Is there going to be plaques for ever race, religion denoting that they to served in defeating the worlds great evil empire ...It is not about taking down plaques, it's about stopping the flood of other plaques waiting in the wings....Asian, African, Spanish, Jewish plaques, Muslim plaques, and so on....not to mention all the other different ethic back grounds...Why can't there just be a list of names, service numbers, and what unit they were from , date of death....no colors, no religion, no anything just soldiers, airman, and sailors or marines...Why do we need to complicate the whole issue...

I don't see how any of what you mention can explain why the CDS would announce we are ready, when we ALL know that is not true, we as Canadians have been bombarded by the media stating the opposite. Gen Eyra was explicit in his thoughts about the next conflict which was looming just over the horizon....Present CDS acknowledge all of that in here acceptance speech...So how do we go from being drastically unprepared last year to ready this year....sorry you'll have to walk me through that ?.... Trump actions are responsible for our push in equipment purchases...meeting our 2 % GDP, and now 5 %....Trump is not siding with Russia he wants that peace prize for solving that conflict....and he does not care what it takes....I'm not a fan of trump , but he is shaping the way Canada does business today, our thinking on our military is one, divesting our economy is another... both of these issues have been a issue for Canada for years....and no one fixed them because they were to hard to....How many times have we stated we need to diverse our economy away from China, and the US....to many times to count...Trump has done that in less than 2 years...

I think there are lots of Euro nations already in the early process of mobilization, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, debating conscription, rebuilding war stocks, many of Europe's military manufactures are clogged with orders..So yes some NATO nations have entered that mobilization. Canada's top general is lying her ass off....What is her motive for announcing such a disturbing announcement....just last year she said the exact opposite, so i ask what has changed in one year....we still have a critical shortage of every major battle field piece of equipment to fighters to ships to ground equipment....What she meant to say is yes in case of conflict Canada will send it's troops in shoddy equipment because that is their job...to go where our government sends us ready or not....The list of modern equipment that is battle ready for todays conflicts is very very short....while the list of equipment that is past due or in the procurement stage is longer than a NHL hockey rink... Not to mention a critical shortage of bullets and bombs...so Yes we are ready for day one on day two, people are coming back in bags... 70 plus years ago, and lets take a look at the same time period and what your terrorist buddies were doing, they agreed to participated in a war that pitted all Muslims in the area against the newly minted state of Israel...Palestinians civilians were doing the same thing, Killing Israel civilians were ever they could be found....So lets not shed to many tears, Israelis were fighting for there very existence at the time... thrown into a war they did not want or create... What terrorist group would that be.... Israel did not even have a military upon their creation, but due to persistent Muslim aggression they have one of the best trained and equipped military's in the world...Not because that's what they decided they would do with their tax dollars but rather what they were forced to do to survive... What is the definition of genocide, this word has been thrown around to often , and has lost it's true meaning...if this is a example then it is the slowest genocide the world has seen...

Most Canadians think we do not need a military....don't pretend Canadians support our military or it would not be in the state it is in today.....Canadians would rather have more social programs, and foreign aid...And that's not just a left ideal, it crosses over into conservatives as well.

I think that the last 10 plus years the liberals and the left have really done damage to this country, to bad you can't see that. And I've worked hard to get to where i am now, and now am watching leftist policies erode all of that....

Ya, we grabbed a lot in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Germany, Somalia, etc etc... Actually if you check history the liberal government has sent our military on the most missions...go figure the left loves a good photo op with the troops...they just hate equipping them for the job....until now apparently....

It's been in the media for decades, recently every month there has been a story about the military and its current state, and some how your acting like it is a surprise, "how come i never heard of it...." you have over and over but you have decided it was not worthy of your time or personally don't give a rats ass....Canada has the military it wants, depleted , and harmless or they would have stepped up and demanded the government say something....Governments wil do what ever they can get away with....our inaction has put our military in a place it is now... In comes Carney, brings our military spending to 2 %, which is a point for his side, Kudo's on him as it was not suppose to happen until 2030....then he agreed to up that to 5 %....or approx. 150 bil on our military every year....by 2030 i think his date is...and it has not been received well by the majority of Canadians as they are afraid of where this additional funding will come from...even conservatives are saying that is way to much, even if we cut every liberal social program it is still not enough... Personally i think it is way to much, and i was in the military.....and we as Canadians will never see that 5 % in my life time regardless of what Carney promises.......do i think we need to spend more on our military, yes i do...at least until we have a force that is capable of working within our defense agreements like NATO, NORAD, 5 EYES, etc...right now we can barely do one let alone all three at the same time...All most everything we have right now in the military needs replacing...we are talking about hundreds of bils , just to maintain what we have right now... So let me ask you the question do you think it is to much, and what programs are we going to cut to afford an additional 100 plus bil a year to make this happen...or do we raise taxes....

Right now , if your 17 to 57 years old, medical fit your find your name will be on a list some where....they don't care about your political preferences....not your hair style , color of skin, sexual preference, your pronouns, or your type....Traditional the right has made up most of the military numbers it's part of their morals and values...., the left well, they do not share the same morals and values....serving their nation is beneath them, and when they do join it does not take long for them to convert.....So ya everyone is their type, sooner or later...

I wonder why Canada or any western democracy to be honest is so dependent on the US to defend them...I mean we have given up long ago....decades upon decades ago....and now Canadian are pissed when they have to spend funding meant for future social programs on defense...HOW DARE THEY....Canadians have no one to point their fingers at except themselves...

Yes and it shows , i mean look at our health care, education system, policing , homes prices, almost every other department in the federal government....all over whelmed....SO yes bringing in more immigration is better for the economy HOW you figured that is questionable.........Carneys new housing plan will build 26000 new homes, (in 5 Years) but immigrations levels will be 5 million plus...That math has got to be good for the economy....I can't wait to see this country in 5 years...it's going to be an economical wonder....

1...Are they generous, please explain , perhaps provide some examples...Military has some very strict arcs of fire, in which they have to operate, Yes the generals and everyone in the military has their own agendas, how to improve their jobs and completion of tasks, and the lives of their subordinates...other than that they are controlled on what they can or can not do... 2....Very few of NATO Countries have the same abilities, but they all have one thing in common, the ability to conduct ground , air and Naval combat in high intensity environments...And although we do not have marine units, , our Infantry bns do exercise in amphibious landing with our naval forces...And yes the US does have a huge SAR force, Coast Guard, army, air force, and navy, along with many civilian organizations... 3.... Thats a myth, Our regular forces may exercise maybe twice a year due to lack of funds, fuel, ammo, and other support units maybe once a year if they are lucky....As for the trades being more specialized, thats what happens when you have a small military does not mean we are better just that our troops have a wider knowledge base....In the Canadian military a mechanic trains on specific veh types, each type requires a special course ie LAV, Leopard tank, wheeled vehs, etc... 4.... I think it is a little more than a division, US airborne forces are not conventional in any means... US army has always had a ground force in Alaska...Anyone operating in the artic has to have a high degree of winter warfare, that's what the specialize in ...Just because we have winter here in Canada not all troops are qualified for winter warfare... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_Alaska LAV does have "some" advantages over track...But nothing out performs a tracked veh in all environments, LAVs get stuck constantly in rough terrain or heavy mud...which tends to be where they operate the most.. 5...What RO -RO ships do we have....anything we do use is rented or contracted....and they do not do hostile areas . If you had seen the vehicle grave yard in Afghanistan i think you would change your mind about LAVS....ask the Russians what they think of their wheeled IFV...ask the Ukrainian what they think of their Bradly's... Canada does operate on the same battle field as the US, we use the same tactics, as the US for the most part on every operation we are part of a much larger US force...Our battle groups or Brigades are Light mechanized Infantry, and will be used like any US light mechanized unit... Our doctrine and roles are the same, as any matching NATO unit, which is why we are interoperable....Take our Battle group in Latvia, it comprises 6 or 7 different NATO units which make up the brigade everyone operates the same way...

Yes it is pricy and that is in the rural areas....move into the city and your taxes will jump from 6 to high 8000.00 a year...There is no seniors or primary residence grant here unfortunately... Prices of home sky rockets when we had a huge influx of people coming from Ontario, selling their million dollar homes and working from home here in NB, Both my next door Neighbors purchases sight unseen for 400,000.... 5 years ago.... now selling his home for over 700,000...This is all across the Maritimes, even a mobile trailer cost more than 300K, and the government is cashing in as well with sky high property taxes.
