Romney, The Inevitable Nominee

No, Ryan like Romney came from a privileged background. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/11/mitt-romney-paul-ryan_n_1767818.html?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=TOPin -
Romney, The Inevitable Nominee

I don’t see Christie as a loose cannon but as a straight talker, much like a Harry Truman. I know he can be abrasive but hearing the truth often rubs people the wrong way. To date, he has been a successful governor of a traditionally Blue State and has a high approval rating. I think Christie would have great appeal with independent voters but social conservative voter support would be questionable. Christie would have given the impression of a more centralist administration; the selection of Ryan has confirmed that, if elected, we will have one of the most conservative, radical right administrations in our history. -

I didn't see it like that; that pick lost him alot of Republican voters that would have voted for anyone other than Palin. He had some good options that would have refelcted better on his judgement. True Obama had the money advantage and the Bush record advantage but McCain was respected by both parties and with the right VP choice could have captured some of the Hillary supporters. -

McCain's pick made a huge difference..it reflected very poorly upon his judgment. I think it remains to be seen how Romney's choice plays out but I agree that the bold move would have been Christie and it was the one that Democrats feared the most. -

Bold move is the spin they are putting on it, and it is being echoed by every conservative pundit. They are hoping it will be seen as a means of bolsterting Romney's independent and visionary thinking. Twelve reasons why it may not be so smart.... http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/08/11/677171/12-things-you-should-know-about-vice-presidential-candidate-paul-ryan/ -
A new one just surfaced this week from teabagger, Jerome Corsi, Obama was once married to a gay Pakistani man, proving that he is a homosexual or maybe a bi-sexual. http://www.ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=12643&MediaType=1&Category=26

Great observations! Sophisticated investors and tax planners are mystified about Romney's IRA account, which can only be answered with the release of his past tax returns. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-07-15/the-secret-behind-romney-s-magical-ira.html -

Bitsy replied to kraychik's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
And now for the truth of the matter............. There have been stories in the media today commenting on the Department of Energy (DoE) loan guarantees Fisker Automotive received. We wanted to give you some more information. •The Fisker Karma is the world’s first environmentally-responsible luxury sedan with a unique hybrid electric powertrain developed by a highly-skilled team of engineers and designers in America. •Not a single dollar of the DoE loans has been, or will be, spent outside of America. All expenditures are reviewed by PwC (PriceWaterhouseCoopers) on behalf of the DoE. •After receiving the DoE loan, Fisker made it a priority to create U.S. jobs which led to the purchase its own assembly plant in Delaware where we plan to establish production of our second, higher volume, line of vehicles (Project Nina). •There are currently over 100 workers reconfiguring the Delaware plant so that Fisker will be ready to begin hiring a skilled hourly workforce to producing its Nina platform vehicles in the U.S. for sale around the world. Many of these Delaware costs are covered by the DoE loans. •For the Karma program, the DoE loan money was used solely in the U.S. to fund design, engineering, and integration work. •Only private equity financing, of which we have raised over $600 million so far, has been used for costs not covered by the DoE loans, of which only a small part is production costs in Finland. •The majority of our private funding has been used to create jobs, including 650 people at Fisker’s headquarters in California, over 100 at the Delaware plant and many more at various suppliers throughout the U.S. •At the inception of the company, Fisker explored the possibility of producing the Karma in the U.S. However, there are no contract manufacturers like Valmet in the U.S., and none of the established domestic automakers were willing to partner with Fisker to provide a manufacturing option in the U.S. that would work for the Karma program. Our assembly arrangement for the Karma was in place before the DoE loans were approved, and has been widely reported on since 2009. http://media.fiskerautomotive.com/global/en-us/Media/PressRelease.aspx?mediaid=567&title=fisker-statement-re-misleading-news-reports -

The left gushes over its leaders.
Bitsy replied to kraychik's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Kraychik, thanks for making the distinction for me; these children were obviously children of parents who supported Obama and were actively getting out the vote. What is wrong with that? I have seen many young children at Tea Party rallies carrying signs supporting tea party positions and candidates. Shall I start with this...... http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/05/05/tea-party-holds-presidential-debate-rally-south-carolina You bethca there was a difference; Obama was not being prayed for by children asking for Jesus blessings in front of a huge life-size cutout. Kraychick, you seem to often confuse lying with miscommunication, a lie is a deliberate attempt to deceive but oftentimes thereis a communication problem as in this case. I was not lying; I assumed (wrong of me, I know) that you were speaking of the school in New Jersey that was in the public spotlight for their video of the 2nd grade class singing a song about Obama. That is the one that made all the headlines; I was not even aware of this get out the vote video. You are right; I should have watched the video. I have several suggestions as to how you can fare better but they would fall on deaf ears. -

Actually, kraychik, the school was celebrating black history month as well as Presidents Day, which was a couple of weeks after our first black president was inaugurated. At the same program, other classes sang songs about George Washington and Abe Lincoln. No outrage there? -

There seems to be a big misunderstanding, as Ed Gillespie give us the facts, Romney retired retroactively. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-romney-and-his-time-machine/2012/07/16/gJQA9MYfpW_story.html?hpid=z2 -

They are hardly indistinguishable, kraychik. Fully three-quarters (75%) of those who identify with the Tea Party movement describe themselves as “a Christian conservative.” http://publicreligion.org/2011/10/new-factsheet-on-the-alignment-of-evangelical-and-tea-party-values/ The tea party is very much in control in Texas. There are no longer any moderate Republicans in my state, they have all been co-opted by the teabaggers. I am well aware of how the christians have influenced our schools but this is the first time that they have ever advocated removing critical thinking from our classrooms. No need to have a discussion with a teapartier, just take a look at what they propose for Texas public schools. American Identity Patriotism and Loyalty – We believe the current teaching of a multicultural curriculum is divisive. We favor strengthening our common American identity and loyalty instead of political correctness that nurtures alienation among racial and ethnic groups. Students should pledge allegiance to the American and Texas flags daily to instill patriotism. Controversial Theories – We support objective teaching and equal treatment of all sides of scientific theories. We believe theories such as life origins and environmental change should be taught as challengeable scientific theories subject to change as new data is produced. Teachers and students should be able to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these theories openly and without fear of retribution or discrimination of any kind. Early Childhood Development – We believe that parents are best suited to train their children in their early development and oppose mandatory pre-school and Kindergarten. We urge Congress to repeal government-sponsored programs that deal with early childhood development. Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority. Educational Entitlement – We encourage legislation that prohibits enrollment in free public schools of non-citizens unlawfully present in the United States. http://s3.amazonaws.com/texasgop_pre/assets/original/2012Platform_Final.pdf
