariffs or spats, or unforeseen circumstances like war or conflicts...
-
How is fixing this tariff thing delusional ?
