The Opioid Toll that Alberta Tried to Hide
herbie replied to herbie's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Some of it created by Pharma. Most of it created by mental health problems - some people have addictive personalities, heroin, meth, alcohol. The small step of decriminalizing will remove the stigma and allow them to be treated as is alcoholism. A medical condition. I lost my own son to an overdose late last year. In the last 25 years the only time he was straight was when he was in jail. He was always in jail for stealing shit to buy drugs. For years he could only find work close to the methadon clinic, pretty damn limiting. Couldn't bring him home as there's zero facilities or help up country. Like many intravenous users (and they don't mention this) he stroked out. No one @ social services did their job and gave a shit, someone brought the drugs he OD'd on into the hospital. Could've been your car he stole, your house he broke into, your store he robbed. Wouldn't it have been better if he could've got a prescription, made your burgers or framed your house and paid taxes? I agree with you on many things. Slam the hammer down on the dealers and importers. Far too many are getting too light a sentence for bringing in fentanyl. Give em life w 25 years AFAIC -

Observe. Pot was illegal until a few years ago. Selling it without a license is still illegal. Possessing small amoujnts of other drugs is no longer prosecuted here in BC. if an agency sold them, it would be able to control the price and quality. Overdose deaths would go down. They're close to zero in safe injection sites. Tha law is the law ( oink, oink! ) is no counter argument, it's the problem. -
Trump going to jail... "so unfair"!

These same people are still defending Trump and his lunatics. Proof they themselves are total dupes. -

Treating the addicts as criminals. Avoiding harm reduction measures and claiming it promotes drug use. The usual old fart knee jerk reactions. -

Sorry, I had to edit because a totally different youtube appeared when I first posted. Must've come from someone elses post you quoted. -
Corn Flakes $8 a box, Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops etc. always on sale for $3 or $4. 2L pop - under $2, Healthy Choice Diet Bottled Tap Water $4 for 593ml. You're on the right track. Today the supermarket had 4 large candy bars for the price of a box of Rice Krispies & Frosted Flakes for less than 2lbs of apples.

Well sane people eventually figure out that when what they've done for 90 years doesn't bloody work, it's time to try something else. Should we still have Prohibition 100 years later too? Your Granpa could learn, why do so many people now simply refuse to learn? -
What the HELL are you talking about? Or were you just itching to post another neocon buzzword 'entitlement' as if it had anything at all to do with the subject at hand?

That's gotta be the dumbest response to the overdose problem I've heard since Nancy Reagan's "Just say NO" to drugs. No insult from me necessary, that Covid comment is you being proud to proclaim that you're an ignoroid. -
So you don't "believe" in evolution either?

for those who can't/won't read: "In late 2020, as Boyle Street and other sites in the province were either being closed or not opened as planned, the Alberta government — without explanation — stopped publicly releasing neighbourhood-level maps produced quarterly by Alberta Health. " That's what they have to do with it.... -
So that's why the rest of the country has never heard dick about the problems in Alberta. Kenny tried to pull a Trump and not report it so that 'it would just go away' like Covid.... https://thetyee.ca/News/2022/07/06/Alberta-Opioid-Toll-By-Neighbourhood/

WTF does the MPs pay have to do with anything else in that post? You want to pay MPs minimum wage so we get ones who can't read a round clock, make change or stare at their phones at work? Or such a deluded Trumpist you think by electing MPs that don't need a paycheque those billionaires will represent your working class ass? The only reason you claim Canada is not a democracy is because you don't like the results of the election.

By "competition" you mean allowing T-Mobile and Verizon in to suck money out of Canada, right? They'd just join the circle jerk and offer an extra Gig for a dollar more or vice versa. Just like every ad from every carrier offering UNLIMITED access with a limit on the next line in small print. Nobody's even called them out over that!

More like the cleaning lady accidentally pulled out the plug on their main DLink they bought at WalMart so she could plug in the vacuum.

OMG just go back to the same thing? The point is, the majority of voters didn't see it as the big issue that you do or JT would have lost the election. Democracy isn't your opinion, it's the majority's opinion and obviously they don't share yours. Learn what democracy is and how gov't works or you sound like those convoy imbeciles whining about their freedumb.

School Boards Promoting Homosexuality?
herbie replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
A 7 yr old was visiting my daughter and stayed for dinner. She mentioned that her Mommy had never told her where babies come from, so the ex answered that the stork brought them. My daughter guffawed, spat her food and said "more like the DORK brings them!". The ex was shocked. We live on a farm Mum! You gonna tell her the horses and cows and pigs are just kissing out there too? That's why they teach about sex in school. Most parents don't yet blare constantly that only they should.- 479 replies

Look, your Justin hatred just pointed out two things petty. He got re-elected after the SNC scandal so that was minor to most people, and far more people were pissed at him for taking so fucking long to enact the Emergency powers than are pissed about it. And feel free to point out a country that's more democratic. Certainly isn't the one owned lock stock and barrel by billionaires that openly flaunt their power. And we get a PM with so little personal power he/she would be the Diet Pepsi of demagogues.

Conservative Leadership September 10th
herbie replied to Jack9000's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Jeez you guys think you're conservatives but you forgot everything about economics and yap ONLY about social issues. Yeah Mulroney was the GST guy. The tax consumerism instead of income idea, you know like every damn country in the world besides the morons to the South. And Harper's stupidest move was dropping it to 5% months before there was a mini-recession. Like fucking two cents helped us out oh so much. But what the hell, a little over a decade later, here's the same conservative crowd whining over two cents in Carbon tax when Big Oil is hosing us over a dollar more than the last time oil was at this price. So enjoy you two cents worth.
