Since I am the American who used the word applauding, while you used the word lapping, I want to restate my position, and correct your misconception about what I know. I applaud the fact that the regulation will not be changed. I am aware that Fox News is offered in some of Canada’s cable package just as I am aware that Sun News TV, after withdrawing their request for a must carry license, they were granted a license that is optional for cable/satellite to carry and will begin broadcasting sometime this year. Those are the facts as I know them to be.

As do I and that is why many Americans, included me, wish we had a regulation in place like Canada’s prohibiting broadcasters from airing “any false or misleading news”, hence we applauded the decision to keep the regulation intact.

If lapping up is the same as applauding you are correct. Many Americans are applauding a sage decision by the CRTC, there should be no place in broadcasting for false or misleading news.

Geez, everything is decaying your society; socialist, communist, gays, Muslims, atheists, single-parent households (I am sure there are others that I have forgotten).Rest assured that your society is not the end all/be all to the rest of society. The world does not revolve around your society and for that I am ever so grateful.

How sad is that

I have never read so much animosity against gays as I am reading in some of these threads. It makes me question if those expressing these fears know any on a personal basis. I have two cousins, male and female, both gay and they are self-sustaining, productive, loving and caring people; they have no agenda, they only want the same rights as all other citizens. I have known, socialized and worked with gays for 50+plus years and most share the same family vlaues and morals as any straights that I know...actually, they exhibit more than many of the straights that I know.

How can you blame the school system if someone does not show up in time for a scheduled meeting? Schools run on the clock, there are consequences for tardiness. I suggest that you look at the family for the scapegoat in that one. Schools also have consequences for disrespecting one's fellow student and teachers; I think you are looking for blame in the wrong places

Out of 100 countries researched for Newsweek’s “The World’s Best Countries” based on education, health, economy, quality of live, politics, etc, Canada ranked #7 overall but # 2 in education. Once again, Canadian teachers and schools should be applauded for educating children to compete with their peers throughout the world. As a parent, I would not worry that a particular partisan political view is reflected in some classes; my goal for my child is to get the tools and knowledge he will need to compete in the 21st century. If you think the studies reflect a partisan political viewpoint, this would be a good teaching moment for you, his family, to present him with an alternate view. The dinner table is a wonderful classroom.
