  1. There is no way to prove this in any way but it would be my contention that the lack of enforcement is across the board. When I went to Las Vegas in 2019 for a work trip.. there were mostly nude women (topless and only the most minimal covering in front) out in the open. For the 2 hours that I was in the vicinity of them.. never saw anyone getting arrested so again.. lack of enforcement.
  2. I have no issue with this. While they are a bit misguided... at least they actually did something other than whine and complain. Most likely.. in a few years, they will have their conventions back in Orlando.
  3. https://www.pewresearch.org/hispanic/interactives/u-s-unauthorized-immigrants-by-state/ If FL is such a perfect place... why does it have 775,000 illegal immigrants. Oh but this source can't be trusted because it does not say what a certain someone wants to hear.
  4. The deal is that the laws do exist against public nudity but apparently is not enforced. Lots of laws are not enforced strictly or at all. This is not the same as having laws that allow for public nudity.
  5. my guess is that they will fall well short of a million people. The million man march of 1995 did not have a million people in it and Canada has far less population to draw from
  6. Well.. instead of simply taking shots, lets see you produce better numbers. Now.. no cheating and simply cherry picking stuff off the internet. Lets you produce a data set that uses a verifiable objective methodology.
  7. EV's or something similar to it are not going away. The technology at present may not be perfect and the prices too high but that can be resolved. The days of the 4-mpg gas guzzler are over.. like it or not. I am open to the idea of purchasing an EV when the range improves and the price comes down.
  8. Well then this is your chance to produce better, objective numbers on this topic. Now, no opinions, name calling, or rhetoric. Lets see you produce a data set on this... repeat data set. Not a diatribe about how you hate the state of CA and everyone in it. How do you know its not reliable? Do you know the actual methodology? Lets see something other than name calling from you.
  9. White victim.... such a comedian. It is more like one is a bit oversensitive and because you are not being celebrated for being white. Keep in mind that your being white is purely random... so you want to celebrated, exalted for something that you had no control over. That is the epitome of hollow.
  10. Well.. I will choose to live in the real world where extreme examples are not representative of the whole. Its your reality.. see it how you will. Its a great thing that I do not have your views at my current job. I have had some incredibly low-IQ folks come my way being as I do deal with the public... however, every case is unique and so I do not automatically assume that they are like those id10ts.
  11. Its been my obsession since age 7 (1984 to be exact). Been jamming out since I first watched MTV and was simply entranced. The first song that I had to find out who it was.. was Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly. Its about time that I channel this into something productive and possibly lucrative.
  12. By your logic, I should make generalizations based on the most extreme of examples. For example.. white women will kill their kids because Lori Vallow did. https://www.npr.org/2023/07/31/1191058640/vallow-lori-daybell-sentence-murder-doomsday
  13. Interesting how you only bring out the most extreme examples. If you saw someone who was 5'11" and 200 lbs... would you draw conclusions about them upon first look? Do you view this condition as something that they can fix/resolve or are stupid, lazy, worthless, no impulse control, etc and once broken.. can't be fixed.
  14. Well.. if you do not focus on the process then folks pick apart your stuff. You could do 999 things perfectly but do not get the 1000th correct... the whole product is garbage. You can't give someone ammunition to discount your analysis. They tend to be skeptical because they do not understand the math/statistics or in the case of politicians... do not have the brain power to understand it. Does the analysis always go the way I think it will.. no. Sometimes you do an analysis and come to find out my assumptions/ideas that I held before were not so legit in the end.
  15. Irrelevant. Your short attention span is not something that is visible to a stranger upon the first look. A person would have to interact with you and do so repeatedly in order to see it. No matter how you spin it...it is cold, hard, truth. Most would try to empathize with you about your short attention span. "My brain goes a mile a minute, I can never focus on anything either. I jump from this to that and then from that to this".. I hear it all of the time. However, being obese just gets you an awkward look and an "i bet its hard". Well, we must live in different realities. I do not see anyone celebrating it. They tolerate or accept it but do not celebrate it. Treating a person with respect when they are 200 lbs. apparently is not in your repertoire.
  16. Apparently not condemning one over their struggles is exactly the same as celebrating these struggles.
  17. Here is the difference.. I would have to know you personally in order to see this "short attention span". Second, most would not deem this as a negative but rather a quirk. Someone who is 190 lbs when they should be 150... all you have to do is look at them once. I know that you know everyone's life story (even if you have never met them) but you have no actual info on how/why they are not 150 lbs. I know that in your alternate dimension, this differs but in my real world most view obseity as a health problem and a fixable health problem. A health problem much like a cavity or a urinary tract infection that does not tell you all about a person.
  18. I do recall from my days at grad school/academia that if our very complex analysis affirmed what someone claimed then we were brilliant, amazing, and every other superlative that you could think of. Now, if it did not... then our analysis was abstract nonsense and that we should rely on reason and logic instead.
  19. It does appear to be one very long run on sentence.. 270 words and 1,330 characters.
  20. Oh how soon you forget. In my first post.. I thought I made it clear that I do not believe it to be a zero sum game. If someone did believe this to be true. .. then you would make an independent variable for it. How accurate this would be.. dubious at best but only because you would have to decide on a fixed number. Well, the point is that proving your claim or that of the opposition numerically and objectively is not as simple as it sounds. Lots of variables, lots of tests, and lots of converting data to this format or that format.
  21. thread translated.. someone wants affirmation.
  22. the math either proves your claim or it does not.. I am not bored enough to actually gather the data, construct the model, and do the test. We attempted this in grad school and it simply became too onerous. I tend to prefer let the data speak for me on topics such as this where you can quantify all aspects of it. I can have opinions but if the data does not back that up.. which one is wrong? The lack of a zero sum-game is just an assumption that you build in. If wealth/income was a zero-sum game then you would add it in as independent variable such as x4 or whatever. If I had to guess whether the income gap is the Y variable or not.. my guess is that the math should prove it to be an independent variable but somewhat weak in correlation. Middle income earners are who buy specialty consumption goods. The production/distribution of consumption goods not directly tied to surviving is where you see the high salary careers.
  23. Typically, an economist views something like this. The data that you feed in are tied to the independent variables or x1, x2, x3, etc. Y (result) = Beta(statistical constant) + x1 + x2 + x3 + ..... the process of deciding what is the Y can be quite challenging. In your estimation, the "income gap" is the result. In the view of others on here, the Y is job growth. If you do this purely objectively, you decide to put something on the left (result) versus the right (ingredient) based on statistical tests such as correlation or p-value. If you really want to know.. I could lay it out but for now going to nip it in the bud.
  24. Not willingly opting to be a slave is much the same as not willingly accepting being ruled by an outsider. The first is individual.. the second is group but same mindset. A lot of nations in South America and Africa were economically in better shape when ruled by Europeans so why want independence and therefore economic decline? Simple.. humans like to be in control of their own affairs.
