Global Oil Prices Rise!!
Rebound replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
And your “proof” was five years old and I posted the most recent data. Try to keep up with the grown ups, will you?. The rest of your comments are ridiculous and based on you making stuff up. Windmills work just fine in the cold. “Turbines need maintenance.” Geez…. Don’t you know that EVERY form of electricity generation, except solar, uses a turbine? You don’t know that? Coal plant? Turbine Hydroelectric plant? Turbine Nuclear plant? Turbine Rotor/Stator in every form of bulk electricity generation except photovoltaic. -
Biden Impeachment - Bad for the GOP

Look, dum dum, no matter how many times it’s explained, you refuse to accept fact. Everybody wanted the Ukrainian prosecutor fired. The entire European Union, the World Bank, the IMF and the Obama Administration. Nobody wanted that prosecutor to remain except for the prosecutor. -

2017 was five years ago. By 2021, wind produced 26% of Texas electricity and it continued to grow. https://comptroller.texas.gov/economy/fiscal-notes/2022/sep/energy.php In ERCOT’s latest data, you can see that Wind accounted for far more than 1/3 of Texas’ total electrical generation for several months and 23% overall for the year: https://www.ercot.com/files/docs/2023/02/07/IntGenbyFuel2023.xlsx Wind does not need to supply 100% of a region’s power. It makes no sense to shut down all electricity generating infrastructure. Nobody’s going to shut down a perfectly good natural gas turbine, although they might reduce output in preference for renewable energy when sun or wind are strong. -

You keep forgetting the facts: Wind turbines have recently undergone dramatic technological improvements. They don’t just pump sea water out of Holland anymore. 50% of Iowa’s electricity comes from wind. 50% of Denmark’s electricity comes from wind. 30% of Texas’ electricity comes from wind. Canada has a lot of wind. Windmills do not cause cancer. Windmills can operate in extreme cold. Windmills don’t take up a lot of space. Spread over enough space, there’s always wind blowing somewhere. Wind has a $0 fuel cost. Wind is the biggest enemy those Arab terrorist dictator leaders have got. -
You are incorrect. Most of the issues raised in this case relate to who has standing to make the challenge and whether the fourteenth amendment applies to the Presidency and whether “support the Constitution” is different from “defend the constitution.” The Constitution does not say that a conviction is needed. I do not know why Trump was not specifically charged with Insurrection, but I think it may the that particular law states that anyone convicted of the crime is ineligible to hold any federal office, and that prohibition is probably unconstitutional.
-
We shall see. Biden said that he would testify publicly. I don’t know why the Repugs are so afraid of public testimony. Sounds as though they are determined to have a secret deposition which they can edit and selectively leak in order to skew what Biden said. And I can see why he would oppose doing that. We have a Fifth Amendment and since he is the target of their investigation he cannot be compelled to testify against himself.
-
Could you be more specific? It seems very very common for judges to refuse to rule on Constitutional issues because they think nobody has any standing to do so. This happened when people sued to block Obama from the ballot with the false and unproven claim that he was not a U.S. citizen. But in this case, plaintiffs did prove Trump participated or aided in insurrection. It’s likely going to the SCOTUS and the 3 judges he appointed will likely be corrupt and refuse to recuse themselves despite obvious conflict of interest and they will likely rule in Trump’s favor, so quit whining.
-
The Constitution does not say that conviction for the crime of insurrection is required for disqualification. This is clear because the 14th Amendment disqualified former Civil War participants even though those people had not been convicted of a crime for fighting in the Civil War as a Confederate. In your video, this man doesn’t make any legal arguments at all. He “just says so.” But he doesn’t explain at all why the claim is invalid, except that Trump was not convicted of participating in an insurrection or giving aid and comfort to those who did. What we do have here is a judicial finding of fact that Trump did indeed participate in an insurrection. The lower court judge wrote a 100 page ruling on that fact.

Says a “foundation” funded by one guy, and run by a man who worked for Shell Oil for thirty-one years. Hardly unbiased. https://factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com.32HG6HR The Oil and Coal industry funds this non-scientific, lying nonsense and they are laughing their asses off at you for believing it: ”Dark Money” Funds Climate Change Denial Effort “The amount of money flowing through third-party, pass-through foundations like DonorsTrust and Donors Capital, whose funding cannot be traced, has risen dramatically over the past five years. In all, 140 foundations funneled $558 million to almost 100 climate denial organizations from 2003 to 2010. Meanwhile the traceable cash flow from more traditional sources, such as Koch Industries and ExxonMobil, has disappeared.”

Biden Impeachment - Bad for the GOP

I think the fake news you’re reading has you fooled into believing that there’s any kind of evidence which can indict Joe Biden. There is utterly none. There isn’t even probable cause. The House GOP will not impeach Biden unless there is compelling, actual evidence. Yes, many Republicans will vote to impeach Biden for merely eating a ham sandwich, but not all of them. Taking that another step, in the extremely unlikely event that the House does impeach Biden, unless some heretofore unknown evidence is produced, based on what we know today, there is a zero percent chance that the Senate will convict. Of course new evidence could make a difference, but that’s true of everything, excepting that there are Trump supporters who literally don’t even care that the man said flat out he would become dictator of the US on Day One of his Presidency. -

“No proof they didn’t”? By your logic, you are a mass murderer and you have no proof that you are not a mass murderer… therefore you are a mass murderer. That’s your logic at work. Beside that; there is now evidence that the Nordstrom was sabotaged by Ukrainian agents. -

Let me ask you something: If windmills provide half the electricity of Iowa, half the electricity of Denmark, and 30% of the electricity of Texas… a huge state… what is it about the technology that is not ready? Understand… we aren’t talking about switching to 0% petroleum consumption, we’re talking about substantially shifting a large percentage of electrical generation to renewables while simultaneously transition to a larger percentage of electric vehicles. And, looking at electric vehicles, Porsche has a screamer of an EV that outperforms its gas powered cars. Tesla has EV’s that smoke Corvettes and Ferraris. So it’s not like electric cars are slow. -

Exactly! Renewable energy is the best solution. The alternative is to keep sending our children to die in the Mideast for oil, destroying our environment and waiting for the day when oil inevitably becomes scarce. What’s the upside in that? Renewable energy has zero fuel cost, only capital and maintenance. -
Well you’re a big fat liar. You said, “Biden sucks up to Xi”, and another poster showed you a link proving that Biden called the man a dictator. So this proves you were FOS, and you know it does, so you tried to move the goalpost by calling Biden’s China policy a “disaster.” Of course, you don’t even know what Biden’s China policy is, much less whether it’s having the intended effect, much less what alternative would be better. (My guess? “Whatever sputters out of Trump’s mouth is better,” is what you’ll say. Cause heaven knows you can’t think for yourself.)

British Petroleum announced they are suspending shipping operations in the Persian Gulf following missile attacks from Yemen. As a result, oil prices have increased globally. First Point: A guy in Canada fills up his car with gas drilled and refined in Canada… still pays more. Doesn’t it feel great to get shafted up the butt like that? The cost to make the gas didn’t increase at all, but because of something 7,000 miles away which has nothing at all to do with the gas that goes inside your car… you still pay more. Second Point: This illustrates how Islamic terrorism controls our lives. And because these missiles are funded by Iran, who is in turn funded by oil, it shows how our over-dependence on oil harms us. Third Point: Locally generated renewable energy is immune from this effect. Its price is only subject to LOCAL supply, demand and regulation. It’s why electricity is so cheap in regions served by hydroelectric (renewable) electricity. Thirty percent of the electricity generated in Texas and fifty percent of the electricity generated in Iowa comes from windmills. Wind works. It will never supply 100% of our power, but it doesn’t need to. As we build more and more renewable electric generation, such as solar and wind, our energy prices will plummet and we will become truly energy independent. America and Canada will never be energy independent on coal and petroleum alone. https://www.forbes.com/sites/gauravsharma/2023/12/18/oil-giant-bp-joins-shipping-companies-in-pausing-shipments-via-red-sea/amp/

Well guess what… we aren’t going to trust the random “I say so” of an anonymous person in the Internet. Shocking, isn’t it? Shouldn’t you just be able to spout out stupid nonsense like, “The sky is yellow,” or “The Earth is flat” without providing any evidence at all, and just assume that people will believe the ldiotic things you say? Too bad! Not gonna happen.

It’s funny how you people keep calling Democrats Communist and Socialist, when you’re the one supporting dictatorship. And there’s no difference at all between capitalism, socialism and communism if the nation is ruled by a dictator. -
