Trump claims immunity from ANYTHING!
Rebound replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No evidence yet? So Trump has all the evidence and he’s been hiding it all along? -
As we witness yet another Arab-Israeli war, I ask this simple question to the supporters of Palestine: Can you show us the borders? Can you show us a map with border lines which the Palestinian people will peacefully accept? Because, you see… that part is always missing! The Palestinian leadership does not have a published map which they will accept. Instead, what we hear is “From the River to the Sea!,” and THAT means from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea… in other words, all of Israel. This is why the war never, ever ends: The Palestinians, particularly Hamas and Hezbollah, do not accept any borders less than the entirety of Israel. Now, you may think, “Gee, isn’t it awfully racist of those Israelis to refuse one single, unified nation?” Fair question. The answer is, No. The Israelis will never accept a single, unified nation because Muslim majority nations have all expelled Jews. The list is enormous: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iran Iraq and Afghanistan have all expelled their Jewish populations. Knowing that, you can surely understand that the Jews of Israel would never accept a unified, Muslim majority rule, because it would mean their expulsion. Most of Israel’s Jewish population are refugees or their descendants. Not white, colonial settlers, but dark complexioned Sephardic Jews of Northern Africa and the Middle East, along with Jews who were kicked out of Europe and Russia. They have nowhere else to go. Everybody wants peace. The question is whether there is any peace which is acceptable to the Palestinians. I believe that you will not find such a map anywhere, but let’s see…

Rep. Babin to Newsmax: End Birthright Citizenship
Rebound replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
“All persons born in the United States… and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.” So is the argument that the children of illegal immigrants are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States? Under US law, if a person is present within the US, they are subject to US jurisdiction, unless they are present as a foreign ambassador, in which case they are partially exempt from US law. -
The NY fraud case? That is not an indictment… he’s already been found guilty in that case. The only purpose of the trial is to determine damages. And… just in case you harbor some residual thought that Trump is intelligent, consider these facts: The amount of damages are being determined solely by Judge Engoron. The reason there is no jury is that Trump voluntarily chose to waive his right to a jury. Trump’s choice alone. Trump then complained that he was being “denied” trial by jury, even though it was Trump’s sole decision. Trump, and only Trump, decided that the best course of action would be to relentlessly insult and attack the judge, his clerk, and the judge’s family. Now, tell me: Is that a “smart” thing to do? Insult the judge who will rule on whether the damages you need to pay will be, say, $20 million or $250 million? Is that how he will get the best outcome? Is he going to file an appeal by claiming, “The judge was biased against me because I insulted him and his family every day for four months”? Not a good strategy!

No evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election. But there is plenty of evidence — and now a court ruling — that Trump instigated an insurrection against the U.S. government, that he raped a woman, and that his company committed widespread financial fraud. And plenty or evidence that he kept highly classified documents and hid them the government in defiance of a subpoena. -

Because I read the indictments, which lay out the crimes and the evidence proving that the crimes occurred. And Trump’s defense so far has been terrible. He hasn’t once defended himself against the accusations. Instead he’s made ridiculous claims, such as, “I invisibly declassified the documents through a standing order which no-one ever heard of” to “the President has Absolute Immunity against any criminal prosecution for crimes committed while in office,” to “DOJ is weaponized” (duh… of course justice is a weapon), to “the judge, clerk, witnesses, and their families are… [insult of the day]” -

Are you denying that Jack Smith has also prosecuted Democrats? What rock have you been living under while the Republican establishment have been going apeshit over Hunter Biden? -

So you cannot explain. Got it. How can you claim that the Justice Department is politically “weaponized,” when it has indicted the son of the President of the US? I am certain that Trump is guilty of the crimes which he has been indicted for. However, he is not convicted until a jury says so. That’s how the US system of justice works. Surprised you didn’t know that. -

So explain THIS: A Federal Prosecutor who was appointed by Trump, who Joe Biden could have fired, remained on his job, and just filed a Federal indictment against President Biden’s son. That doesn’t sound like the act of a “weaponized” Justice Department. And Federal Prosecutor Jack Smith, who has prosecuted Democrats, stated that if he were directed or ordered to prosecute Donald Trump, he’d quit. -
Sadly for you, a court of appeals has ruled that Donald Trump DID participate in an insurrection. So here again: You Make Up Fantasies. Because the way American Justice works is you present FACTS to JUDGES and JURIE in accordance with LAW and the CONSTITUTION. You simply cannot accept that America is a nation of law. You repeatedly invent your own truth. You want something to be a certain way, and then declare that it is so. Back in the 1800’s, there was a crazy man in San Francisco, who called himself Emperor Norton. He decreed that a bridge shall be built to connect San Francisco and Oakland. You’re that guy. You just invent your own decrees, devoid of all reality.

If the charges are bogus, why is Trump burning up millions to delay? Why attack the judges assigned to his cases? Why not just have your day in court, win your case, and declare victory? The reason these cases are sucking up Trump’s time and money is that Trump is deliberately making them into massive productions. And he’s foolishly ticked off that filing 100+ frivolous motions isn’t enough to end the cases. -

No. It’s drop-dead simple: If these charges against Trump are false, he’d just have his swift and speedy trials, win, and then attack the prosecution. You don’t file endless delay tactics if you’re innocent. The easy case to follow is the documents case, because it’s obvious he had the documents and that he wasn’t supposed to have them. As for the others, you admit that you don’t know about them, you just have your conclusions. Prosecutor Jack Smith is non-partisan. He prosecuted Democrat John Edwards, for example. Oh, and Edwards dropped his Presidential bid and the prosecution continued. All you have is conspiracy; you’ve made up your own facts and your own beliefs and motivations. -
I do not know how much money the Clintons made, but if one dollar of it was unlawful, they should be prosecuted. All you said was they “profited from public office.” Definitely they profited as a result of holding public office, which is perfectly fine, but if they sold influence or otherwise acted illegally, for sure they should face prosecution. I have no objection to that. People who break the law should be prosecuted.

Caswell was clear that Trump needs to be prosecuted in accordance with LAW. Many people died as a result of Jan6, and Trump is the reason why. He is Instigator-in-Chief. And he interfered with the Georgia election, for which he is being prosecuted. Maybe the problem stems from growing up a filthy rich that he truly believed that the laws don’t apply to him. And as an adult, he learned that if you spend enough money on a civil lawsuit, you will always win by virtue of out-spending your opponent. But now his opponents are the Federal and State governments, and his tricks of filing non-stop motions won’t work against them. He has no-one to blame but himself. He believed laws don’t apply to him, that he’s allowed to do anything he wants, and when a lawyer tells him to control his behavior, he fires that lawyer and gets one who will tell him what he wants to hear.

I’ve been following his legal cases very closely. They are probably the most expensive criminal cases in history, by far. And the reason they are so expensive is simple: Trump has tens of millions of (donor) dollars to spend, and he’s guilty as f*ck. Since he’s dead to rights guilty, he’s wasting a fortune filing one pointless motion after another, trying to delay his inevitable prosecution. Last week, he filed the absurd motion to dismiss the charges on the notion that a President is exempt from criminal law. What is his basis for this? The law? Nope. The Constitution? Nope. Case law? Nope. Justice Department rulings? Nope. US Senate impeachment proceedings? Definitely not. Trump’s incessant frivolous motions and his irrational behavior, attacking witnesses, the prosecution, judges, people who work for judges, the families of people who work for judges… that’s why these cases are so expensive. What do you call someone who attacks the family of the judge and judge’s staff and witnesses during prosecution of his trial? You call them crazy! You don’t improve the outcome of your own trial by insulting and attacking the judge every day. And witness intimidation is a felony. Surely his lawyers have told him this many times. To be honest, Donald Trump is clearly suffering from some form of dementia. He’s not doing what normal people do. -
Oh I see. “Legitimate indictment” means an indictment against somebody you hate, not the legally-accepted usage of “criminal charge(s) filed and accepted by a court based upon findings of probable cause, as determined by a grand jury or prosecutor, depending upon the nature of the crime and jurisdictional requirements.” Which, of course, is what a “legitimate” indictment actually is. Silly of me to fail to realize that there’s a special secret MAGA definition to everything.

If it’s simple to understand, then please explain it simply: Does the President of the U.S. have absolute immunity from any criminal prosecution for any crime he commits while President of the United States? -
Why is this bad news for lefties? If Hunter Biden broke the law, he should be prosecuted. What is not clear to me is whether he’s charged with paying his taxes late (which isn’t much of a big deal and people don’t go to jail over) or if he filed the returns late AND they were dishonest (which is a big deal and people do go to jail over).
