  1. Just heard the Polliwog on CKNW duck, dodge, lie and repeat his mealy mouth idea of what he thinks is a climate plan. Oh he's all for LNG exports they'll help India reduce THEIR emissions. Well and good if one is clueless that BC isn't doing that right now. Worse lying that Trudeau is trying to stop us. He likes small nuclear reactors and hydro, the 2 most expensive and longest to roll out. Could help a couple decades after anyone plans to actually start. He'll Axr the Tax and give incentives to Green Companies, throw away a revenue source and hand money they no longer have to companies. All for sweeping it under the rug and pretending 'Carbon Capture' somehow reduces emissions. I loved how he suggested "tidal wave" alternatives, demonstrating how little he knows about alternative energy methods. Further proof the Tory plan is no plan at all, the intent is to delay, deny and shovel more of our tax dollars into business incentives, handouts and writeoffs. Helping YOU even less than the environment.
  2. Isee some people have trouble recognizing facetious and sarcastic posts when they go up. Others must think the crowds of Israelis protesting in the streets are antisemites too,. or they're of the opinion that people of country A don't have the right to protests the actions of country B. I say they do, but I'm able to see the futility and stupidity of storming your town's School Board meeting demanding an end to hostilities between 2 groups on the other side of the world....
  3. No, no Eyeball they're the chosen people. Dropping bombs on aid convoys is righteous and holy, you must be an antisemite if you question the actions of Israel's govt. Only the questioning of Russia and China is acceptable.
  4. You really have a sick conception of what govt is. A viewpoint from 150 years ago.
  5. How do you figure that, a "gift"? Social programs are not gifts, they're obligations. You pay taxes, they're for OUR benefit. And not half-assed ones like the medical we've lived with for decades with no dental or pharmacare. Not pay as you go (or borrow) education, tax deductions if you can afford things at all, etc. Not for bureaucrats with mandates ordering them to deny every due benefit.
  6. OMG so awful a govt delivering cash and services back to taxpayers instead of useful things like more laws, cops, jails, tanks and submarines.
  7. Oh come on, you make electricity from anything that moves, heats or cools, from light or radiation, umpteen chemical reactions or gravity. None of which require burning anything. There are natural deposits of free hydrogen too and not very expensive ways to make it, so you're utterly dismissing the idea of fuel cell EVs when there is nothing more efficient. You American? It might surprise you to learn you can make alcohol out of something besides corn too!
  8. If you're confused, it's because LNG can reduce CO2 and other pollution right now, for far less expense and disruption. We knew that 40 years ago when they promoted it because of gas shortages and pollution reduction, we owned 2 propane vehicles, my BIL had a fleet of LNG delivery trucks and his personal car. We're doing it now to get oil & coal fired plants to use LNG. To see results fast and buy a little more time for other alternatives to evolve. Wind & solar are already cheapest. Tidal and geothermal soon will be too. All the yak over small reactors ad thorium are just talk that will take 10-25 years to permit and build and we know we're close to a tipping point now. So take the thumbs out of your ass and DO something.
  9. No he doesn't care for people who don't care about climate change. Not in the least. Most Canadians don't care for people like that either.
  10. Electricity isn't viable is a nonsense statement. As you can produce it from almost anything, and it does not produce CO2 it and hydrogen are favoured. Tell you what the govt is doing: handing back carbon tax rebates to score political points rather than directing that money back to incentives, research and infrastructure. Experts say the tax has reduced CO2 by at least 1%. Could've reduced it way more with incentives extended to buy a simple hybrid vehicle. To expanded transit - there is no more Greyhound option. Exploration credits for lithium and hydrogen deposits. Still shitting on LNG when simple conversions are less than BEV incentives and could instantly reduce emissions on any existing vehicle. I'm interested in results and only support a carbon tax as it does a little rather than nothing at all, which is the only alternative being offered.
  11. Like this, but this time use binoculars for a better view
  12. Ask the outfit in Prince George adding hydrogen injectors, the ones adding hybrids, the companies switching to EV for in town delivery. I'm no tax fanatic unless you're thinking of tax accounting. But I'm also not for simple whining how high they are when they're not. I'm also all in favour of them being in your face like the GST, recycling taxes, etc so you're well aware of them And you can reduce them by buying less or less expensive alternatives. And highly annoyed at the simpleton jingoes to fool simple people like the old "It's a tax on everything" and "23% increase" designed simply to get people to oppose and nothing else. And seeing that no one else has proposed a way to reduce CO2 that does anything better than a carbon tax, and the fact that I know most people have reduced their driving even here where there is no transit alternative and distances are huge. But AFAIC the ranters ranting it costs a buck a week more to drive their 4x4 because they just don't want to take the Skytrain are just obstinate asses.
  13. It will add $18 to delivering a bulldozer 6 years from now. How much per bag is $18 for a truck full of potato chips? SaveOn pulled this shit all the time explaining $1 extra for jugs of milk 20 years ago. Nice simple example for simple people like the use of 23% increase was. IOW it will add a little but barely noticeable overall. And agin, so what. That's the point: to get fossil fuel use to decline including for transport trucks. You think that trucking companies are stubborn asses like most people and just simply refuse to adapt because they don't want to when they're actually always considering their bottom line? They're already adapting to every fuel extending tech out there, always have been.
  14. Gee all the Bible thumpers are against immigration, why not propose something constructive like free Kama Sutras in every home? That would reduce the need for immigrants and give 18 years of time to catch up on housing while they grew up.
  15. Did it make you consider driving less? Then it f*cking worked, didn't it?
  16. More conservative than they already are? Well they're already at the right edge of leaving 'conservative' territory altogether. You're definitely not a 'conservative'. Exactly. Other than criticize the Liberal plan, I've been listening closely for any peep of an alternative plan of action and heard dick. What I have seen clearly is opposition to any and every step involving environmental or climate issues. Oh really? Is Canada Going Marxist? etc? Didn't plan for thing that never happened before ie pandemics and massive forest fires, things not within federal jurisdictions, court rulings?
  17. Oh help us please... we're being oppressed by the people who don't give a shit about what other people believe in.
  18. A good King Trump Edition without the flag licking but includes the entire Ferengi Rules of Acquisition.
  19. The ususal 'we can't fix everything 100% so why even try" response. As if electing Tories and Republicans would do even more about the large emitters that own them lock stock and barrel. Say the mob critical of the miniscule efforts of Liberals and Democrats have made.
  20. I'm trying to say we don't vote for the person, we vote for the platform. So all the talk about the person is irresponsible. I don't "like" any of the current party's choice of leaders but I vote for what the party stands for in their platform. And I'll defend the leaders against stupid accusations*. *Unless it's a Tory... ever since their goose step away from the Progressive Conservative platform they can go to hell.
  21. Gee Cpt Obvious, so what? That many are opposed to any tax increase on anything. You don't want to pay a carbon tax, period. And like all Tories have no alternative climate plan at all.
  22. It can't be considered that one supports the party's policies over another's. It's all about the cult of personality. The only time a party leader ever ran in the riding I lived in I was too young to vote, so I never got a chance to vote for a Prime Minister. Hard to discuss things with people who can't distinguish between a Prime Minister and a King or Emperor.
