  1. Riiiight… yet we have the lowest period opinion sub-4% unemployment in history. So low that the Fed raised interest rates over and over in an effort to INCREASE unemployment.
  2. It’s about Trump suggesting there SHOULD be a civil war if he were removed from office. He wasn’t making a prediction, he was calling for insurrection. He established a pattern of insurrection and intimidation of witnesses, judges and prosecuted.
  3. Vietnam is also a communist country. And while they’re manufacturing shoes and textiles, those industries are not as technologically advanced as electronics and other forms of manufacturing. The investments are large, and China has tens of thousands of mechanical and electrical engineers who can bring up and manage this level of manufacturing. India is a joke for manufacturing. They’re rife with corruption and it’s almost impossible to ship anything into or out of that country without paying bribes. India needs a lot of internal reform until they can become a manufacturing powerhouse. Maybe Mohdi will do something about that, but it will take time and then the factories will need to be built. It’s not a trivial thing.
  4. The law doesn’t work that way. He has been found guilty in a state court. The Federal government has no authority over state courts. They will seize his assets and there isn’t a damn thing he can do about it, not even if he’s President. The Congress can’t bail him out and the US Supreme Court can’t.
  5. The facts don’t line up with what you’re saying. There wasn’t just a Jan 6 insurrection. There was a continual campaign to falsely claim the election was stolen. There was intimidation and pressure of election officials throughout the country. There was widespread defamation of election equipment makers. There were fake slates of electors set up, who had falsified documentation created, which claimed they were legitimately selected Presidential electors. There was intimidation of the Vice President to break the law. And Mitt Romney stated that US Senators told him they voted against Trump’s impeachment because they feared for their lives and their families’ lives.
  6. The “hardened communist radicals” are doing a great job of growing the US economy, aren’t they?
  7. In New York State, we will get a ruling soon on the damages Donald Trump will pay in his civil fraud trial. He has already been found guilty; the ruling is only on the amount of damages. Throughout the case, Donald Trump repeatedly and continually insulted the judge. Yes, Donald Trump thinks that the one person who will rule on his damages is someone he should intimidate an insult. Damage estimates in this case range from $150 million to $750 million, along with the dissolution of all of Trump’s New York businesses, and a ban on Donald Trump and his children from operating businesses in the state of New York. If Donald Trump is indeed a billionaire, he certainly does not have $500 to $750 million in cash, and this ruling is very likely to lead him to liquidate half or more of his assets. And there is little he can do about it — of course he will file an appeal, but the law is the law. Trump has already laid out his arguments in court, and none have been compelling. This ruling, coming in about two weeks, is likely to bring an end to the Trump empire.
  8. I do not shop at Wal-Mart, because I am aware of the fact that they force companies to outsource their American production to China, even when they’re already cost competitive. OTOH, it is impossible to buy many common goods with zero Chinese-made content.
  9. America has used voting machines for over seventy five years. Given that, I don’t know what you mean by “manual.” They had paper ballots in Florida that turned out to be very confusing to use and subject to dimples and chads. But in any case, Biden beat Trump by over 7 million votes and crushed him in the Electoral College and Trump is going to lose again.
  10. You aren’t against Trump, and that guy’s the most divisive politician in the world.
  11. The law is the law. If you drive 100 miles an hour and hurt no-one, is your defense that there were no victims?
  12. Here you go, dum-dum: A 100 page finding of fact, legally accepted by eight judges, establishing unanimously that Donald Trump participated in an insurrection against the United States of America. https://www.courts.state.co.us/userfiles/file/Court_Probation/Supreme_Court/Opinions/2023/23SA300.pdf
  13. Again, to quote from the article you cited: ”The Fed is seeking to weaken the economy just enough to bring inflation down without causing a recession.” The article reports that the Federal Reserve’s policies to slow our economy, in order to reduce inflation, and increase (yes, increase) unemployment, are working.
  14. Trump has already been found guilty of fraud in New York. His CFO and top lawyer both went to prison.
  15. Trump hasn’t turned up one shred of evidence of widespread election fraud. He had his day in court and his recounts and got his ass kicked. Biden beat Trump by over seven million votes.
  16. Everybody could see it was an insurrection on Jan 6. At the time, I thought the cops should have mowed the fckers down with automatic weapons. You don’t get to attack my Capitol.
  17. The House Jan. 6 committee has already laid out the case very clearly. No need to restate it all. Trump refused in September 2020 to state he would support a peaceful transfer of power if he lost. He told the proud boys to Stand By. There’s abundantly documented evidence that ALL of his advisors and his attorney general told him he lost and that there was no evidence of widespread fraud. He illegally pressured election officials to corruptly change the voting outcome. He illegally established “alternate electors,” including fraudulent certificates. He chose to rally on Jan 6 specifically. He had other protests and rally’s rescheduled to Jan 6. He conspired with those organizers to tell the Park Service there would be no march to the Capitol, and to say so on the permit applications. He called supporters to “Stop the Steal.” He sat for three hours watching the attacks on TV and doing nothing to stop it. He didn’t call any National Guard, Army or police units to deploy.
  18. The purpose of war is to achieve peace. Peace is cheaper than war. It’s better for business, too. But I’m not naive, either.
  19. The man who lacks objectivity here is you. When Donald Trump lead chants of “Lock Her Up,” his crowds cheered. Now that the shoe’s on the other foot, they’re whining like babies. They can dish it out, but they can’t take it. Boo Hoo, snowflakes.
  20. Trump won’t be President, so America won’t fall into the fascist dictatorship Trump promised, so we will be free to say whatever we want.
  21. There are many different voting systems. But the Dominion voting system is actually very good. It prints a human-readable ballot. The voter gets to see who he voted for on a piece of paper that prints out. He then hands it to an election official and it is stored, so if there’s a recount, they have both the electronic and the paper ballots to go back to. The Trumpers create their own reality by fabricating stories of what could theoretically happen. That does not make their fantasies true. For instance, the Trumpers say that it is theoretically possible that an unemployed 18 year-old single girl without a passport somehow got a passport without leaving a record, bought a very expensive international plane ticket, flew to an undisclosed country, gave birth, then flew back to Hawaii, got a birth certificate faked, conned a doctor into falsely claiming he’d delivered her baby, got him to sign a birth certificate, got the newspaper to publish a false birth announcement… all for no discernible reason. But it’s possible, so therefore, it must be true? You can construct any sort of bizarre fantasy you want about Hugo Chavez and aliens from space faking ballots… that doesn’t make it true or provable in court.
  22. Earth will be just fine. But human life will not be. You said that Arctic ice is not melting. That is absolutely, provably false. NASA has been using satellites to measure the minimum and maximum extents of Arctic ice for many decades. They’ve mapped it out. It is absolutely melting. You can see for yourself: https://climate.nasa.gov
  23. Insurrectionist Quote: “Stop The Steal” If Trump believed the election was rigged, he had the right to legally and lawfully challenge it. He did not have the right to pressure state election officials in Georgia, Michigan, and Arizona to violate their state laws and “find Trump votes” which weren’t cast, or appoint electors who weren’t duly appointed by law, or to overturn the legitimate legal outcomes. He didn’t have the authority to order or persuade Mike Pence to corruptly refuse the electoral votes lawfully out before him, and he certainly did not have the authority to whip his supporters up into frenzy which lead to rioting that lead to five deaths and the interruption of electoral ballot counting. He had the right to sue, to obtain evidence through court order, to request recounts. He did all that. No result was overturned in a single precinct. You have been buying into lies, my friend. That is why the piece of shlt Donald Trump is facing 91 felony charges. He knew the rules. He knew the laws. His attorneys advised him on what was and was not lawful. He thought laws and rules don’t apply to him. They do! And he’s going to go to prison because of it. His own ultra-loyal attorney general told him he lost. That there was no evidence of widespread fraud. Trump made up his mind before the election even happened; his strategy was to remain President no matter what. All he had to do was step aside after the legal oaths were exhausted. He refused. Now Trump is filing all sorts of motions claiming “Absolute Immunity,” and the courts are consistently saying “No way; the President has no such immunity.” And he knows it; he is going to trial.
  24. Here’s your problem: You say the economy is bad. That’s just talking shlt. There are objective measures of economic performance. Lots and lots of them. Figures that Trump used all the time — Unemployment (we’re all-time low), the DJIA (we’re all-time high), and so forth. And you’re incapable of pulling one single measure out of your ass which objectively makes your point.
  25. Repeating myself: If you READ the articles of secession written and passed by the legislatures of the Confederate states, particularly South Carolina and Mississippi, the very first sentence of each document states that the reason was slavery. THAT is what the secessionists formally said at the time of secession. Not Emancipation Proclamation. At the time of secession. Formally. Officially. It’s called a Primary Source. That trumps whatever revisionist nonsense you’ve been reading. To quote from one of them: ”Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery – the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product, which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth.” Given that fact, you cannot say that slavery was not the primary cause of the Civil War. It absolutely was.
