Breaking - Tragedy: A car crash took place outside a migrant shelter in the border city, and police reportedly think it may have been intentional. Unclear if the suspect is: a fellow migrant / or someone that targeted them with domestic radical ties / or a lunatic / or just an accident. This follows yesterday's mall gun attack that claimed the lives of 9 people: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/06/us/allen-mall-texas-shooting.html The debate on guns continues online. Now, in my view, the theories over this story will make it even uglier. One can read the comments on outside news websites to get a picture. Both suspects have not been identified just yet unless I am not up to date. It is a tragedy for the State.

A shocking story of the day: Five people, including an 8-year-old child and a 15-year-old girl, were killed in the latest violence, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, Texas. https://news.yahoo.com/complaint-over-gun-noise-turned-213441961.html He allegedly opened fire on his neighbors after they asked him to stop shooting rounds in his yard, with an AR-15 type of weapon. The deceased, who ranged in age from eight to their early forties, were originally from Honduras. Authorities at the scene told reporters that the shooter, the so-called man, Mr Oropeza, an illegal alien from Mexico, had been deported at least twice before the tragedy, according to Univision 45 Houston. Here is a case where an illegal immigrant who was deported twice got himself access to a weapon, so how can the argument be made that more laws stop access to guns? I stated before that the criminal element will always find a way to get a hold of a weapon, and that strict enforcement is needed for the current laws to be applied. What is your take? What is the alternative to reducing gun violence? Looking for an answer beyond: "A bad guy with a gun is stopped by a good guy with a gun". I know that tape already. Maybe some ideas outside the box, to go at the root of the problem, I said mine, is more enforcement of laws, going after weapons smugglers, since that is the only way criminals such as this have access to such weapons.

Poll: Do you agree with the Tennessee statehouse expeling Democrats for gun control protest? Options: Yes No Other / Add a comment I stated my opinion on another thread: How is this going to play out on the federal stage? Who is the genius in the Republican Party which thought of this action? So, you have 2 Black Congressmen getting expelled and one white woman being saved by the vote, I just realised now, by looking into this story. This is about marketing, I don't even care what they did. Smarter choice would have been to expel all 3 or keep all 3 with some disciplinary action. Now, the story aired in every media, including at the CBC, and look, of course the race aspect is being brought up. A round of applause for the GOP strategists in Tennessee, probably decreased the Republican party by a few %. Of course, also Biden came out to take advantage of this politically. It keeps giving this story.

Poll: Do you agree with the school firing this Florida teacher for making students write their own obituaries? --- A fired Florida teacher, who made his students write their own obituaries, isn’t apologizing – or backing down. Jeffrey Keene, who teaches psychology at Dr. Phillips High School, is appealing his termination after he was let go for what the Orange County School District calls an “inappropriate” assignment about school violence. (This is a federal, national topic hence why the thread is here) https://nypost.com/2023/04/06/florida-teacher-fired-for-making-students-write-own-obituaries/

Poll: Do you agree with Biden calling for assault weapons ban after the Nashville shooting? U.S. President Joe Biden called on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban after six people, including three children, were killed in a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, the White House said. "We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart,” Biden said at the White House. "I call on Congress again to pass my assault weapons ban." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-calls-assault-weapons-ban-after-nashville-shooting-2023-03-27/

Poll: Do you agree with VP Harris only meeting expelled Tenn. Democrats but not mass shooting victims families? --- Harris privately met with ousted Democratic Reps. Justin Jones and Rep. Justin Pearson — as well as Rep. Gloria Johnson, who avoided expulsion by just one vote. She also met with advocates and the entire Democratic Tennessee state caucus — but notably did not visit the victims and families of the deadly school shooting, sparking intense outrage from critics. https://nypost.com/2023/04/08/kamala-harris-ripped-for-meeting-expelled-tenn-dems-and-not-mass-shooting-victims/ --- Already shared my opinion on the Tenn. Democrats. In my view, it was a mistake and it will cost the Republican Party but it seems VP Harris is balancing it out, politically. Looking for some Harris' defenders to step up to the plate and defend the VP with reason for a healthy discussion.

⬆️ Trending on a few media outlets. Poll: Should the below man, which did the shooting be charged? A Texas man whose truck was stolen used an Apple AirTag to track down the missing vehicle and shoot the man suspected of taking it, according to San Antonio police. Andrew John Herrera, 44, died of a gunshot wound to the head. The Bexar County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide, KSAT reports. It’s unclear if the person who fired on the alleged thief will face criminal charges. The Police Department spokesperson said: “If you are to get your vehicle stolen, I know it’s frustrating, but please do not take matters into your own hands like this." Apple condemned the shooting.

Regardless of the motive and insanity. Right, Left, Sexual, Non-Sexual, Terror, etc. Deranged Shooters have become a pervasive problem in our society, and one issue that has been debated is whether or not the names of the perpetrators should be publicised. Some countries, such as New Zealand, have laws in place that prohibit publishing the names of mass shooters to avoid giving them notoriety and discouraging future attacks. Proponents of this approach argue that the attention given to these individuals only serves to glorify their actions, while Opponents argue that the public has a right to know who committed such atrocities. To Name or Not to Name? I would name the motivation, but the name of the specimen? the name of the low level machine that resorted to such acts? Absolutely not. What is your view?
