As I've not seen one member state they live in Justin's riding I can safely say NOBODY ON THIS BOARD VOTED FOR TRUDEAU You vote for a party or a candidate, so even if you don't like the leader you vote for the party and you're stuck with the leader it chose. Trudeau won because most people found the party they voted for less objectionable than the Tories. So supporting even more objectionable policies the way to get elected?

You're talking about DERA area, not "East Van". Main & Hastings is disusting, always was. $2 million monster homes on Renfrew are East Van as are heritage places around Commercial Dr. Tell you a tale, drove Mom & Aunt (lawyer from Senate in Ottawa) downtown in the 1980s to a restaurant, the Aunt wanted to see Man & Hastings. We're stopped at a light, and four cops muscle this fat native woman out of a bar onto the street. She's shouting F You! and p!ssing herself right beside us. Mom was shocked! Aunt turned and said "Hasn't changed much since the war has it?" IMHO from then to now, it sure has. Shithole doesn't even describe it. not the point of this thread. It's the 'humble' Father Knows Best tone of the interview. Pretends he has no idea what the interviewer is talking about while munching an apple. Dodging each question by questioning the questioner. Works for dimwits who think that's "winning".

So who wins the Darwin's Dirtbag Award? A) the stereotypical racist bugger repeating the 'darkies are pushing us out of our own country" line B) the 16th century puritanical conservative who immediately thinks 13 yrs old instead of 30 when breeding is mentioned? Sit back and watch the contestants fight for the "win".

Battle over Water Rights
herbie replied to impartialobserver's topic in State Politics in the United States
They selling water to Nestle to bottle and sell at a million percent markup? Promoting almond milk thinking they're saving the environment? Like, the huge growth allowed in the middle of the desert is nuts! -
Random Canuck says support for Ukraine and Israel is more important than Hunter Biden and drag queen storytimes? How dare he! Sell more Coca-Cola in Moscow and open a Ford factory in Iran, get back to making money.

Traveling to the middle of nowhere
herbie replied to impartialobserver's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
There's a lot of value. My friends and I would pack Thursday night so we could head out camping as soon as work ended on Friday. You didn't have to go far to escape Vancouver in those days. Still don't need to go too far now. -
Cuz we can just shake= our heads at the nutcase ideas of the other guy and still buy the next round. maybe cuz that's more entertaining than watching the snow fall for 7 months....

Yes the evil Izzra Eeeleys commit war crimes because they're taking on the mighty Hamas Army that's hiding behind hostages and their own civilians. Re-aim a couple missiles targeted at a kibbutz to that Catholic sanctuary and show us how wicked they are.

No shit... I ain't skeptical, I'll speak out and call bullshit when I see it. Only in their tiny, malignant neanderthal minds such a dream exists. The only good thing about the Tories is that Canadians quickly sicken of them and it's rare to manage even 2 terms. And now they've got dumb enough to move even further right thinking that will help.

The Canadians Supporting Trump
herbie replied to Canadian_Cavalier's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Canadians supporting Trump can feel a sense of accomplishment. They're traitors to two countries at the same time. OR They don't just like to rag on Americans for their govt policies, they actually do hate America with a passion. -
You talking about them propping up Skeena sawmills for a couple years so the whole town of Terrace didn't fall in on itself? Yeah that's what and NDP did and will do sometimes. Just like it tried to do with the shipyards down there, but at least the opposition didn't spend the whole time telling the world how shitty and useless lumber was and then pretend it was the other guys fault they sold it for so little.
