You’re the person who thinks roads and recreation centres will magically sprout from the ground when property taxes are eliminated though. So why should your opinion be taken seriously on any political subject?

It’s only brainwashing if it’s a viewpoint they disagree with. I’m sure they wouldn’t tell you that women got the vote because people were brainwashed into thinking it was the right thing to do. Or maybe they would?

But Canadians don’t want him. He is unelectable. This was clear from the last election. Any Liberal who wasn’t Trudeau beat him when he was on the path to absolutely obliterate the current government at the polls.

I don’t think it’s only progressives. Do you have any data to show it’s only progressives not having children? Some? The next generation of the immigrants will be a lot more progressive than their parents. Just like the people who were here previously. Don’t you know any children of immigrants? Progressiveness isn’t passed through genes. However, society changes all the time. You think Canada of 1900, where women couldn’t vote (for example), is the same society as it is now? It’s a lot different, and a lot better in nearly every measure.

He’d be as bad a choice as PP, and just as unelectable, but in a different way.

Different municipalities have different tax rates. Less desirable areas will have lower property values and lower taxes. If this is an issue for you, buy where taxes are less. Sounds like a win for your pocketbook.

It should come out of his paycheque.

How do you suggest paying for police, fire, ambulance, disaster relief, swimming pools, hockey rinks, roads, garbage pickup, drinking water, the place your $hit goes, etc, etc, etc if not by taxes?

You think political ideology is something one is born with? How has each successive generation become more progressive than its parents then?

Air Canada Strike -Does Mark Carney have "power"?
TreeBeard replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Air Canada couldn’t offer this before the strike? Why didn’t they? Turns out, Air Canada was relying on the government to prevent a work stoppage. Good for the union to push back. Isn’t a right to strike part of the law? Part of our Charter, in fact? -
Texas Redistricting
TreeBeard replied to gatomontes99's topic in State Politics in the United States
Presidential votes can’t be gerryrigged; electors are selected by state results. No ridings/districts. Although, they can change some of the systems on how electors are assigned to favour a particular candidate. -
Texas Redistricting
TreeBeard replied to gatomontes99's topic in State Politics in the United States
Didn’t the Democrats have a bill that Republicans killed that would have made gerrymandering illegal? -
Texas Redistricting

The Democrats should certainly play by the Republican’s rules, or they will lose. The most populist states are generally Democratic ones, so they have a lot more to gain by gaming the system. -

CUPE tears up Carney’s return to work order.

You think Carney is Air Canada’s negotiator? Is there anything this man doesn’t do?? -
First Nations Summit Ends In Disaster For Carney
TreeBeard replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Conservatives: “Indigenous people shouldn’t have a say on infrastructure projects”. Indigenous people don’t get what they want from Carney. Also Conservatives: “Carney is a failure despite doing exactly what we want”! Shouldn’t conservatives be praising Carney for the summit ending this way?
