The deployment of the marines are just another tactic, to make the Iranians deploy forces over wide areas to protect against a landing....much like Iraq. Using them to seize anything without the full weight of US/Israelis forces Army, navy, air force, would be a waste of lives.... Using SOF forces with maybe Rangers to seize key nuclear weapons facilities to ensure total destruction then pull out might be worth the risk.... Lets not forget Iranian ground forces still can project power enough to make a marine landing impossible...Start sending body's back to the US in large numbers and support for this campaign will be quickly over....A much better option would be to destroy those terminals from the air....Take their ability to rebuild their forces with oil revenues away for years... Some of the new artic kit is crap...new winter sleeping bag, is garbage, the old one was a lot better but heavy and was a three piece system....the major problem was not all troops are given winter gear, like the parka, instead they make due with a combination of fall jacket/ and fleece, same as the heavy bib overall, just not enough in the system for issue to everyone... Now did these troops have access to artic kit not sure...but in my days in Petawawa not everyone was issued the extreme cold kit...and it gets cold in Petawawa in the winter with temps getting as low as -40-45... There is not much money for training these days, basic winter warfare is only a couple of weeks long....you really can't train someone to survive in the winter in that time and going north of 60 you need to have your poop in a pile...So soldiers and leadership could be lacking the proper training not saying they are but there is a possibility........and you really can't teach all the subject indoor in a classroom....Our unit use to do 2 maybe 3 weeks on ex in the winter...not much time really...considering that back in the day the army was on exercise 8 to 9 months out of the year...today you might be lucky with 6 weeks...summer and winter...

I'm trying to understand what your thinking here, your ok with Iran being a dick, killing it's citizens and sowing terrorism around the middle east , because your afraid of paying more at the pumps... Here is the funny part, if the liberals had built all those pipelines like energy east, etc, Canada could be now fulfilling all those lost production quotas for the US and Europe boasting our GDP by enormous amounts...we could be burning Alberta oil instead of middle eastern oil in Atlantic Canada, plus exporting LNG to Europe....and using those profits to jump start our economy and making us an energy super power.... I think one could say immigration is needed and for decades we had a very reasonable immigration policy....and if one traces the origins of our immigration woes, it starts in 2016 once liberals introduced new immigration numbers in an attempt to jump start our economy...and some of it has done that ...but as you explain to the determinate of working Canadians, but also the government did not have the insight to handle all the problems it creates such as lack of investment into proper infra structure, lack of investment into upgraded services, and today we are where we are because of the lack of the government thinking the problem all the way though... we know what needs to be done, and yet somehow we as a country decided to invest in other areas....like our military, foreign hand outs, making sure we look good, when we are bleeding a good portion of those immigrants to other countries because we can not control the other issues that are part of the issue....like health care, education ,housing, other services....the solution would be to return to those past immigration levels...that worked for decades, invest in our infra structure, and services, or we can pretend mass immigration is not the problem along with all the other issues it has brought to the table. and continue to increase this problem from massive to out of control which is where we are headed right now...
