Not to mention archers with those powerful cross bows which are as deadly and accurate as they get. I have used an air horn with a bear that got to near a camp ground because the assholes left bacon grease everywhere were panicking and I had to paddle across to the idiots, I prefer an air horn. Most bears leave with an air horn. Likewise bush wolves. The thing I am genuinely afraid of is a moose full flight headed to the lake chased by black flies. Nothing is gonna stop that and you get the phack out of the way. Mostly in the woods I don't eat much. I can survive on the berries and fish and plants and fruit and I can eat grasshoppers, frogs, slugs- they don't bug me to eat. I just won't eat snakes-too rubbery. I don't like rabbit or duck and the few wild turkeys or pheasants I have run into know I won't shoot them they just give me that guilty tree hugger look and leave. Then again I do not go out in hunting or mating season. I know better. I also know better than to stand between any mother and her cubs or kittens. To me people with guns in cities are a bad mix. I don't like people let alone people with guns. We are evil, destructive, arrogant sheeyats when we have weapons. These last few days in the US just reminds me how phacked up their society is when it comes to defining rights by owning a gun. In my world rights come from privileges and privileges come from understanding every choice we make impacts on all other life forms. Most people today are caught up in the immediate benefit to themselves of a decision and what material comfort or identity confirmation that decision brings them and stop at that. Its self centered narcissism. Calling everyone who shoots people mentally ill is too easy. Millions upon millions of mentally ill people never pick up a gun or hurt anyone. Simply slapping on mental illness to what they do or creating conspiracies is a way we try put a reason to something that has no reason.

AOC is not a Jew. She has constituents in her riding who are Jewish and she was at a Hanukah festivity when she suddenly remembered he was supposedly descended from Sephardic Jews in Spain. Oh bullshit. Anyone with Spanish ancestry could claim they were a Jew. How would anyone know if it was true or not. This is what I know about AOC. She invoked the holocaust and compared the detention centres of illegal immigrants trying to get into the US on the Mexican border akin to what Nazis did to Jews in WW2. She not only refused to scale it back but repeated it. Ask yourselfhow is it she never used the reference to describe what Assad did in Syria, what Turkey and Iran and Syria aredoing to Kurds, what Iran is doing to its own people, Sunni Muslims, Yazidi, Kurds, Bahaiis, on and on. How is it she only uses it to piss on the US and where the phack did she get off using it in that manner? Where are the gas chambers? She is a nasty and petulant and invoking the holocaust not once but repeatedly when asked to stop shows her true colours. She can kiss my Jewish keester. She is about as Jewish as Sydney Crosby.

Bernie's position on Saudi Arabia is spot on:
Rue replied to marcus's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Z I respect much fo what you say you know that. I hope you know I don't applaud Saudi Arabgi However Marcus has established himself on this board as a pro Iranian extremist so with due respect having read his past posts, he has one standard for Saudi Arabia and another for Iran. If Saudi Arabia was attacking Israel and not fighting Iran he would be the first supporting them. I take nothing he says with even an ounce of credibility. He believes Muslims should have as many Sharia law states as they want but no Jew should have a Jewish state. His take on Saudi Arabia is based on his pro Iranian beliefs. That is what I have read from him and that is why I see no need to respond to him rationally or otherwise. He showed his biases on this forum already. I am not about to be part of a two face diatribe on Saudi Arabia from someone who supports Iran which is just as problematic a regime. As for Saudi Arabia, Trudeau manhandled relations with it as he did India, the US and China. He has a track record of being a foreign relations arm pit with such nations.,He has no clue how to function on an international stage because he is a sheltered rich boy. Today's world is full of sob's. smiling while holding a gun and explosives and Justin has no clue how to deal with it. As for Maxime Bernierhe is an idiot. He has the iq of a stegasaurus. At this point he is playing Capt. Obvious and stating nothing new. He is what is called a populist contrarian. He simply states the opposite of what Trudeau says. At this point if anyone thinks that makes him a genius they need a colonic. -
Dougie I would buy you a beer and definitely want a guy like you in a patrol on my rear or in front cuz you is crazy serious but you are not the problem. People like youd o not worship weapons. Know a few like you. You are not my problem. Every day people with weapons are. They never learned to clean one, breath properly with one, even hold it right. They get off on the power of repeating rounds. I do not ever expect them to be trained properly or clean their weapons properly or even be sane. So my concern is for front line emergency people and especially police responding to calls with wack jobs with guns or domestic calls with angry spouses with guns or drunks with guns. I appreciate in rural areas all things considered the RCMP have over the years had relatively few incidents although its happened. If I will generalize for a second, most people in rural areas who have rifles have them out of necessity not recreation, i.e., they use them to get food to eat or protect themselves from rabid animals or animals with distemper or maybe a fisher or coyote or rat, coon, weasel, being a nuisance. My concern is people in cities who have never been brought up to understand rules of nature and conservation and/or have hand guns or rapid release weapons or short muzzle rifles of any kind. Me I never met a soldier I knew who worshipped guns. The cop friends I have don't worship them. I had to learn to use one and quite frankly preferred carrying a medic bag because my eyes are short sighted I never trusted using one with glasses ever and I am too high strung to breath properly. I am not sure what some people are fascinated by them although I got a Freudian theory or two on why. Me I don't see a problem with necessity rifles in rural areas or even target guns. I do not think much of recreational non necessity hunters but in all fairness some are properly trained by their clubs and take them seriously and I appreciate that. I just don't see the need for them unless you are a rural dweller or necessity hunter. As for cities, illegal hand guns are not for the most part a regulation problem but they get smuggled in ....but that does not mean they should be sold unless they are for target gun clubs and left at the clubs under lock and key. That's my opinion. I want to make it safe for emergency responders and police. I appreciate regulating hand guns has practical limitations but I agree with those who ask why do people need rapid fire arsenal. Ridiculous. They have no business with them. I am also firmly convinced as much as some do not like our gun control laws, I will take them any day over what goes on in the US with their repeat non stop shooting incidents the latest in El Paso.

Terrorist Iran kidnaps a British crew with its oil tanker
Rue replied to QuebecOverCanada's topic in The Rest of the World
No of course not. OPEC switched from trading I. US currency to Euros because of Iran and the US dollar did not become useless. It's value and use as is the case with the use any currency is based on complex macro and micro level market conditions, -

Could have fooled me although now that I think about it they all beat me arm wrestling and Paris did sort of smell like George Clooney's wife's who is also transsexual. Oy. Look everyone calm down. Leave Michael Harder alone. Seriously, yah its true its causing some practical issues in public facilities and yah we live now in a society that seems to be emphasizing the blurring of the distinction biologically between male and female gender. I mean you want to get paranoid about it-did we insist on using so much plastic knowing the plastic bottles had estrogen that would pollute the water we drink turning all us males into neuters and increasing breast cancer in women? Well? How far you want to go with whether Satan and/or the illuminati are doing this or whatever-I leave to you but Cher never had me fooled and neither did Jane Fonda.

Extreme pain is often a subjective complaint. Any system of health care will priorize entry based on objective criteria so that drug addicts or others abusing the system by lying or exaggerating their symptoms can't push ahead of others in an emergency clinic. As for any testing in any system there are bottlenecks. I get it can cause unfortunate delays but private systems have the same problems and the idea you can jump the line if you pay more is often a myth based on the notion some of us should be more entitled if we pay more. Medical services are most often administered based on an objective point system of imminent death or peril before non life threatening. If someone is having seizures they will be treated for the seizures which is the priority. Yes finding out underlying causes can take quite some time due to the limit of resources available. Please show me how the same bottle necks do not occur in any non public system because they do for the same reasons. Your antectdotal complaints are genuine examples of complaints in all medical treatment systems and inherent in human nature. That is to say no no one wants to wait and everyone feels entitled to immediate attention. Does the system need adjusting? Probably. Do people also need attitude adjustments, probably.

Well if anyone wants a description of what Canadian culture is, its this thread. We like to complain about what is wrong but NEVER have suggestions to make things right. All socialized or government run or private run insurance programs have problems. All. There is no such thing as a perfect system. First off Switzerland is a nation whose entire economy is predicated on living off of the interest of stolen money so as far as I am concerned comparing any government to Switzerland's i means what? Next, please do not tell me Switzerland or private insurance has better systems then Canada unless you can provide me actual evidence to that fact with specific examples. Of course our medical system has line ups and limitations no different that private systems or the bank of stolen money Switzerland, For example, -all systems have shortages of specialists and when they do have such a shortage, line ups are inevitable and if you look at the statistics lack of specialists aren't caused by not paying them enough its caused by the complexity and difficulty of these specialties and how only a few can do them because of the extra ordinary abilities it will require. In basic actuarial science it is knwon that the rate of occurrence of diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, create the line ups or demand for services in any system as we try predict the increase in rates and then budget for them ..i always playing catch up game. We also have an issue as to what kind of treatments should be approved. For example, in the UK when a man has prostate cancer, they now use lasers to cut the tumours out once they are large enough. In Canada we still use radiation. We have not moved to laser yet. So if you want laser or freezing of the tumour which then is pissed out of the body , you go to a private clinic and pay. So we do have private clinics already. You can go to private clinics for erectile dysfunction, hernia operations, laser eye surgery, cosmetic surgery. IWhat does mediocre mean? Do any of you know? How do you and how did you define mediocre? Sorry until I see hard stats and service issue areas, the complaints are too vague and often based on subjective impressions. I went through three ear operations and on the first I had first stage meningitis. I was never left to wait but I can say this. The nurses favoured me and treated me better because I have Sometimes what ails our system is not all the things you think, but lack of human kindness, compassion, caring. A caring compassionate employee of a hospital in any capacity can make anything manageable. I say that because after my experiences where I could have died, I decided to join a volunteer patient relations panel and still am on it, and I have seen first hand,. if someone is waiting for a test, they are scared. If we can hold there hand and reassure them, silly as that sounds, it can make the wait time manageable. That is of course different than a wait time that is caused by a lack of specialist. One is manageable and inevitable as there is a bottleneck as you line up for your MRI, cat can, radiation treatments, operation. The other where no specialist exists is sad because yes some die as a result. So don't get me wrong our system has limits but please differentiate between lack of specialists which is not a reflection of the system and poor budget management which may be. As for bottleneck line ups they are impossible to avoid. Its the nature of mass medical service. Its easy being Canadian and complaining but offer specific solutions. There are people working on the problems. Its a catch up game and they are doing their best. Taxme please blame immigrants . It is true we have a lot of people come to Canada to get our "mediocre" medical care under false pretenses because of the loopholes and how remaining in their country is a death sentence but in our "mediocre" system they live. Excuse me I have traveled and volunteered in clinics overseas. I will take our mediocre system any day,. The no.1 killer of people by the way is not aids, cancer, heart disease, its diarrhea. Here are some solutions: 1.facilitating patient exchange between provinces 2. more coupling of hospitals where specialties are not duplicated in both hospitals 3.more active screening of persons entering emergency rooms and in fact refusing entry and re-routing to 24 hour clinics 4.more active use of volunteers, medical students 5.more emphasis on education to prevent or manage illnesses in early stages 6.development of more nurse practitioners 7.creating two streams of ambulance service, on critical incident with paramedics, the other non critical with non paramedics 8.introduction of assisted death protocol for final stage illnesses as per state of Washington syetm 9.investigation of new approaches to incorporate private and public funding of medical services 10. access and use of medical devices and services on a 24 hour basis (as is being done now with mri's) 11.use of psychology, dentistry, physiotherapy and other adjunct medical services under OHIP tp enable faster release from hosptals.

Steeling from Wildlife and killing them off
Rue replied to cougar's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Use of existing technology to warn of wildlife on the road in the dark. Safer driving. Not feeding wildlife at the side of roads. Watching migration routes and building safer roads with more signs. More recycling and use of glass instead of plastic and biodegradable materials. Miracles don' t require Jesus just your common sense. -

4 first round draft picks for Marner is what the Islanders are looking at for any contract I believe over 10.5 mil and the rumour is he wants 12 mil right so let Lou talk. My problem with Marner is he has not played long enough to justify 12 million let alone 10 million per year but is using Mathews and Nylander as his reference points saying he is better than those 2 and Dubas had to know when he signed Nylander Mariner would do that. The Leafs are playing hard ball not just on Marner but for Mathews, and everyone else on the roster except Taveres and Nylander at this point. This is the tip of the iceberg and all teams face it. You can only pay so much out so if you concentrate it on a few you have a lot who do without. Its that simple. It means most teams can't carry more than 2 superstars and end up like Chicago or Detroit. Building by the minor leagues Is another myth. Few teams today can do that. The odds are against you developing sufficient players these days with so many teams drafting and genuine talents scattered. The way today to win a cup is to have a couple of minor leaguers, a couple of superstars and a bunch of overpriced free agents. Its not pretty anymore but its caused the parity Bettman wants to be able to assure the Cup stays in as many different American cities as is possible to sell the game. Hockey will never in the US generate the revenue of football , basket-ball or base-ball and so it will always be 4th fiddle and even soccer in some cities like Seattle is as popular as hockey. So get used to it. Something will give. If Marner sits out the year like Nylander did it spreads poison and distraction and they won't do that again. My bet is Dubas will have no choice but to pull a trade and get better than 4 draft choices. There are a lot of teams that could send back 2 first rounders, second rounders and a promising centre and dman, hell if I was Winnipeg and Toronto and I am anticipating problems with you know who signing in Winnipeg is there a possible fit there? All kidding aside, if I wanted to win a cup this year and I was Dubas why not send Marner to Montreal for Price, Domi and one of their promising centres. Its not as dumb as it sounds for either team. Then again There are a lot of teams who have fits with Toronto for a mix of here and now stars and prospects for him. He's not untouchable. Me personally I think he needs another year to scout him properly in terms of projected role. The thing is he is a right winger who could play centre but he is no Tavares. He will never score a lot. He is more of a Dave Keon-Doug Gilmour kind of centre which aint bad but he is not a Gretzky, Lemieux, Tavares, McDavid, Crosby kind of centre.

TedX; Loving children sexually is natural
Rue replied to QuebecOverCanada's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Quebec on one level of course pedophilia is an evil. There are many levels of evil if we use that word as a descriptor for depraved behaviour. Its particularly evil in the sense it exploits vulnerability and robs innocence.I get that I think we all do and agree with you on that. Of course. I used to put such people away and had to interview and cross examine them and saw many walk back on to the streets. It does a number on you knowing that byut nothing compared to what it does to victims or the loved ones of victims. That said, I think here is the point. What we now know about pedophiles is there is no "cure". If you actually castrate them, we have examples of castrated pedophiles still with a drive of some sort who have got their hands on testosterone to get erections. What we do know is a particular area of the brain lights up with pedophiles that does not light up with others. The only thing that seems to contain pedophilia is placing a very tiny electric transmitter in the brain that zaps this sight when it lights up. Its like zapping a dog that bites or barks. It causes pain at the same time as arousal over-riding the arousal but it will never stop the arousal. As well pedophiles have a pathology where they will argue what they do is normal and does not harm children and many believe this. Most pedophiles are attracted to children because they lack sexual characteristics and can be controlled. Those are the 2 basic inherent features they are feeding on. Pedophiles are predators by nature. They stalk. They look for opportunity and access and they groom their targets and the parents of the targets. They often place themselves in positions where they can have access to children. They should not be confused with hebephiles who are adults attracted to early adolescent children who begin to have sexual characteristics but still remain pretty much androgynous in feature, i.e., no pronounced sexual features, i.e., hair, large breasts, hip shape difference. Both philes are best described as overwhelming urges but unlike say a heroin addict who will get sick if they go cold turkey and then can be given a medication to control opiate urges, you can't do that. Its like you can give a certain medication to an alcoholic to make them vomit if they drink but you can't stop the craving. With a pedeophole or hebephile all a medication can do is dull the arousal period or delay it but can't stop it. Pedophiles or hebephiles that tell you they control themselves are liars and they deny no different than gamblers or alcoholics or drug addicts deny. They do not have control ever and in fact can't trust themselves which is why some choose suicide knowing they can't control their constant urges. That said romanticizing a pehophile or hebephile as victims in need of your compassion is never the point. There is nothing to pity or feel bad about and compassion or any other emotion is a waste of energy. Its important to remain clinically detached from this illness. Using moral judgements to define it will not properly contain such people. The person in charge of such people must feel nothing-any feeling could interfere with properly treating such people. Anger is the worst thing that can happen to a person in charge of such people. It can cloud judgement needed. They key with pedophiles and hebephiles is to keep them away from children and teens and in cities and rural areas as well that may not be possible and because of our Charter of Rights permanently isolating such people to colonies or places without children or placing electric implants in their heads is not possible. However I am of the believe such people must be given electronic monitoring devices and placed in centres where they must channel their sex urges into physical work and where they are required to also engage in taking medication and when they come out be required to permanently wear a monitoring device and take medication or go back into these centres and they must work to pay off the expenses of these centres. I do not think the Charter should be used to provide their rights once they are convicted. I believe at that point, their rights subordinate to the greater rights of the victims they hurt and the need to protect all of society from them when applying the charter. I do not advocate killing or torture but I do advocate mandatory/compulsory work and medication programs or total forfeiture of any other rights or release. I also believe after release, permanent tracking or back to the centres. I would advocate tracking devices that can not be cut out or off. Some pedophiles have taken a knife and cut though their arms to remove voluntary implants placed in them. Other routinely cut off electric foot devices. -

I agree with you up to a point. Nothing good comes when humans encroach on any form of life including their own species but the creation of highways, commerce, transportation, pollution, etc., We have always as humans mistaken ourselves as being superior to and not obliged to follow the rules of the earth as you are aware. That is as you also know a spiritual disease. Trying to tell people entrenched in a world of material values that can be pointless because they probably do not want to feel or breath what you do. That bear is a trigger for me of many obscenities. Just the picture. I think if I smelled the blood it would be worse. God damn it but all we can do is perform our miracles in the smallest and quietest of ways when adjusting our lifestyle. Nothing ever comes when you expect it but change comes. Its happening as we speak its just there are so many negative distractions you can't see it. I know you saw that picture of the husband and wife kissing behind a dead lion. Its what unfortunately many of us are-oblivious to the miracle of independent life. Scapegoating immediately grants for such issues makes no sense. All humans are responsible, some more than others depending on our lifestyles. -

Oh come on guys, Argus did not turn the term Caucasian from its geographic term to the white skinned reference as to how it was used and no pretending Pakistanis and Indians are Caucasian because of the Caucasian mountains is purile. Caucasian, negroid and mongoloid as we are all aware divided the world into 3 subjective constructs, white, black-brown and yellow. Argus was not alive when that was done. We are all aware of how the term Caucasian is used today in this thread. As for Marcus his playing that Pakistani or Indian only means related to a certain mountain region is as horse crap as the thread itself. Bottom line is what you look like, who you poke, your religion, your breast or penis size, your nose shape, your hair texture, your skin tone is only an issue for those with unresolved issues about their own identities. That said, who me tolerant? Bah. Canada is currently run by a bunch of castrated identity confused specimens prancing about pretending to be male and they sure as hell aint female either. No one can tell me Bill Morneau or Justin Trudeau are men or women. They hate both genders equally and walk like they got serious hemmeroids. As for the NDP leader he's campaigning now with a large enough to see knife slung around him to make sure everyone knows he's a Siehk not to mention his $2,500 Brooks brothers suit and $250 custom made and initialed shirt we all know he is a socialist. As for Mr. Rogers of the Conservative Party, the only thing missing is a wafer, a candle and some pervert ushering him into a dark corner after singing practice. There have I missed anyone? Oh yah the dummy from Quebec who left his national security confidential papers for his motor cycle girlfriend to read. There's a genius. No wonder syphilis is making a comeback. The only thing wrong with this nation is its obsession with being politically correct to the opposite extreme of Donald Trump's flatulence on the other extreme side. -

Quebecover being a former Montrealer Jewish Anglo you know what that meant. Just out of proper manners I speak French and grew up bilingual although it was possible I never had to speak French. You know the two solitudes. To me it was a matter of manners nothing else to speak French. I was a minority growing up in Montreal and had my run ins with both Anglo and Franco bigots. Just life. No one forced me to speak French. I wanted to. I grew up with the Habs. I know it had a meaning to Quebecois as a symbol of them being the best at something in a world where they were put down by the English and as a Jew I got that need to show people you were as good as them, but no Quebecois ever said to me this was only a French team- they loved their non French players equally and we left our politics out of the Forum. To me Quebec's true cultural identity is the Habs and that vision of the world- which is now multi-cultural but one that will always have a special unique reference or nexus or connection to support and acknowledge the collective French identity in Quebec if its taken out, the team can not exist and this is something many non Habs fans don't get. I argue the same identity with taking Quebec out of Canada.
-
Hang on Y....and I admit I am a Habs fan so I have a bias. but... About Drouin: This guy is asked to be a defensive player in Montreal. On any other tea he could put up 30 goals easy. He is under-rated. Watch him play. He is a two way player now and bought into a defence first system because he is unselfish. If he was on a team that let him play one way like Vegas, Phoenix, Nashville he could score the lights out. I think he is an excellent leader. As for Domi I was skeptical on the trade then fell in love with his play last year except for one Kadri moment where he took a dirty shot and looked like Claude Lemieux. He has a penchant for the odd dirty hit like his Dad and that did not go down well in Montreal where you do not do that. The Habs coach is no different than Babcock. They were two peas in the pod as to their views on two way hockey and dirty shots. In fact identical which is why you will not see Gardiner in Montreal and why Marner would fit in very well but not Nylander. Drouin actually in Toronto would be a excellent partner for Tavares but the Leafs and Habs are mot a match. Same division same weaknesses and strengths. Drouin is loyal to the Habs and vice versa. The Habs will never trade Price, Drouin or Weber and I doubt at this point they would trade Gallagher who is to Montreal what Wendel Clark was to the Leafs although Clark was traded for Sudin so never say never. Poheling I hope can play 4th line this year. I appreciate his first game up was the last game of the year when he got his hat trick but he played solid 2 way hockey in college hockey so we shall see. I think Drouin is better than any winger in Flo. In fact I take Drouin over Nylander and Drouin is to the Habs what Marner is to the Leafs. He makes a lot of passes and defensive cover plays now cramping his offence. He is a team player. He is their defacto leader. He and Gallagher are the two leaders and of course Weber and Price. They have 4 solid leaders. The Leafs only need one, Tavares and his game does all the talking. He's their man. The Habs weakness is goal scoring and fast moving dmen. They got some slow foots back on the b line....so their break out game and power play is held back. God bless Petry and Weber and they asked Petry to carry a lot, but these are older guys now. They need help on the b line. We have a bonafide start in the making in Mete, but then it becomes cement heads. So we shall see if anyone can pick it up on the blue line. I think Domi had a career year and so did Tartar so whether they repeat we shall see. Hudon has disappointed everyone and this is his make or break year. On paper he sould be similar to Pacioretti in style but he's been invisible. Poehling has overachieved every year at centre. He has no one particular skill but he just seems to not give up. I have high hopes for him at centre and Special K the Finn can only get better so I think with those two and Domi we have centres now for 3 lines and we have nop shortage of at least 4 guys to play 4th line centre or wingers. What we need is some goal scorers and maybe a 4th dman. The Leafs I say leave alone. You made your moves. Now play hard.
-
Well I think you are right for all the reasons you said. I doubt he would trade Nylander. I am just jawing for fun on this thread. I think by the way Ceci is a head case but a good gamble. Its beyond me how a guy like him played so bad. I watched him. Makes no sense. He is good movement laterally and soft hands. I don't get his head case effort in Ottawa. I hear Marner wants like 12 million. und-dog Kelly, John Ferguson, Stan Jonathan, Bobby Clark. I will get back to all time players lists later. You guys wanna talk here and now no prob.
