  1. Wow, that sounds like what Mitt Romney did at Bain Capital.
  2. But that is not what Shady said, and what exactly is the "economic system" that you blame? Republican or Demoractic systems?
  3. Well, I guess that answers that...you don't live in the US. I suspected as much. So carry on, I could care less where you live now that I know it is not here.
  4. Who is "us", Jerry. I was ignonred the first time I asked so I shall try again, where do you live in the US?
  5. Good try, bud, but the neo-con ideology is blind to consequences.
  6. Morsi received Obama’s subtle but pointed message that Egypt under their new government are not allies. Their “major non-NATO allies” privileges can be removed by the stroke of Obama’s pen and that their slow response to these events is not consistent with ally status.
  7. Guyser, as has been determined, I am not an expert on any topic but I do have background and history in living in Texas for 70+ years. So I shall give you a non-expert view, and I would say that God and Country is equally prevalant in Texas as in SC, Alabama, et al, in my opinion Yes, Texas is definitely part of the Bible belt, as is Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Bible belt is not bound by geography but more by lack of religious diversity, especially in the small rural towns in these states. I saw an exit poll published from a recent election, and I was astonished at the number of voters that called them Evangelicals, it was close to 70%. I grew up in a small town population 1200; the Southern Baptist church controlled the town . Dancing was a sin; finally in my senior year, we were allowed to have a homecoming dance in our school gym but the Sunday before the dance, the minister of the Baptist church asked the teens who wanted to rededicate their lives to Christ by not attending the dance to come to the alter for his blessing. Needless to say, my first school dance did not have a large attendance but it was a beginning and we did have fun. Until I went to college, I had no contact with a black person. Though I never saw it on a sign, I understand at onetime there was one that said, Don’t let the sun set on your black ass, nigger. Even though it wasn’t on a billboard, it seemed to be the town motto since the town never had blacks in any capacity, day or night. After college, I moved to Dallas where water fountains and restrooms were marked Whites and Colored; coloreds sat at the back of the bus; they were signs in store windows and restaurants No Coloreds allowed. Yet, there were churches on every corner professing their love of God and Jesus but would not allow a “colored” to join in their worship. These days are as fresh in my mind as the years that I lived them; they left an indelible mark. Times have changed but our religious right’s prejudices and exclusionary attitudes are broadened now to include illegal’s, LGBT, Muslims and liberals.
  8. I wish I could have said it as eloquently. I woke up after Reagan's first term for many of the same reasons; I think I ignored much during his first term but the impact that the religious right was having on Texas became so apparent during his second that it bcame impossible to ignore.
  9. Sorry, Waldo, I missed that. But I see that it makes no diffence in the opinion of some....I find it curious in the light of the other news of the day....Bibi wants the US to draw a 'red line' in regard to Iran or else. The opposition party in Israel even asked Bibi "Who do you want replaced, [iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad or [uS President Barack] Obama?"
  10. Good to know where you get your information on race in American, makes it much easier for me to ignore. When the discussion first began, I thought you might just be a victim of some mistaken legitimatacy but it is plain that was not the case.
  11. What would you guys say if I told you that Terry Jones was not the film maker but an Israeli-born Jew real estate developer in California made the film? http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/decision2012/anti-muslim-film-director-in-hiding-following-libya-egypt-violence/2012/09/12/72a6eda0-fcdc-11e1-8adc-499661afe377_story.html?hpid=z2
  12. Yes, I do and let me say up front...none that fit with Jerry's or Shady's alternate vision of life in the US of A.
  13. Are you actually saying that you do not have health insurance? Or are you saying that you did not submit these expenses, minus the condoms, to your provider?
  14. Shady, Shady, Shady, what alternate universe do you live in? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/21/business/worldbusiness/21iht-admin.4.18853088.html?pagewanted=all
  15. Chances are if the Republicans had let her testify before the committee, Sandra Fluke would never have been heard from again.
  16. Why should insurance companies pay for Viagra?
  17. Couple all that with the no balloon drop at the DNC, I am surprised that we are still standing.
  18. Jerry, do you or have you ever lived in the US ? If so, where? I am 70+ years old and have lived my entire life in the state of Texas; at one time controlled by a very racist Democratic Party. After LBJ betrayed the Texas Democrats by passing the Civil Rights legislation, the exodus began....so don’t tell me that is a Dem line, it is not a line it is a reality that I lived. If you want any establish any credibility in your opinions, you really need to do more research on some of those people you think are worthy of our time to read.....try again. Republicans don’t even like this man that you are linking. http://hoawrites.com/53rd-congressional-race-homosexual-slurs-libel-lawsuits/
  19. And all those Democrats became Republicans after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
  20. Shady, you really should familiarize yourself with what Lewis was speaking of going back to...the right to vote. And if you notice, he said state Republicans not Romney were trying to suppress the vote. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/06/john-lewis-speech_n_1862843.html?utm_hp_ref=elections-2012
  21. Citation from the CBO, not what Ryan says the CBO says. Thanks. Obama negotiated with Republicans and put Medicare and SS on the table during the debit debt level debate; Boehner walked away because he wanted more reduction that Obama was willing to give without some revenue increase. Citation please on the 40 billion per year additional revenue. The figures that I have seen says letting the cuts expire will generate 850 billion over 10 years. It appears that you are a denier so I can see why this would not be an issue for you. Romney is described as a climate change agnostic, Ryan a climate change denier. I believe in science and the evidence that it has provided; I think we are seeing the effects of global warming on a terrifying scale. Obama has raised fuel standards; he is negotiating a black carbon reduction initiative unfortunately his clean energy plans that has been stymied in Congress.
  22. For starters, Medicare, ACA, Social Security, expiration of tax cuts for wealthiest 2%, global warming
  23. Lots of speculation about 'mystery guest'....I am leaning toward Palin. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/29/who-convention-mystery-guest-new-gop-parlor-game/
  24. According to this, MSNBC and Fox aired the same speeches with the excpetion of Rep. Davis. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-falsely-accused-of-purposely-omitting-minority-republican-speeches/
  25. For those interested in our healthcare system and the truth of the cuts proposed by Obama, I suggested you read this. Most of the cuts from Obama's plan are to the private Medicare insurance plan put in efect by Bush in his effort to privatize Medicare. These Medicare advantage plans cost the government 12% more than regular Medicare; they are part of the costs that Obama is trimming. Private insurance companies should not be subsidized by taxpayers to cover seniors when the government plan can do it cheaper. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/22/us/politics/costs-seen-in-romneys-medicare-savings-plan.html
