  1. With due respect Cannuck we also have to remember the constitution was created to allow Quebec to be distinct. It was deliberate so some of this built in dymanic or tension is deliberate and meant to happen. The belief was the two identities through dynamic tension (on-going tension) would like say labour negotiations between management and unions create a synthesis of the two opposites creating an ever changing fresh identity. as opposed to two stagnated identities not feeling any need to change. So for sure we have pandering with Quebec but in fairness there is regional pandering to the Atlantic provinces and at certain times the West and Ontario although not lately. To be honest its BC that gets the real tale end so BC created an economy based on Chinese and Indian immigration investment. Alberta being so dependent on oil sands revenue was and is screwed by Quebec and BC as much as it is the feds. Sask and Manitoba with due respect are small agrarian economies and more screwed by world market conditions on potash, wheat, barley, rapeseed. Rapeseed was our no.1 export and Trudeau phacked that up good with China the no. 1 importer. Tar sands oil is dependent on world market prices as well and its the US expanding its extraction of oil in the US that has the most major effect. Alberta as well needs to diversify its economy. It got too damned dependent on tar sands revenue and all your eggss in one basket approaches are a weakness of both fed and prov government policies.
  2. Don't. Heis a dishonest ego maniac.. This man from the get go only was concerned with his own ego. He endangered Canadian security phacking around with a motorcycle gang whore. He is an egoist and airhead The people in the insurance company he worked for laughed at him. He's a bafoon. He is as shallow and stupid as Trudeau. His entire career now in politics is based on petulance. His stance now is simply to say the opposite of Tweedledee, Twiddledum and the joke of an NDP leader. His only hope is to get some seats in Quebec back from the NDP which is quite possible but in the rest of Canada, he's like Jagmeer Singh,he's a nobody. We are down to two Justin and Mr. Dimples. I am not happy with the invisibility of the Tories. If they want to take back some middle ground or what we call Blue Liberals or Red Tories like me, he sure as hell aint doing the job. As for Trudeau they muzzled the idiot but he soon has to go on the road and defend Lavalin, his China-Saudi Arabia-USA disputes, his deliberate dismantling of Immigration law, the deficit, his fiasco with Jody. I think the Conservatives feel they should just remain invisible and let him self destruct. No. They should be presenting strong alternatives and so far their message has been very milktoast.
  3. No. Not from what I can see at this point. If he is elected then he might do something but certainly during the election he seems to be deliberately avoiding the immigration issue for fear of alienating ethnic votes which is an insult to this ethnic anyways. Ethnics.. Our damn system panders now to what we think is this need to kiss up too ethnics. Please do not kiss my buttox anyone. Just treat me as you would any Canadian,. Stop sending out pandering messages. They are patronizing and an insult to my ethnic buttox.
  4. You ask me, fascism is the extreme of liberalism and anarchy the extreme of conservatism ... if we use those two terms fascist and conservative in their true Bentham and Burke definitional references. Communism, socialism.... unless you have a n agrarian state or choose to live in a cult or closed of society like Mennonites. its not real now is it. Every alleged socialist is really a liberal in the sense they want government control not grass roots cooperatives operating without need of government. Trudeau is just a spoiled rich boy. He is too stupif to have an actual ideology of any kin other than that he feels entitled and acts like some divine Prince. China is a totalitarian regime. Its a centralized government controlled web to keep 2 billion from killing each other.
  5. You waste your energy. C'est terminal ou fait accompli avec Mr. Bean aka Taxme. Tabernackle. Oy gevalt. Parlez Yiddish avec Mr. Bean
  6. Point taken. I am sorry your well stated thread became an excuse for Taxme to do his usual bigoted rantings. Your point is of course dead on. I get you.
  7. This is an issue Canadians clearly have no interest in. The fact its gone on this long speaks to that and so does the fact that Trudeau is probably getting re-elected. When was the last time anyone saw Andrew Scheer. Can you believe we are weeks from an election and not a damn peep in the press about the chaos.
  8. Who are those employees? By the way if a security firm hires ex soldiers to give them jobs which I believe was the purpose of Comm good for them. Please tell me who gets sixty bucks an hour.
  9. Slow down,. Even if they did the country on the other end won't let them off the plane. That is part of the problem.
  10. Good luck but sorry the law on this gives you no civil remedies.
  11. I also concede to you the detention centres have serious issues. I just do not think calling them concentration camps is accurate and you respectfully debated that with me and I thank you.Boges. Also I got into a debate with you as to comparing the US government or border service in a way that makes them Nazis. No prob. We debated. Done. Besides we both absolutely agree the detention centres are over-crowded, there are serious issues as how to manage the influx. Also you know I do not agree with separating children from their parents. I just think all countries are faced with the same problems as the US and some of us are quick to criticize the US and call them names with an issue all countries face. Our detention centres in Canada have identical issues. Let's be fair to the border officers. None of them are gassing anyone or sending them for gas or experiments. That all said, you and I do not differ on this. I only meant to debate you real good. You know I respect you. Now as for the gun shootings in the US ...gun crimes always go up in hot weather. That is an interesting fact. People are more likely to be outside longer hours. The mass shootings now look like copy cat angry young men. Most mass shooters are white males in the US. Most gang killings in the US are by blacks so people generalize from both negative things about white and black males. Interestingly the no.1 reason police are killed by guns is in response to domestic disputes, then traffic stops. The US has debated since forever about better screening procedures for gun licenses, types of guns sold, whether they should be high repetition, short or long muzzle, etc. Each state has its own laws. Then there are federal laws. I have an open bias in favour of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms in the US. I agree with Yz its naïve to always trust government authority on many issues but when it comes to weapons I follow what the ATF says about what it thinks the problem with guns are in the US or the police associations or councils of police chiefs because to me they are the experts. I suggest anyone start with https://www.atf.gov/firearms on any discussion about fire arms in the US. As for the correlation between immigration and the gun shootings I do think Trump's rhetoric has served to incite anger but to blame it all on him is going too far because any extremist shooting people makes an individual choice and his responsibility begins and ends with that decision.
  12. You always write very well. Your obvious awareness of Quebec politics I enjoy. I appreciate your contributions. I may not always agree with them but I appreciate your take. It sounds always a bit more right wing then its intended to be. I think your above comments could be construed as a bit alarmist and right wing as well but I get your point and I do not think they are-I think you are in my humble opinion accurate.. I will say this. Quebec as you are most aware genuinely is unique politically. That said conventional separatism which dominated Quebec politics now in a global world of shrinking borders and mass migration of populations of poor moving towards the rich has created a new sense of insecurity but its an insecurity shared by many first world populations not just Quebecois and so we see a morphing of ideologies that are left and right mixing into one another based on fear of cultural assimilation by incoming economic migrants all over the lst world. It creates an ideology where extreme right and left views mix and I think what you are seeing in Quebec is a mix of this kind of ideology that is extreme left and right at the same time making things confusing as to whose extremist views get most prominence. Take for example that vasectomy nonsense- could a lot of that is based on wanting to control specific groups seen to be having more children than other groups? Quebecois have not been reproducing as you know if you look at the demographic stats. You think in that dialogue about vasectomies there might be a fear that Muslim migrants are coming to Quebec with large families that will outnumber Purelaines? That's a fear in many countries of Europe. So is that leftist ideology or right wing ideology about threats to racial or ethnic purity? What exactly is it? So I get your point but call me naïve I think Quebecers always seem in the end to deal with their extremism. Say what you want Levesque, Lesage, Daniel Johnson Jr., Charest, Bourassa, Bouchard, was their really a difference in what they did other than their script with how to deal with Ottawa which even then was not that different? Am I wrong to see they all pretty much were middle of the roaders trying to balance economy with social services and in all the ups and downs Quebec still comes back tot he same kind of leader?
  13. In theory I agree but in reality how do we assure that? It seems in every political system a power clique evolves around the leader, i.e., President or Prime Minister turning everyone outside that clique into a useless hanger on. Its interesting in that BOTH Harper and Trudeau have the same style of a very tight clique running everything. Interestingly Justin's father delegated a lot of power to trusted Ministers, i.e., Donald MacDonald, Marc Lalonde, Gerard Pelletier, Jean Marc Pepin, and Herb Gray. Mulroney apparently only trusted Mike Wilson. We all no Harper ran a tight ship with no Ministers really talking to the press and now with Trudeau with the exception of his Foreign Minister and Ralph Goodale, everyone else is under lock and key. Bill Morneau his boyfriend after doing yoga and inserting his foot repeatedly up his derrier and out his mouth you never see on his own anymore. Tight cliques of unelected behind the scenes manipulators is a fact of politics. Think about it. Even with all these behind the scenes puppet masters Trudeau still has come across like a bafoon. Its easier when you have someone with some form of intelligence which whether we like it or not Diefenbaker, Pearson, Mulroney, Harper even Chretiens had. Trudeau could not possibly be a PM without handlers pushing and prodding every move. He has an i.q. of 6.
  14. Sorry to hear that but may I be polite and direct. You may not know but I practiced law for many years... I now am just a college/university professor and do it pro bono and I did practice immigration law (global trade) a bit (at a certain level a bit different than the area you talk about) but teach immigration law among other subjects so I only say that to reassure you I do understand what you said but there is nothing you can do. There is always a tariff or import tax on anything coming in saying its a gift won't work. Each day literally millions of mailed items come in to Canada and the CBSA sifts through them no.1 looking for illegal drugs, food, weapons, child porno as their top priorities but then items like you said. The CBSA is not your issue, the regulations and laws they enforce are. That tax or tariff on incoming goods is intended to encourage you to buy in Canada not to mention its a tax and you know why governments tax. So sorry its the law. You will have to change the law. You can in theory go down to a Customs excise office and file an appeal but its a waste of time. Another thing and its a good general rule. Whenever dealing with CBSA they have a lot of discretionary power given the grey area of what they enforce. They sometimes will look the other way at port of entries when you break minor rules. They do tend to look the other way with people shopping in Buffalo but they do not have to. They technically can send anyone to the side and tax them on anything they buy. We have a lot of import regulations people are unaware of and large businesses use import and export brokers to deal with all the paper work which can hold up or screw up important transactions and then on a higher level we have a lot of treaties and trade agreements setting out with certain countries what is taxed and at what amount. There is no such thing is free trade. For that to happen countries would have to have the exact same state of economic market conditions and currency-what we have are lower tariffs on some countries then others. All that shit said I am sorry but not much you can do but keep in mind anything coming from outside Canada by mail is intercepted by CBSA who may or may not intercept your mail and look for possible regulatory infractions. I always tell consumers please don't use ebay or kijiji or any such source unless you physically go and look first at the item you buy. You take a big chance with any mail order that its not a box with a rock in it not to mention giving away a credit card anytime on your internet even to buy a pizza is dangerous. By the way I could tell you horror stories about Amazon and them not refunding money or scams where you get called by people posing as CBSA or Immigration or Revenue Canada officials. It aint worth the problems. Buy in Canada. Just look around. If you have to order through a respectable retail store and they can tell you the exact fees. Welcome to the world of regulation Cougar.
  15. Another rhetorical allegation. How does he do this? Explain how he does this. Explain the detention policies he ordered to make the centres more hellish. You are full of rhetoric but make no specific verified statements as to actual problems in the detention centres. You just assume they are all concentration camps because you read it somewhere and you agree with that opinion. Where are your actual facts proving mass extermination and gassings? For those of us with more measured dialogue who do not presume any detention centre is perfect there is information such as this: https://www.globaldetentionproject.org/countries/americas/united-states http://theconversation.com/how-immigration-detention-compares-around-the-world-76067 There are absolutely no shortage of articles saying US detention centres are cruel, inhumane, stressful, serve bad food. Yes. Does anyone know any prison or detention centre where its wonderful and there are no complaints? Tell me what standard is it that Boges and others want? 1-no detention at all, just let people come and cross the border 2-place illegals in Holiday Inns 3-place illegals in homes with guilt ridden liberals 4-all of the above. Look its easy to say what is wrong, so now what? Where does the shrill guilt ridden rhetoric end and specific suggestions as to what is a better solution begin? Obama and Clinton had no alternatives. Why is it suddenly only Trump to blame? Sure he is ignorant. Sure he is insensitive. Sure he is a bigot but he did not create the centres nor has he created the economic conditions in South America or would everyone like to blame him for that. Good God its convenient to just blame it on Trump. The fact the man is a sphincter muscle does not mean all the world's problems are caused by him. Of course detention centres are overcrowded. There are literally hundreds of thousands trying to get through daily like moths to flames thinking the US will provide them a specific standard of living. The world has shrunk and the distance between the world's first and 3rd and fourth world countries no longer exists. Now even the poorest can be financed by smugglers through organized crime syndicates to come to the first world to be exploited. Leftists would have us all believe we can take in the shift of human population with no limitation, rules or problems. That is not the real world. In the real world a boat with 10 seats can not allow 50 passengers or it sinks. We have leftists screaming let them on let them on stop talking about capacity, then when the boat sinks they complain yet again.
  16. In regards to China's place in the world in terms of food production and export, it is the world's no. 1 producer simply because of the amount of mouths it feeds. I stated it is no.2 in food production to the world and might soon replace the US. If burning continues in California at the rate it has this will be a fact as California has traditionally been the no.1 food source for the world but has been severely damaged by fires. That said I am willing to accept China is the no.4 world food exporter at this time behind Germany and the UK based on the info below but would caution-certain food made in China if relabelled in the US, Germany, UK, Canada, is then allowed to be defined as American, German, British, etc., which distorts the numbers and is not adequately reflected in calling it the no.4 producer. That however is not the issue I was addressing but I answered it for Boges. https://agfundernews.com/china-will-produce-4-of-top-10-global-food-companies-by-2027-says-leading-food-investor.html http://www.fao.org/china/fao-in-china/china-at-a-glance/en/ http://www.fao.org/china/fao-in-china/china-at-a-glance/en/ The issue is whether detention centres on the US Mexican borders should be equated to Nazi concentration camps used in WW2. I stated this was irresponsible and state it is as irresponsible as Trump calling all Latinos drug pushers or thieves. It is extremist rhetoric. Here is the trendy leftist rhetoric that justifies calling detention centres concentration camps and using the reference Boges did about Auschwitz being trademarked: https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/these-detention-centers-arent-concentration-camps-because-technically-auschwitz-is-trademarked I am well aware of it. First we argue there were concentration camps before WW2. Of course there were. Then we have those who liken the detention camps (internment camps) of Japanese, Italians and Germans in Canada in WW2 as being concentration camps. Then we have those who equate how Canada treated and treats our aboriginals as no different than Nazis and how Israel treats Palestinians as being no different than the Nazis and in all these cases equating what leftists see as injustice and camps as no different than what happened in the camps during the holocaust. I argue this does actual disservice to the actual state of affairs in detention centres, lumps them all into one simplistic category and in so doing trivializes the differences and the specific differences in camps used to exterminate or forcefully work people to death. No one but no one in detention centres is being gassed, forced to work until they die, lined up and shot and thrown in lime pits, being starved to death, being experimented on and so to equate their treatment to the holocaust is bullshit.
  17. If you need me to cite China is the world's no.2 food producer go look it up yourself. Get down off that privileged serve me throne. I am no step n fetch it for you. Its a fact and if you claim you are not aware of it go find it out. Next practice what you preach. The simplistic notion you spell out that the economic collapse in Latin America causing the mass migration of Latinos is simply caused by drug cartels is simplistic and your calling Trump or the Americans out as racists because they have to have an immigration policy is bullshit. Trump yes has engaged in hateful racist rhetoric. Yes he attracts voters on purpose with those views. That does not make all Americans or anyone who believes countries have the right to control illegal migration Nazis and the US Border Service are not Nazis. They in fact do not exterminate or torture anyone. How about you find out what their standards are, who they account to, and provide examples of the mass torture and executions you accuse them of....
  18. Nonsense. No Jew let alone this one coopted the word Concentration Camp to mean Auschwitz.. It is used for any prison camp where people are or were exterminated or worked to death en masse because of their ethnicity or political beliefs. No one coopted the word. You on the other hand called the Americans and Trump Nazis. You raised the holocaust treatment issue by equating them with Nazis. That is irresponsible. No one is being exterminated because of their perceived identity flowing from race, religion, ethnicity, political beliefs. If you want to use gay to mean happy you think any gay person gives a flying phack? Equate what is going on at the Mexican border to treatment of gays, you probably will however have people asking you to clarify your analogy. You are being intellectually lazy because you see something you don't like but have no alternative for it. Its called economic migrants and in fact they trigger you not me to use the word Nazi. Economic migrants are a fact of global economics. More and more people who live as they do in a large economic structure than enables you to live the way you do, make you feel guilty so you think if you blurt out the word Nazi suddenly its ok? That's the solution, Trump is a Nazi? Anyone who has a responsibility for the movement of people across nations then is a Nazi? You think people should just come and go as they feel? Explain please. Tell me why having immigration policies to manage the movement of legals and illegals between nations is automatically Nazism.
  19. I hold you responsible for irresponsible rhetoric. You trivialize not just the holocaust but all genocides comparing what is going on at the US border with Mexico to Nazi genocide which is what you have done. No one is being mass exterminated because of their ethnicity and you are well aware of that. You are just too intellectually lazy to discuss the issue in detail. Its far easier to use shrill terms. The laziest tactic there is...in a discussion is to call someone a Nazi. Its designed to prevent discussion. Nazis my ass. Go on what would you propose is the solution. Can you discuss the issue other than to call out Nazi? Please. No one is stopping you. Suggest the measures you would use instead. Would you like the US to simply allow anyone who wants to come in to come in? If that is your position have the balls to say so.
  20. Trump did not create the migration issue. It started long before he was born. The fact us Latinons from South, Central Anmerica and Mexico for many years were used as cheap illegal labour to puck tobacco, lettuce, vegetables, fruit. cotton, work making clothes or in factories for less than mnimum wage seasonally. The US economy grew rich on it. Then the world markets shifted and clothing and textiles moved to even cheaper labour in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, China. A lot of California agricultural production is burned away and China is slowly replacing the US and California as the no.1 vegetable and fruit exporter. So the US now has no jobs for Latinos. That is all this is. Certainly Americans caught up in Trump's rhetoric have not a clue that the jobs these Latinos held were jobs no Americans wanted and now are not needed. So now they serve as a convenient scapegoat to piss on to get TRump relected because his message is based on hate and division and Americans love it, they embrace it. They love the rhetoric of us against them, and spectres being raised as to dirty job stealing terrorist immigrants. All that said, the issue of what to do with poor, unemployed labourers with no skills, trying to get to the US because of failed social nets in their own Latin nations is not addressed by calling Trump a Nazi. It may make some armchair Liberals feel less guilty about themselves and their privileged lives but it won't change a damn thing. Movements of unemployed migrants are happening world wide spurred by weather changes, a transfer from manual to technological labour requiring more specialized education and lack of water. Those issues are exasperated by civil wars and governments but will Boges talk about the nations where these migrants come from and where their nations have failed? Hell no. That would require some effort. Trotting out Trump is a Nazi is far easier.
  21. Your response is illogical. What gassing and mass extermination is going on in the detention centres. Who is being mass exterminated? You want tp keep going? Your shrill extremism was stupid when it was said by democrats like AOC and now you. Stupid. Irresponsible. If you have a legitimate issue about how to control the flow of illegal migration state it. Explain what you would do. Calling people Nazis is lazy bullshit.
  22. The fact he refers to them as concentration camps and engages in the use of holocaust reference speaks for itself. He's part of a generation born into a privileged lifestyle and has no idea at what price those privileges came from and what products he buys as we speak built by the very cheap labour that was exploited and he thinks he feels guilty for. I have no time of day for sheltered elitist leftist rhetoric on this issue. You are more patient. You know I find Trump to be an ignoramus. I believe he has lowered the standard of Potus as low as it gets with his gutter vocabulary and rhetoric and I find him to be a deplorable idiot. That said, issues like sovereignty and controlling the movement of migrants should not be made a partisan issue. Obama in fact built the wall not Trump and Obama placed as many people in detention centres as Trump. Its beyond the scope or power of any President. Illegal movement into the US is what it is an issue that needs to be controlled. Of course if you live a sheltered life and homeless migrants don't move next door to you and are not your problem and far away, its easy to call others Nazis. What are Boges solutions. You think he has any? Hah.
  23. It is absolutely bullshit to compare detention camps at the border to Nazi concentration camps. You do this because you show absolute ignorance as to what concentration camps are and in so doing trivialize the holocaust. No one is being gassed. No one is being tortured. You want to use trendy leftiost shrill rhetoric really? You think it makes you any less extreme than Trump?
  24. This is a spambot. It is not written by an individual. It snuck through I will notify moderator.
  25. Dougie cutting is like circumcision. So one should be circumspect about cuts. Too much and it causes unintended negative consequences. Too little and it defeats the purpose. I would like to think my purpose in life was shaped by the right cuts. Then again as a Jewish person my analogy has gone as far as it can go other than to say make sure what you cut is not necessary for performance. Too many cuts and you end up with non productive entities. Let's just say there is a range with Justin Trudeau on one side, and Shaq O'Neil on the other.
