Yes there will be an impact, but not as large as our economy will feel, we are talking the worlds largest economy 30 trillion...and what is Canada ranked 10 th... or about 2.28. So that's the plan then wait for the US government to cave, and force Trump into letting us off the hook for all the issues he has with us....That is not what he does, he is way to vindictive for that.... https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-by-country/ That's not what I'm saying sign a deal for the sake of a deal, what I am saying is Canada is going to have to concede something big to bring any deal back on track....supply management might be the beginning...and we should not have to sacrifice 4 other industries to protect one that does not match the return to GDP as the other 4...Supply management is a political foot ball, it means votes in Quebec and Ontario , but it does not mean the death to our GDP as a whole... This whole trump said , Greer said is all talk, it is how trump negotiates it is who he is....51 St state thing was to get into our heads and it worked so well, every Canadian is scared to death they might invade, or be swallowed up by the US ...trump has shown Canada all his cards on his first term, and like everything else Canada forgot them once he left office...We already know what the US is looking for....they made that clear at the beginning....Carney should be able to compromise give them what they want , and get tariffs off steel and aluminum, auto sector, lumber.... They can't be idO!ts or Carney would have a deal already...I mean he is the man for the job, getting a deal from id!ots should be a simple task...We need to stop poking the bear, and drop all this they are the enemy, and start being the allied we once were...because if this escalates as it will, it is going to get a lot worse for Canada.. we can not compete against an economy that is 15 times larger than ours...

Hopefully it is chatter, but i would not put it past him if his polls improve to take that route... Time will tell, I'm sure that if more cross they may be another review....maybe, but conservatives are happy with PP so who knows... Canada is in a tough spot now, and what it needs is leadership, and for it to take some action on a truck load of issues that need solving now, not next year or the year after , that was Justin's bag of tricks kick it down the road let someone else look after it...Carney has already let year one tick by...if we do go to the polls people are going to be second guessing their choices....Liberals are well past their due date....and are showing they are not up for the task....banker or not...And to be honest i do like a lot of carneys promises, not as much as PP, but for the first time in a long time they were promising.......but I've been disappointed by liberals far to many times...Regardless of party lines, Canada needs true leadership, and it needs someone that can take action in a timely fashion...And i don't see that in the liberals at this time...

That's not what I'm saying at all, I'm saying is there might not be a cusma deal at all...if trump does not agree to any of it...which will open all Canadian trade to tariffs....So for the sake of the country, i would take the best deal possible which is probably not what you or the majority of Canadians want....but what is in the best interest of the country...Trump holds most of the cards here, not sure why you can't see that... I'm not spinning anything, the only thing protecting our trade right now is Cusma period, without it, or a deal tariffs could be placed on every product that crosses the border...Failure on that front would mean extremely hard times for Canada... all the US would have to do is tighten up tariffs and wait us out...While Canadians try and eat their pride, and ego's which is something that taste like sh!t... You appear the type that is willing to risk everything unless the outcome is in your benefit which will never happen, thats not how trump works....Reality states something much different....we keep poking the bear and things are going to get worse....we will not be able to replace the US as our largest customer for decades....and our standard of living will drop drastically...I don't know about you but i would rather keep my current state of living , rather than risk everything because of my hatred for a man who will not be in the government in a few years. Think things are tough now wait until he tariffs everything...

I hear rumors Carney is looking for a majority...And election would be his best bet, unless his support drops out...things are not look so good in the polls lately...But i don't see a Carney majority speeding up liberals pace to solve problems...
-
You just said you voted orange....is that not the NDP, like i said nothing to brag about....Neither is voting liberal but it is better than NDP....And lets not pretend eyeball you would have taken your own life before voting Conservative... No not shell shock, or TBI (traumatic brain injury) i had PTSD two different things...But thanks for asking...

the problem with leadership Is that the reality of the situation, or is that the liberal narrative...I don't see it that way , i mean they just had a review would that not come up then... It has ben almost a full year, when dozens of other countries have already signed agreements... I understand getting the best deal possible, but it has to be weighed against what we stand to lose with no deal....our failure to diversify our trade has lead us dependent on the US, it is too late to correct that in short notice....right now 4 of our largest industries are hurting because of tariffs or a lack of a deal...at some point you have to draw a line in the sand that we might have to sacrifice something to just get a deal, before those industry collapse, which might mean Canada might have to give up something like the dairy cartel which for some reason is the golden lamb...The play book for dealing with trump has already been written, and yet we constantly poke the bear...It sends a clear signal that we really don't want a deal, Carney is putting his ego before the country, my opinion....He needs to look like the tough guy ...when Canadians jobs and careers are hanging by a thread...
-
I guess we will have to see, Carney might just do that to improve his standing and get a majority , it would be a great move....3 out of 145 is not devasting....just a question how many has Carney sent our to pasture... What is this majority going to bring Carney, is it going to bring his promises into reality...make things move much quicker....i mean he is only 3 seats away form a majority....i hope you are not using that as a excuse for no action being done to date...this summer is going to be the make or break for carney...we will see what happens with Cusma negotiations, and then the entire country will see if he is the man to handle trump.

Canada is in denial, and has been for decades.
Army Guy replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And yet liberal voters voted him in 3 times, think about that for a moment, 3 times fully knowing the damage he was doing....and somehow we have to trust liberal voters for picking the right guy once again... -
I would not be bragging about voting NDP, did you watch the candidates on stage, i mean come on, those are the best people you could round up....you could do better at the insane asylum...and their platforms are something out of grade 2 , I'm not judging ok yes i am, it is telling when people say the voted NDP...
-
Apparently that message is not getting through to any of the liberal voters....Frankly the liberal party makes it way to easy, with the lies and deceit and lets not forget the inaction...And it is not what hacks do it is what all Canadians should be doing keeping the government in charge accountable to the people....key word is people , all Canadians... You would have a valid point, but lets not forget it is the same liberal voters that kept Justin in power 3 times in a row, so you'll have to excuse our distrust in your ability to pick the right man for the job....Carney has a lot of good ideas, more than any other liberal in recent history, my desire is for him to start taking action on one of them....His inaction on many files he was elected on is telling, either they can't be fixed or he he is the wrong man for the job....
-
I get it , but that's not how most Canadians vote, they are voting for the party that has the best platform, having the name attached to the ballot is really a moot point, what can one individual sitting as an independent really do in parliament, they can't enact any campaign promises, they have one vote, yes they can submit laws or bills but they have no real traction in parliament... It's the parties that hold the real power... And if that party wins the election, one still has regional representation, plus the power to make things happen for that region...mean while an independent MP really has no say in parliament, nor the power to influence government.

Just a reminder, all those problems created over the last 11 years were brought to us by the liberal government, the same government that created those problems have the original plans and most of the master minds that created them, it should not be that hard to reverse engineering them and find a solution. Given that the conservatives have already come up with some of them.... And while the people are not expecting total solutions in one year, we are looking for some results, and all we have seen is the creation of more red tape and employment opportunities for more bankers.. Canadians on the right are tired of liberal lies, and fake promises...what they are looking for is leadership any kind of leadership would be great. No, he was touted as better than sliced bread, which we agree is pretty damn good, but so far all we have seen or all he has delivered is burnt toast...and his shelve life depends on liberal voters, the same ones that have delivered us into this place we sit right now....if liberals can not deliver on their promises maybe it is time for them to step aside...
-
I'm just wondering again, what has this polished and globally respected banker, lets not forget business leader delivered as of today, the guy that touted he was better suited to deal with guys like trump, a guy with a plan to spend hundreds of bils to get our economy going again, the guy that promised to build more houses since WWII , and build an energy coridor right across the nation....and almost a year later what is it we have NO deal with trump, in fact they are not even talking about a deal, trump is looking at pulling out of Cusma altogether a major failure......... the plan to invest bils into our economy...after a year nothing...A promise to build more homes...to date has built 9 homes in one year....not bad for a 13 bil investment major failure.... Energy corridor is still in the planning phases, along with all those approved projects...still waiting....failure....I mean it was refreshing to hear all this new exciting plans coming out of a liberal government office.. today everyone is wondering where is the beef....we have heard all the fancy speeches and promises, what is lacking is action....any action would be good...maybe you could take some time and let us know what all these things he has done that he has promised to do...I mean you continue to talk him up, as better than sliced bread...but all we are seeing is burnt toast...make us believers...
-
No that's not how it works....any candidate that runs under a party banner must be approved by the "party"...or run as an independent, they will be vetted for many things one of them is electability....Independents have no real power in the house, unlike a party member who can bring many things to his riding....Most voters vote for the party they want to be in power...or who they want as PM...not some Candidate that may not even have a role to play in the sitting government...or they vote for someone else because they don't want a certain party to win...ie all those NDP votes that went to the liberals because they did not want PP to win....

Again, I'm not a rocket scientist, but Carney is the leader of the Liberal party, which is on the left side of the political spectrum....maybe I'm wrong , things may have changed, nope all of the liberal lies are still the same.........Let me guess you think Carney leans to the right side of things....sometimes, he has stolen more than one of PP ideas....but that does not make him conservative... Kudos to your grand father, sounds like an amazing man, with an amazing story.....at least he got off of the couch and stepped up for the country, we have that in common....As for NAZI's , it's been over 80 years since that war was declared over, you need to move on, everyone else has, Germany is now an allied....with most of the NAZI's dead due to old age.... Our nations enemies have changed and it seems that Canadians are consumed to ripping this nation apart by themselves.... I'll give you a little history lesson, it was the liberal government that allowed Nazi's and war criminals to immigrate to Canada by the thousands...Also the same liberal government that sent back a ship full of Jews fleeing the NAZI's back to Europe and into the hands of the Nazi's....Nice guys all of them...and this is the party you support....And who is the Nazi lover now... You keep pulling this misinformation from out of that 1/4 inch speaker located in your anus...You really need to do better, take some time and think a little before responding reread your liberal party handbook, take some notes, do some goggle searches...come up with some zingers....at least some that are not 80 plus years old... -

The left has played a huge role into getting us to this place today...and has a majority of the blame to shoulder...You can blame me if it helps you sleep at night.... I mean anything for the chick who destroyed foreign interference on a national scale...single handily, i'm in awe....really...I'm sure vets across the nation are handing in their medals to be melted down so they can produce one as big as your ego, with a huge one you can wear around your neck for everyone to see...one that weighs in about the same as your claimed accomplishments... your mom must be proud... -
Are Alberta Separatists Committing Treason?
Army Guy replied to TreeBeard's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well Canada does have policies that describe what is required for any province or group to separate, must be in there for a reason, i mean Quebec has tested it for decades....they even had their own referendum, are they putting there interest before Canada's....maybe we should examine what drove them to that point first before passing judgement...Do you think the west gets fair treatment from the ROC ? ... A while ago i posted a survey done about who would defend Canada 13 percent of those polled said they would volunteer for military service....a whole whooping 26 % would join the civil service... And if occupied by a foreign country, only 15 %would engage in armed resistance, while 39 % would engage in non violent protests.... Now I'm not a rocket scientist....But judging by these numbers the majority of Canadians are not interested in either fighting for the country, which reflects how Canadians feel about their country, and how much patriotism they really have towards the nation.......Which brings me back to your question do i have disdain for those that want to leave...No i don't, and it seems neither does the majority of Canadians...do i want to see it our nation broken up, no i don't it would be catastrophic to the majority of Canadians depending on CPP, OAS, Government pensions, any pension really, end of health care and any and all government services...So who do i really dislike, well the governments that brought all of this on, And the Canadians that voted these guys in year after year...and all those Canadian that sat idle while it happened... If that's how you see it, Canadians fighting Canadians...sure, don't you think that is another example of how divided we are, why not take action to repair those relationships now before it gets violent....I seen first hand in former Yugoslavia how their war tore apart communities, neighbors fighting neighbors, separations along religious lines, along ethnic lines, and killing just for the sake of killing....entire communities leveled to the ground, war had touched every inch of that country...entire communities ethnically cleansed except for a few people who would tell about the massacre that took place....No thank you it is not a war worth fighting, once you let that the devil out of the bottle...it does not want to get back inside, until everything you know is completely changed or destroyed... https://cascadeinstitute.org/willing-to-fight-op-ed/ -

First of all i live in NB, i was born in Alberta, i did not attend any meetings with our neighbors down south, nor do i belong to any separation group.... but i do believe they have a right to explore separation, as does any rpovince, Quebec has been doing it for decades and have they been declared traitors.....so i do not fit into any of those definitions you describe, and EBY is a fruit cake who's interest is with BC and not the nation....And your last comment kind of proves my point, anyone that dares to talk bad about the left is the enemy....and should be screamed at until they leave or you pass out red in the face... -

Must have been hard, did you protest, write long letters to the government, or was all this at your coffee shop with the girls....was anyone injured, shot at, blown up, dismembered, was the waiter rude, coffee cold, donut not fully cooked....did you have to escort the body of your best friend back to his family and try to explain to his wife how he died... with his little girl daughter hanging on to her moms leg as she broke down.... I'm sure your sacrifices were great in your own mind...and i hope you single handed won that foreign inter- refence battle...but i think the postman has sacrifices more for this country than you will ever have... Anyways thank you for your sacrifices, and your thoughtful posts, your a true liberal , you should be proud... -

You should really read the Canadian version of the definition of what makes a traitor, and show the forum which of my post fits into that description....or maybe it is just you jumping to conclusions, another leftist trait... -

Personally i don't care what you think of me, it is not the first time I've been insulted for serving the nation.....and i'm sure it will not be the last....that's the lefts calling card anything they disagree with, is the enemy...spent 34 years defending this country, i would hardly call it hatred...disappointed would be a better word looking back at it all........people like you find it very easy to judge others...while vets like myself don't really don't value your opinion, it is like all the other back ground noise....we not only fought for our nations policies and values but as soon as we came back and asked to be looked after , our country and people much like you, had long forgotten about any of us Vets...in return what got fancy phrases like "we are asking for more than we can provide" or called traitors' scumbags... because we were not touting the liberal party line.... -

Come on Chrissy, you can do much better , i mean you got all day to think up insults.......You need to do better....your a card carrying lefty for crying out loud....That's the problem with the left, they are not very creative, except when screaming into the wind...about the right... -

Sure it is, the liberal portion of the country depends on Alberta and the other western provinces for almost everything...so ya why would they want to end all of that ?.....the western province want a voice , they want a say , how hard is that to understand....it seems the only province that has a voice is Ontario, Quebec....why can the western provinces have the same rights, and voice...Because they are not liberal, hardly seems fair...
