  1. It is one of the best new productions from HBO in years; the US reviews offer nothing but praise. I was afraid I would be disappointed but it is more than I ever expected, and my understanding is that future episodes will not disappoint. This review was posted on another forum and I found it helpful in filling in some of the blanks, which were many upon my first viewing. http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/tv/review-game-of-thrones-premiere-hbo.php
  2. Pray tell where did he say it was "set up by the opposition"....I have read it three times and I do not see where he said that.
  3. As a newbie here, Grimbzy, I found your post of interest, thanks. There were several things that I have never heard discussed, here or elsewhere.
  4. No one is taking the position that the word “coalition” was used in public or in the letter to the GG; that is an established fact so all the videos, articles, blog postings are totally unnecessary and redundant. Duceppe contends that Harper discussed a ‘coalition’ in a private meeting with he and Layton and if Harper denies that then he is a “liar”. That is the issue….not what they said to the press or in their letter. Who is lying is the issue. Flanagan said a “co-opposition” accord was a “perfectly legitimate exercise” aimed at exploring whether there was “common ground for the Conservatives to undertake a minority government.” Sounds much like a coalition to my ears.
  5. Exactly, I went to Sunday School and church to learn about religion; I was in school to acquire knowledge that would allow me to be a contributing member of society. I believe this was said previously, probably several times, but I think it is worth repeating, if parents want the school system to teach their children the tenets of Christianity; they should enroll them in Christian schools and leave the public schools to teach an academic curriculum.
  6. There is a difference in teaching about Jesus’s birth and death and teaching the theory of evolution in Science classes. Creationsim is part of bible study, not the study of Science.
  7. I thought churches were the place for children to be taught about religion and religious holidays.
  8. I don’t think it was meant to be hard; I posted it to illustrate what Toad Brother (and others) have said, Americans did not want the Irish immigrants either.
  9. So true........take the quiz........ http://reformimmigrationforamerica.org/blog/
  10. Yeah, Shady, tell these CEO's and their stockholders that story , I am sure they would like to hear that from you. I suspect that the counter suit filed by Brewer is nothing but a red herring to cover up the economic woes suffered by AZ after the passage of this law. http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2011/03/16/ceos-legislature-back-off-immigration.html
  11. Many people tried to caution Arizona about the law of unintended consequence but it took the silence of cash registers before the message was heard.
  12. Simon "loves her". http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1367627/Simon-Cowell-loves-Rebecca-Blacks-YouTube-hit-Friday.html
  13. Doubtful that this Republican, Roger Ailes, will be apologizing to Palin http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/03/palin_ailes_tk.html
  14. Not to worry, the bible is being cleansed of all liberal thoughts...a bible that conservatives can follow. http://www.alternet.org/story/143506/conservatives_are_rewriting_the_bible_to_free_it_from_%22liberal_bias%22
  15. Sarah Palin, the new Al Sharpton? As in the tradition of the old GOP that I once supported, they are looking for a leader not a role-playing victim. Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/51218_Page2.html#ixzz1GcTgjdjs
  16. I think it is a Conservative world view who is fuzzy here but maybe I should have been more specific rather than nuanced in my comment.......Sarah Palin considers herself the victim, and plays the role masterfully. She has the support of many women groups, Concerned Women for America, Independent Women’s Council, Women of Joy, Feminist for Life, Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, etc.
  17. Rejoicing in tragedy is mindless malevolence unbecoming to one who professes to be a Christian.
  18. before he does, I do wish he would provide us with a link for this:
  19. While King’s fear mongering hearings were going on in Washington DC, terrorists of a different persuasion, a white separatist group, were receiving publicity in Washington state after an arrest was made in the MLK parade bombing attempt. http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly/2011/03/erich_gliebe_national_alliance.php# Edited to add this link on an anti-government terrorist group in Alaska. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/03/sovereign_citizens_arrested_in_alaska_for_alleged_plot_to_kill_police_federal_judge.php?ref=fpblg#
  20. One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter, and that is not a strawman position.
  21. No doubt , I seem to encounter that frequently.
  22. Guess it is a generational thing
  23. Total agreement; the other Bernstein (unreleated) Elmer was another of my favorites: To Kill a Mockinbird, The Magnificent Seven, The Ten Commandments, The Great Escape, and Ghostbusters. My favorite of all time...Gone with the Wind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lSMFAkJpbA
  24. Shady, you are the one who cited the linkage between this man and the cancelled event, the pièce de résistance, you called it. After your lamentation that his threats were not made I public, I simply showed you that you were in error….it was public information. I will ask you, as did AW, show us where he was dealt with by the FBI.
  25. She’s back on again, same city, different event. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/08/sarah-palin-gop-primary-debate-fundraiser_n_832829.html
