For some/many the entourage of power has superseded the essence of democracy: the rule of law and justice, responsibility of the governments, freedoms of the citizens. Their loyalty is to the system that feeds them, ahead of the citizens, the democracy and the Constitution. If, somehow, the U.S. manages to return to sanity, a major overhaul of Democratic party will be in order. The old elites, complacent, entitled and incompetent need to be kicked out to explore their talents elsewhere. There will be no question of the loyalty: the system serves the citizens and the democracy, not the other way around. And for the Republican party, the party of Trump and Maga there can be no place in the renewed democracy.

If you (ever) get an intelligible answer to that from a Maga brain, please call me.

From here, Republican party isn't coming back into the normal world. Either there will be a new party in democratic America; or democracy will cease to exist in America. Both, the Republican party in its form today and democracy cannot be found together. This level of moral decay is simply incompatible with even a minuscule fraction of a minimal standard needed to sustain democracy.

Russia's asset or not: find one difference
myata replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't normally comment on Maga junk but here you can see a typical example of the lying propaganda: stating something off the air, with no credible evidence as a commonly known fact. This is a turning point for America nothing less: should it decide to give in to brainless insanity the democracy will be lost for a long time, if not ever. And this relates to all parts of the society, including pink suits with paddles. History doesn't forgive any of: naivete, helplessness, carelessness, absence of will and resolve to act in its turning moments. -
Hopeless, isn't it? Back in 1780 people did not have democracy; but at least they understood that first they have to install and/or defend it, then design and construct processes. Not the other way around, they understood that. Processes on paper do not mean, assure or even suggest a working democracy. Two plus centuries on, clueless like a blank sheet. Like never happened. Regression is the word.

Interesting, worth trying. It's like split schizophrenic mind, they are attached to the ideal Drump leading the glorious (lying) cult to great feats and victories but at the same time detest his real, factual and physical personification. Bringing up and insisting on the direct association can cause cognitive and emotional discomfort in this case.

Sorry, I had to ask: are you dumb, or just departed way beyond this reality? Do you understand that a procedure is an attribute of a functional democracy and not the other way around? The Congress works in a functional democracy or it can be a pet council of a dictator. Public elected dictator Mussolini in Italy for ten years, there are elections of some kind in China and Russia. There's no firm connection between that word "election" and a functional democracy. Everything is in the detail of democracy: the rule of law, active citizens, responsibility of politicians, leaders who understand the reality and have will to act when needed and as needed. Any chance?

In such cases of direct, existential threat to democracy, the resistance cannot be limited to formalities and procedures. Of course they need to be used, but this isn't all of it and not by far. It's the utmost stupidity, why being mild or else is it carelessness to assume that the procedure that has gotten you all the way here will somehow save you in the last moment, miraculously.

Russia's asset or not: find one difference
myata replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Just as stated right in the title. Still the coincidences are troubling and need to be looked at very carefully. Can we afford the innocence in such cases, when the fate of democracy itself can be at stake? -
This is the case - not the first one in the recent history, when life throws in an unexpected challenge but you only know how to work by the script from here to there and are completely dumbfounded and paralyzed. And this is exactly how German democracy failed to fascism leading up to WWII. Let's just wait for the next election.

Russia's asset or not: find one difference

Truth exists. Maga lies. Facts exist, they are objective, facts are not "speculation". -
Investigations in some possibly faraway future will answer the question with hard, documented evidence. But here's an observation: if Russia indeed happened to own a high level asset installing a total chaos, ruining as much as possible quickly and decisively would be their preferred and quite possibly, the only strategy with a chance of success. Take it fast and take all. Overwhelm and paralyze the resistance before it begins. Before democratic forces in the society had the chance to understand what's happening and unite to resist. The previous term showed them that the slow takeover wouldn't work: democracy is too messy too many processes, courts, takes too long, way too long and then the pueblo wants a change. So, a new radical idea: take it over from the top fast and decisively, the only course with a chance of success. And now: find one difference, between this obvious logic and the reality. See? Russian asset or not, it just looks the same, no difference. How do we interpret that fact? And the last point is on the so called "checks and balances": just like in Germany last century they are proving themselves dysfunctional and useless. Till the last moment, the formal political bunch will hang on to and scramble to the illusion that they can control something or anything. That something still depends on them and needs them when the rising dictator already plays in his sick mind how he will wipe his a$$ with their cries and whimpers remembering every word and each transgression. Nope: no chance of waking up, nobody is home to answer. And I don't mean only Republicans. A total, accomplished cave in and a collapse.

Anyone noticed that something is off with congressional public Democrats these days too? Is that how you defend freedom and democracy from raising tyranny, insanity and chaos? Definitely not. Not a chance. Look at them and all you'll get is that nothing much is happening. Getting cozy with a modern Hitler. Threats of a direct attack against former ally. Economic wars started and waged against former allies. But another election is coming in a couple of years and it will fix everything. Guaranteed, in 1936. Sad, pathetic and past regrettable. Stuck in their narrow tunnel view resisting and holding by all straws and crooks to ignore the reality. Ah. Isn't that exactly, almost identical to how it happened the last time? But what does the number of repetitions matter if there's no brain to remember and learn, and no spine and courage to stand? Two centuries old script, ink on rotting paper will do miracles? Go on. Simply pathetic.

Just look how the twisty boneless tongue twists it: he isn't blaming anybody: ostensibly but it's the guest who should apologize, not the host who invited him in his home then showed utmost and disgusting disrespect and absence of civility and courtesy. Why, what's the logic? Well it's past that, and any notion of decency and no shame. Watch on this specimen of moral and mental decomposition what letting your brain to reality pseudo-news propaganda could and will do to you. And you wouldn't even know. Those lessons and examples they weren't for nothing now playing out before everybody's eyes. I wouldn't even want to comment. The case can be beyond any hope of recovery.

Note an instant and effortless change of the subject, for the students of psychopathology due to obsessive authoritarian misinformation.
