  1. Ford's use of the clause is perfectly legal and used precisely as it was intended when the Charter was passed in 1982. Specifically, to address provincial concerns about judicial overreach in the use of Section 2.
  2. Looks like the radical left wing Ontario ndp forgot to take their meds  this morning

The Horwath NDP never disrupted QP like this when the Wynne Liberals were disconnecting thousands of poor people from their hydro.

But Horwath sure raises a stink to protect the jobs of politicians.

NDP priorities, eh?    Says Ontario proud

It was a press release, he couldn't speak the words or offer anything for fear of upsetting some people, he preferred to tour a clothing factory doing selfies.  I guess touring around for photo ops and attending a Liberal fundraiser is more important then attending a memorial service for the Canadians who died on Sept 11 2001.

A press release? Too bad. He missed an opportunity to shed crocodile tears in public, a sight that is sure to delight his followers.

  5. Pierre Trudeau on notwithstanding: “It’s a way legislatures have of ensuring the last word is held by elected representatives of the people rather than by the courts.” (CHAN-TV Nov. 24, 1981)

  7. Why does Toronto need that many politicians anyway, Los Angeles with a high population has fewer Councillors. Toronto doesn't have as many MPs or MPPs either so it's not unreasonable to reduce the number of councillors. The not withstanding clause was put into the Constitution to prevent collective provincial rights from being trampled by a judge or by federal govt. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/legal-scholars-surprised-by-judge-s-reasoning-in-toronto-council-cuts-decision-1.4087964#_gus&_gucid=&_gup=twitter&_gsc=SvL6wxS Some constitutional law experts are scratching their heads after an Ontario judge declared that the new Progressive Conservative government’s mid-election cuts to the size of Toronto’s city council are unconstitutional because they violate freedom of expression rights.
  8. Ford is not overriding 'charter rights' as the notwithstanding clause is not about overriding the Charter but about the right of a democratically elected Govt. to over ride the selective interpretation of the Charter by un elected and non accountable judges. The province has the right to make changes, the not withstanding clause is there to prevent provincial rights from being trampled by a judge or by federal govt.

  10. According to this report it's happening http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-31/south-african-farm-murders/10013298 https://bigleaguepolitics.com/watch-black-south-african-radicals-chant-all-white-men-must-die/ If they go ahead with seizing farm land without compensation they could end up with no economy as in Zimbabwe, but it could be the start of it now. Shocking drop in agriculture behind 'surprise' recession Agriculture fell almost 30%, dragging the GDP number down https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/economy/2018-09-04-cyril-ramaphosa-has-a-recession-on-his-hands/ Would Russia be better -A delegation of 30 South African farming families has arrived in Russia’s farmbelt Stavropol Region, Rossiya 1 TV reports. The group says it is facing violent attacks and death threats at home. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/248587
  11. Do you think Trudeau would welcome them to Canada ?
  12. Trudeau didn't do any better this week when he told us that diversity leads to 'a form of entropy' - meaning a gradual decline into disorder. I thought he said diversity was our strength. I think it's more likely the issue here is that Trudeau doesn't know what entropy means. and no one asked him to explain. Guess his new slogan is now 'entropy is our strength' He also came up with a new word "responsibilizing." when he was speaking to Deloitte partners about leadership. We are going to need a new dictionary soon.

TV ad this morning - "We have to take action now if we want to save our democracy. We don't have time to wait for Robert Mueller."

I guess it marks the beginning of the end for those hoping "it's not over".

  16. Well, Britain’s first female sharia judge said the UK government has no right to prohibit Islamic polygamy. Amra Bone said “the government cannot ask Muslims not to have more than one wife. People have a right to decide for themselves.” According to The Times some 100,000 Muslims in the UK are currently married under sharia marriages not recognized by UK law. Many of these marriages are polygamous. The growth in sharia marriages is being driven by people under 30, part of a new generation which is more religious than their parents. Under sharia marriages, not recognized by the British state, women have none of the protections afforded to women under British law. Critically, this means they have no rights to any division of assets in the case of a divorce. Earlier this year a report found that Muslim women across Britain were systematically oppressed, abused and discriminated against by sharia law courts that treated women as second-class citizens. The 40-page report by Baronness Cox, a leading human rights campaigner, found women were pressured by their communities to use sharia courts rather than civil courts and were threatened and intimidated if they did not comply. https://clarionproject.org/uk-female-sharia-judge-muslims-have-right-polygamy-4/ and more on the U.K. and FGM https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-45442795? 19. Trudeau said he wouldn't be pushed around, well he has been and they did a deal behind his back. According to what I've read, Mexico and the U.S. have been negotiating for weeks without Canada at the table. Mexico's foreign minister is reported to have been to the White House 45 times and to Jared Kushner's home around 10 time. Apparently Canada's negotiating team are is heading back to NAFTA table in Washington .
  20. Apparently the more blood the better. Western countries don't seem to want to prosecute for fearing of offending cultural or religious sensibilities... sheez people can still slaughter their own food if it's on a farm and for their own consumption, none of these places are farms. I'd be surprised if the police did anything, maybe give a warning but that's all. It also required that an animal first be stunned and not regain consciousness before being drained of blood, this should apply to any religion, or slaughter should not be allowed.
  21. https://vladtepesblog.com/2018/08/27/ontario-muslim-family-ritually-slaughters-cow-in-back-yard/comment-page-1/ This is someone's blog showing the video but I saw this video posted by Tarek Fatah a respected Muslim journalist - how is this legal in Ontario? I've also seen other videos taken in the U.K. and elsewhere of animals slaughtered in backyards, how is this legal, how is this acceptable considering how the animals are slaughtered for Hal Hal ( which means they have to be alive when slaughtered, no stunning first) It also appears that the cow really was alive for a while while being skinned. Would the humane society intervene if called?
  22. This should be interesting cos it seems to me that Horwath of the NDP is increasingly more strident while engaging in untruths.
