This forum need a couple more moderators who can delete posts, ban users & their IPs. It also needs to be set so new members must reply to a few posts before they can post links, images or start new threads. All those controls are in the Invision settings.... and it still won't stop the spam. I hosted a few forums on my old server bank and ran a few myself. I gradually booted and closed the all, they're just too much trouble to maintain w/o active moderator help.

Yep. Communism is bad, mmmmkay? And he listened. We just sold the summer cabin, nothing wrong with owning one. Where I'd agree with cougar is if you own 2 residential homes and one sits empty. That's how the Empty Homes Tax came about. If you rent them out, own as many as you can. When we bought our first home in 1983 the BC gov't was handing out a $5000 First Time Home Buyer's Grant - that doubled our down payment. Now you'd PAY the BC gov't $30,000 in 'transfer tax' to buy a $1M home in the Lower Mainland. Almost as much as I bought the place I now live in 10 years ago. Get outa the fucking city FFS!

None! Like I said, as the fact is, they're not appointed on the basis of their politics. Even if you're only capable of seeing a ruling as 'liberal' you're assuming that harsh sentences and punishment must be conservative values. And yeah that is from a lifetime of observation that the loudest conservatives at the root of it believe someone must be punished for not following what they personally decide is right.

Canada Must Exit Climate Agreement Immediately
herbie replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If you think I'm a climate extremist you have never actually met one. You should try going outside and talking to real people sometime. I can only conclude: A: you own a massive amount of Oil shares B: you're ignorant all the way down to your bones and believe anyone who so much as gives a shit about the environment is your enemy ? you only post to this forum to troll and be contrary and obnoxious as you realize you have nothing intelligent to contribute- 386 replies

Trump going to jail... "so unfair"!
herbie replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Much rather he choked on a KFC chicken bone and all his closest friends try injecting Clorox and horse dewormer in vain... -
Goes for you too.

We don't have "Liberal" courts. Judges are appointed for their knowledge of law, not their politics. You may not like their decisions, but they're based on law. That's why they're Judges and you're not.

Canada Must Exit Climate Agreement Immediately
herbie replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The extremists are, not most of us. Just like the extremists on the other side are posting nonstop on everything wrong with EVs, wind and solar as if they can never be solved. That's where 'Can'tservative' comes from, acting like humans are too stupid to solve problems. Like posting that some country "only" gets 40% of it's energy from Green sources - as if that's a failure.- 386 replies

Canada Must Exit Climate Agreement Immediately

Climate deniers in 2022 are either blind and deaf (not dumb - that means can't speak and they do nothing but bellow at the top of their lungs) or willfully ignorant. Quoting a 3% disagree figure from 20 years ago, scouring the dregs of the Internet or simply making up things to seem like they know more than dick shit. I'm sure they could dig up facts that prove gravity is a lie or a conspiracy if the Illuminati given enough time. And it's not Jobs OR the Environment. I heard that shit 50 years ago and too many of us listened. There is no black OR white, night OR day, good OR bad. It's only the hard core Can'tservative that claims 90% effective is no good because it's not 100% so we shouldn't try at all.- 386 replies

The Opioid Toll that Alberta Tried to Hide
herbie replied to herbie's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Big Pharma caused a lot of it by stating minimal risks and pushing doctors to prescribe opioids. BC just won a huge settlement against one. My buddy had a problem years ago... he's still using them. I have no doubt if he didn't have the fall back of that unethical doctor in Alberta, he'd either be in rehab or looking for street replacements. His old lady had knee surgery a year ago and still pissing and moaning about pain. Candidate in the waiting. Another friend took a bullet in VietNam and decided morphine made him dul and stupid. He lost a leg a couple years ago and told his doctor to shove the morphine after a couple weeks and uses gummies if the pain really upsets him. When I had severe arthritis in my back my doctor told me no oxys. How could I maintain their computers if I was zonked out of my head. Exactly what I thought! But many of us aren't like that. The slightest discomfort or stress and off they go popping pills. I was married to one for 20 years. Skip work, pop Valium and chug a six pack while she was 'studying', ignore the kids and tell them they were the cause of it if they pointed out her habits... Like I said, a lot of people are like that, Way more than most of us suspect. They're hidden out of sight in their homes and apartments, or just functional enough we don't look too hard. -
Leave the keys on the bankers desk and drive away out of town. That's what a couple friends did when Mackenzie collapsed in the 1980s. 3 kids and everything you could fit into or strap onto a Ford Escort and off to Vancouver. Those 18% mortgages were a bitch. Both of us had full time union jobs and didn't have two nickels left to rub together. No furniture - people had to bring their own chairs to our first house warming party. Futon on the bedroom floor, Sally Ann kitchen table.... no one will do that these days. They want it all, right now.

A great reset might be a good thing. Somebody should shut the Earth's power switch to OFF. count to 10 and flip it ON again. It works for most other things.

YOU (the general public) can't, the PM's party can. Just ask Boris... The Flu Trucks Clan are the inspiration? The Canadian Diet Pepsi of Jan. 6th? More like the other way around, same ilk. Same level of political ignorance. Same save our freedom by undemocratic overthrow of the government. Same belief in utter lies. Same hypocrites who worried about Communists violently overthrowing the gov't in the 1950s-60s.

The Opioid Toll that Alberta Tried to Hide
herbie replied to herbie's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I thought for years that the overdose crisis was a self-solving problem. Surely after several years they'd all OD and die off, Darwinian style. But both of us were wrong, there's a hell of a lot more drug users than I ever estimated and I was a full blown 1960s-70s pothead. Now they're doing meth and opioids like we smoked joints. Goddam house down the street just had 2 hauled away by the Coroner - ppl in their 40s. A friend is moving back to Albera, supposedly because of the shitty level of health care in this small town. Truthfully, because no doctor here will ever give a prescription fore more than a few oxys. The guy goes back to AB all the time as a doctor there give him 6 month scrips. He even popped a couple over dinner the other night because "his foot was feeling numb". He had his major surgery over a dozen years ago and his been on them since. Like the whole guy is numb. I'm one of his few friends as no one else has the patience for him to spit out a complete sentence. He's 64 and he's an addict, but would never admit it. -
And the more the Cons pander to their extreme right, the more voters they drive away. Just like when Harper loosened his grip and let the moron candidates explode in anti-immigrant rage and it got Trudeau his first win.
-
You're living in fear say the ones scared of needles. O'Toole was too liberal... keep it up righty loonies and Trudeau will be PM forever. Lose one more election and the PC will re-form their old party so people like me might actually consider them as a choice. Hell maybe their worst fear will come true: a Liberal-NDP-Green coalition.
-
Your discussing housing crisis with people who think Trudeau personally decides what you can have for breakfast? Don't waste your time pointing out facts. They all seem to have slept through Social Studies 10 and have no idea how Parliamentary democracy works or what a PM can and can't and does do. So long as they can post some meaningless Trudeau hate comment on the Internet you can think of it like Stephen Harper did, let his lunatic fringe blow off steam with unconstitutional daily Crime Bills while he got on with running the government.

No one replied to that post as it is so disgusting nobody thought you were worth replying to. That clearly was a example of hate speech which is disallowed by all hosting providers in Canada and major ones in the USA. Don't screw things up for everyone else by continuing your selfish hate diatribes. That and the fact you're promoting the worst stereotype of American Free Speech promoters. Your First Amendment doesn't protect you from the rotten tomatoes that get thrown at you.

Just keep posting this shit and you'll see what happens. The web host will block the site for violating it's Terms of Service. Unfortunately for outright racists, Freedom of Speech is interpreted differently in the civilized world.

Work from home. One thing that's a huge issue these days as a hell of a lot of people don't want to return to the office. A niece who normally works from home asked if she could visit someone in N California and he boss said if she brought her laptop and continues to work, it didn't matter if she was at the other end of town or California. If they'd get the damn rural internet to proper standards, that would make one hell of an improvement to where you could afford to live. If you got more people into smaller towns, there'd be more incentive to move businesses. And like I said to another niece 20 years ago, why open a coffee shop down the block from your cousin and try to compete for that nickle when they're building a University in Prince George where you could charge $1 more for that cappuccino and they'd be so grateful to have one they'd kiss your ass? There's people retiring and trying to unload shops, retail outlets, cafes, notaries, bookkeepers and nobody wants to move and take them over. Add on the fact most of these places are so under serviced there's major market potential. All these people taking on a $1 million home and hoping working for someone else will cover it, FFS they could get a house AND a viable business for even less than that. But waaah there's no choice of nightclub, too far to cross border shop and it gets cold wah wah!

Do open that up, it's 75% of the problem. The other big problem is people with too much money that will pay far more than something's worth just to have it and the ones that will borrow that much to overpay.
