  1. the fact that you equate everyone that disagrees with you to Nazi Germany is comical. Just curious.. if FL is such a perfect state.. why does it have 5 of the top 20 lowest counties in terms of per capita personal income as of 2021? Union, Lafayette, Hamilton, Liberty, and Desoto specifically in the top 20.
  2. A very random but IMO interesting selection for today
  3. this just shows how truly bored folks are. Getting all worked up over a garden variety country song.
  4. I could live in a small town. I will say that everybody wanting to know my business would get old. I spent summers in Shoup, Idaho and when we went to Salmon.. the gossip was horrendous. It was not just the women either.
  5. I do not oppose warning about drugs and do so often with my own kids. However, your black and white approach does not work. I have seen it with my own eyes and plenty of scientific journal articles show that your fire and brimstone approach is about as useful as walking up to them and smacking them with a lead pipe.
  6. Hmm... so just because a few (out of thousands or millions) do not issue warnings.. then that must mean that no one does. Wow... how do I get so out of touch with reality like you? Do you know why some (not all) support the idea of easing someone off drugs (injection sites being a form of this)? Because expecting someone to go from full on addiction to nothing and there being no consequences is not realistic. But this is not your utopia so what other unrealistic fantasies about this topic do you want to espouse?
  7. In SF.. there probably are old, outdated laws against it however most do not care if a heterosexual/homosexual couple does it with some oddball exceptions. One of those would be to not do it in front of the door at a restaurant/bar.. just move to the left or right. No different rules. I find in today's socio-political climate.. everyone plays victim. The left may have started it but the right has taken the baton and ran with it. To claim that you are oppressed simply because your ways are no longer the default option is not valid. If I was a small business owner, I would like to think that I have the right to refuse service to anyone. The customer surely has the right to take their business elsewhere. It comes down to the transaction being voluntary. If someone came to my business and wanted me to do something that promoted white supremacy and neo-nazism.. I would not do the job for them. In the West... they would have plenty of options as long as they ventured outside of SF, LA, Vegas, Portland, Seattle, Reno, and Salt lake city.
  8. Precisely.. or at least if they do so acknowledge that they knew the lay of the land and should not play victim. If you go to SF expecting Leave it to Beaver-Style Americana.. that is a you problem. In my example.. it is quite asinine to clam that they were shoving their homosexuality in my face (and therefore giving me permission to play victim). The two couples were simply occupying a given section of sidewalk and making out.. I came upon them knowing that there was a high probability of encountering them. As for the businesses catering to them, I think that they should have simply taken their business elsewhere. In Colorado.. they have plenty of other options.
  9. I challenge how you to explicitly show me where I said it was OK or that I condoned it. Now no opinions or reading reading between the lines.. show me explicit quotes.
  10. what would have happened to those in Africa had Europeans and Americans never had slavery? Interesting question. My guess is that slavery would have continued but with different customers.. Arabs, indians (subcontinent), Persia. Now as for colonialization not happening.. far less severe civil wars. They would still happen but the national boundaries set by Europeans did not line up with existing settlement patterns and stirred the pot unnecessarily.
  11. I laugh at this "shoving it in our faces" when I am the one that walked up on them. They were stationary (somewhere near the ball park) and so it is pure chance that I walked up on them. In most cases.. one knows when you are encountering an area where gays are prevalent and if this so bothers you... you just move along. Playing victim is not a very Conservative trait... IMHO.
  12. When I was in SF in 2014... I saw a few openly gay couples getting it on. I still do not how that tangibly affects me. Did not lose money, no physical harm was done to me, did not lose any life or health. Did I stare at them? No. Just saw it and moved on.
  13. Another interesting canadian selection. In other news.. i think that I am going to create a new blog centered on eclectic music.
  14. Back to the topic.. Crime happens in small towns. One, it does not make front page news nationwide. Second, when everybody knows everybody.. there is a shame factor and increased probability of getting caught. Does not mean that the folks are better, more moral, etc... different confines and therefore different results. Salmon, ID.... for a town of 3,000 in the middle of nowhere, there is a lot of meth there but that can't be.. its a small town.
  15. vague things... this tells me that you must never leave your house. This is proof that you get your "worldview" from cherry picked internet sites. I have been in k-12 schools and their messaging is not vague nor condoning of it. Now for those who already addicts... your approach does not work. I have seen it firsthand and your types get tuned out. If what you want is to talk to yourself... why bother talking to addict?
  16. this is like someone saying that punching yourself in the face hurts and should be avoided.
  17. you must live in another dimension or world. Most everyone I know is fully aware of the harm that illicit drugs do. Now, where we differ is that more realistic people that have ventured out of the house know that having everyone quit cold turkey is impossible. Therefore, being realistic and not using scare tactics is the way to go. If you tell someone the worst case scenario.. they will tune you out. I hate to be so harsh and realistic but your grasp on reality is tenuous at best.
  18. That is a matter of opinion. The introduction of electronics into rock music has changed things up quite a bit. What makes today's musical environment so tough is that they are increasingly dependent on almost non-stop touring. That is a hard life.
  19. I will let you folks debate the causes of climate change. All I know is that it is downright scorching out here. On the bright side, usually the 100+ degree temps start in late may/early june where this year, did not start until early July.
  20. Music industry today is brutal. I do not see his song as some work of genius that few if any could replicate. It is pretty garden variety as far as songwriting goes. Sometimes as an artist.. you strike a chord (figuratively).
  21. The more people object.. the more money he will make.
  22. He is making some serious income because of this controversy. Had no one objected.. it is just another song and probably in a few years gets put in the dustbin.
  23. Some of that as well. I was once homeless in Salt Lake City and goodness.. was it boring. Only so much time that you can spend at a library.
