^^^^ and you claim to want objective, constructive discussion. This shows otherwise hence why I rarely waste my time with you Now, no conspiratorial thinking, no links, no opinions... lets see you step out of your echo chamber. Why would a DA increase the amount from $500 to $1000 (just an example).. only practical reasons allowed. Can you do this or does the shield of anonymity keep you from doing this?

No.. not quite. In 1985, there was almost zero chance that your actions as a police officer would get you on the news and have society as a whole weighing in. Now these days, unless you live in a somewhat small town the microscope is on. Teachers face the same problem. They are blamed for all of society's ills. They are just convenient whipping boys.

Being that they are the next one in my concert lineup...A show I never thought I would see but they are coming to Reno.. fingers crossed that they do not cancel

It goes beyond that. They also know that they will be under society's microscope like no other. The simplest of mistakes will get them vilified and then they will politicos like those on this forum and either hailing them as a hero or blaming all of society's ills on them. A thankless job that puts you in a lose-lose situation at time. When interviewed anonymously.. this is what keeps prospective candidates from applying.

Office of the Prime Minister
impartialobserver replied to Queenmandy85's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
interesting OP. I do not know the office of the Prime Minister well enough to really weigh in. I will say that it is peculiar how Presidents/PM's are so nearly universally disliked and yet we insist on having them. I know that I am guilty.. I have a profound dislike/distrust of all politicians no matter the party or their office. -
"intentionally harmful" No, I disagree. I view it from someone who works in government and knows intimately the constraints. It seems vastly more logical that the police are simply stretched too thin and recruiting/hiring more police is not that simple. This is not some game on your phone where you click on a + sign and magically, more people come forth and everybody is ok with the greater tax burden. It is notoriously difficult to recruit and hire new police and even more difficult to get folks to be ok with their taxes going up to pay for it. Having been to SF 4 times in the last 5 years.. the only neighborhood that would quality as a rat-infested shithole is the Tenderloin district which encompasses 224 acres. Now, is every neighborhood brand new and shiny? No. It is expensive to maintain older buildings. Also, densely packed urban areas are not spotlessly clean.. that is just the nature of it.
-
So you can be realistic and admit that not every part of CA is ghetto or a shithole. On the other hand.. not everywhere in FL is perfect. I am in the northern 1/4 of CA at least once a month. Quincy, Susanville, Hat Creek, Weed, Alturas, Fort Bidwell... not much in common with LA other than the ", CA" after the name.
-
Its called being realistic... give it a try. No place is as terrible as you depict or as perfect on the other hand. All places are a mix of good and not so good. I love my current state of residence, Nevada. However, there are a few neighborhoods in North Las Vegas that are unseemly. Is the whole state like that? Folks like you would say so but those of us who have seen the entirety of the state would know better. My home state of Idaho is another. Mostly a great place to live but not every neighborhood is full of upstanding individuals.

"Argue one's point of view" .. and yet he (and most others on here) claim that they seek constructive, civilized, objective debate. And yet... the name calling (commie, nazi, goose stepper, libtard) comes out in the first response. Hmmm.. not very convincing. Need to work on your BS. At least.. keep the name calling until the second response..

Have you ever been to CA... specifically not LA or SF? Your contention is that LA, SF, and OAK embody the whole state. Hmm.. they account for 627.57 square miles out of 163,696 or roughly .4% of the state's square mileage. Hmmm... so what does the other 99.6% of the state look like (look below).. Seems like someone is cherry picking.. Picking 2 or 3 negative examples and thinking that these represent the whole. susanville Vacavllle

the source for this is https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/saipe/data/datasets.2021.html. Of the 50 lowest by measure of per capita person income... 19 are in FL, GA, AL, AR, or MS. Only 9 are out west with CO, UT, ID, and NM only appearing in that top 50. One measure of an economy is the income of the residents.. thriving economies translate to high incomes. You notice how CA, NV, OR, WA.. the states you hate do not show up on this list. Also, unbeknownst to you there is an awful lot of the west that is very sparsely populated and therefore very Conservative. Take a look at Bishop, CA just a bit...
