As always, Kimmy, a very good, clear post. I know many in Texas who fit the vision of your fist pumping roofer, often unemployed. -

Believe what you will, AW. The fact that you consider me ignorant and biased matters not to me. -

I do not know the teachings of other religions but I do know the teachings of the Methodist church, and my comment is based on those teachings. Your disagreement with my comment is noted but it in no way gives me pause to reconsider my opinion. -

Thanks, I learn something every day. The post was about radicalism in several areas, not just religion. I did not profess any knowledge of Islam in stating that the suicide bombers died for a belief. IMO, it was a mistaken belief that had been radicalized whether it be by religion, political ideologies, or culture differences, I made no judgment on that. I do not have time time nor the inclination to become involved in discussing my interpretation of the New Testament; every teaching there is opening to interpretation depending on the doctrine of your chosen denomination. Though, no Christian denomination that I am aware of tells Christians to murder innocents in the name of God. We are all products of our life experiences and the point you are contesting was prefaced with ‘in my opinon’. Obviously, you are of another opinion to which you are entitled. -

Please provide the link to the thread...I prefer reading things in context That said, I am of the opinion that the God I was taught would find any belief to be 'mistaken' that killed innocent people in his name. -

It was a deliberate gaffe that got the desired results....good cop, bad cop role playing by the president and the state department. Shady, please provide substantiation for this. To the best of my knowledge, this status is determined by the State and Defense departments without congressional input. I will await your vast knowledge on all things American. -

I can only speak to the religion that I know, I have no knowledge of the teachings of Islam or another religion. -

Yes, you are correct; I do mean our Christian fundamentalist when I speak of our “religious right”. You are also correct that I do not think fundamentalism is synonymous with Christianity. And, further, my life experiences agree that prejudices come in all sizes and flavor but in my opinion, they are more odious when they are from those who believe in the teachings of the New Testament. -

If Bibi shares your opinion that this analysis is stupidity squared then he should act on his own (with the support of Harper) and take out Iran’s nuclear facilities; they have the means to should they decide to use their full arsenal. As it stands, he is trying to provoke Obama to assist him in this task but to his credit, Obama is refusing to be intimidated by his ‘red line’ in the sand. It appears that the ball is now in Bibi’s court, and if he is successful in influencing our election, the public should be prepared for a war whose scope we have never known. We will know soon if Bibi thinks these experts are stupidity squared because my guess is that Obama will call his bluff and tell him to ‘go for it’. -
Jerry, were you aware that after the AIG bonus story broke, Congress was prepared to terminate TARP. It was a two tiered program and the second release of funds was in doubt by Congress in a January vote, which Obama threatened to veto and thus TARP remained in place, to the chagrin of many in his party. He further angered his party with TARP 2. Thanks for your correction of Shady’s misinformed opinion that Bush bailed out the auto industry.

I shall cede the floor to the self-described intellect and ask for specifics of your charge that "There were many culpable parties over several decades which led to the financial meltdown." -

Here's some very wise people to explain what it would take to "blow the shit out of their nuclear sites." I hope your PM has a chance to read this report since we know where he has chosen to stable his horses. http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/09/14-0 -

May I suggest that you watch Inside Job to see who ruined the world's economy. After that, we can talk. -
My only point is that you talk out of both sides of your mouth, and now you mentioned depression? Who said we sat around depressed? We voted and the man we elected kept the bus from going over the cliff. There was no money to seize the opporunity, Jerry, see that is why I know you are not a citizen. Banks were going belly up, stock markets were plummeting, industries were failing, businesses that weren't closing their doors were laying off people. And after saving the banks and their money they turned the screws on Obama and the country and sat on their money. Thats how greed works.....

Of course, you don't have to justify anything to me but after reading your less than sapient posts about the US for several months now, my curiosity was aroused. Owning property in the US and even having family here hardly qualifies your low-informed opinions as reality. You are speaking from talking points put out by the radical right wing of the Republican party, yours is merely parroting not a voice of personal experiences
