Yes it's called oligarchy in the third world setting. In well over a century of Latin America records we can see that it would swing from open fascist-like dictatorship, to some form of quasi-democracy, to corrupt oligarchy and over again. It won't be going anywhere unless some radical change happens in the society itself, and what could be the chance of that?

It's about way more than sending a message and even "killswitch". As the incident in Ukraine with F-16 shows there's mandatory maintenance of certain critical functions that has to happen regularly. And as facts show now, an American administration can shut it down at any time with no notice or recourse. That can disable critical functions or even the fighter as a whole, if a mandatory update was missed. Guess in the easy times we glanced over it as a necessary maintenance (and the revenue stream for the manufacturer) but now the question cannot be avoided, what if it's another hook, same effect and way easier to maintain than the "killswitch"? Just imagine a not-so-hypothetical situation, a developing crisis in the Arctics with some hostile party (guess) but they happen to be buddies with the U.S. administration and the latter wants to "deescalate". All of a sudden you have to tantalize, to lift them off with critical functions disabled or keep grounded with nothing to deter the adversary. Or if Russia attacking Baltics or Poland. What kind of brainless carelessness could justify overlooking such possibilities, given all what transpired recently? Could it be for that very reason that UK has Typhoons, France Mirages, Sweden Gripens and a coalition of Europeans, Eurofighter? A critical dependence in such matters is measured not in dollars but in percent fractions of the independence and sovereignty lost.

Look you must have missed all the news, the threats against Denmark, a NATO ally; threats against Canada, NATO founding member and a long-time ally. Territorial claims against Canada, most recently. The conclusion: people like you are either permanently disabled in all senses, or they have to be permanent, patented !diots. I've no idea and not a slightest wish to know how you got to that state. But you made it, done deal and so I have no intent to discuss anything with the likes of you because it makes no rational sense. You can't talk to a wall. And there's no point in talking to an !diot. Makes sense?

It really can't work any other way at this point: the credibility of the U.S. as a trusted security partner will take decades to recover, in the very best, absolutely best scenario. Threats to NATO allies, Denmark and Canada? New territorial claims? Who, with a grain of a sound mind would dismiss them as some sick jokes. The U.S. can control these assets, the episode with Ukraine showed it clearly, and it's a clear weakness and a huge risk to national security to acquire them now. There's no avoiding this argument. The contract will be cancelled, one way or another.

I listened to Carney just now and I have to admit that as a leader he stands levels, in my estimate seven or eight above Poilievre.

Russia's asset or not: find one difference

There were warnings, harbingers, symptoms and signs: The takeover of the Republican party by MAGA, an authoritarian personality cult is quite unprecedented in the modern history. In the early 20s of the last century, Hitler and his circle established their party on the base of marginals and radicals. In contrast, the Republican party in the USA had a long, and as we thought, stable and reliable democratic tradition. The more astounding and fascinating to observe, in real time its complete decay and demise in such a short, in historical perspective, time. The catastrophic term and nomination of Joe Biden by the Democratic party. Biden wanted to rule like he's some master of the destiny, the time itself. Critical, existential challenges? Who cares, I want to rule like it's the blissful 1990s and who's there to tell me otherwise. What, the reality? Get lost! Then he fell half asleep before the critical job was done, and couldn't be reached by any reason or facts. A failure, and possibly the final one. The decay of democracy touched and affected all parts of the political system. It was a general slow unraveling, then a fall, degradation of the system as a whole. And the citizens couldn't care less. And the society watched it in a complete detachment and complacency. That was the main reason of everything we're seeing these days and all what's going to transpire. I see not a small, but no chance of it coming back together again. Where could such magic be found?

Russia's asset or not: find one difference

The question matters not now: Krasnov or not, he talks, walks and acts step in step, exactly and perfectly with what Krasnov would do. For all practical purposes, there's no difference. -
The lie of greatness will dissolve into dust

MAGA is a only a common, regular authoritarian personality cult, it has no ideas or principles other than "eat every peace of sh*t the orange clown will excrete". I honestly can't take it as a fair analogy. Perhaps, at least the voting part of the public century back was more reasonable and intelligent? -

In what way? And the opposites have been known to attract. -
The U.S. has grown tired and bothered with the rule of law and democracy. They are too pesky and messy. Why bother? Fkheads will march now all the way to the USSR 2.0 or NA Iran and won't scratch their brainless heads ones. No condolences here - they chose it in full knowledge and completely voluntarily. Bon voyage in the quest for the dumb grail of stupidity.

A clique of heads of very large corporations ruling with no laws, checks or restrains, obscured by a political curtain or even more or less openly. -

It's called corporatism, for corporate fascism -
After Trump ordered a shutdown of passing the satellite information including that that was used in missile early warning system, Russia launched a massive missile attack in which people died. Republicans now have blood of innocent people that could have been prevented and was prevented before, on their hands. And it'll keep adding, from here. And none of this is going away. Ever. Centuries on, as long as the history persists, every shameful name will be recalled and recited with disgust and disdain. The Trump party. The Maga party. How can it be washed off? No, it'll stick on for all time now.

The end result of the stupidity odyssey will not be some glorious moment of greatness far in the past but the new USSR, rUsSiA 2.0: isolated, bitter and absolutely useless for anything good. It would be a sad but entirely predictable end of a great promise, if the sane part of the society will not find the will and resolve to mobilize and resist it. Right about now. Two years down, it'll be a totally different country. They know it and fully count on it. Only minds completely consumed by sleepy complacency, fat and entitlement would be willingly sleepwalking past this line of no return.
