  1. You cut Mulroney some slack, yet Trudeau the elder was the one that was dealing with 2 recessions and interest rates 5-10 points higher than Mulroney. I think your bias has nothing to do with international events, it is all about your partisan leanings.
  2. I only have to go to #1 on your list to see it is complete fabrication. Donald Trump did steal my (American taxpayer) money by not paying his taxes. He has caused my taxes to increase. Donald Trump is a thief.
  3. Yes, Google must be messing with the search algorithm. I type 'delusional candidate' and up comes Trump. I type 'bigot', and after a couple of definitions up pops Trump. 'orange idiot', what do you know? 'tax disclosure lie', yet again the Donald is front and centre.
  4. Do you not see the absurdity of those two posts, especially so close together?
  5. Let's make it a trinity.
  6. Google apps is now called G Suite. I can just image all the jokes around that one.

  7. Rules of engagement state that it is valid to mention Harper for at lest another 33 years. American rules are even longer, as Kennedy and FDR are frequent targets of the right wing.
  8. At least we don't delude ourselves into thinking Trump represents a choice. He will be more, even more, way more, a hell whole lotta more, of the same class warfare by the elite against the majority.
  9. I wonder if I should take one of those DNA test and see if I have any native blood in these veins. I can only trace back definitively to my great grandparents, one of which is a European import; the other 7 were born in Canada. Some of the roots in the family tree trace back at least another 5 generations, and if all roots were around here that long that leave over 500 possibilities for someone to have shacked up with a native. It certainly has not been a problem with the current generation, I have 2 first cousins and 1 uncle that married natives, not including my brother in-law. My main goal of course is to see if I can draw poggie, just to get under the skin of some of my fellow posters.
  10. I came from Quebec, but have spent significant time (at least 5-6 months) in 6 provinces and some time in the other 4. I am seriously thinking about moving to Manitoba or Saskatchewan for a couple of years to get that perspective. While I have spent several years in the Atlantic provinces, sadly Nova Scotia was mostly something I passed through with the exception of about a week I was there when I was 8. I have yet to see the northern territories, although I have spent a lot of time in northern Europe including several weeks above the arctic circle.
  11. Red lakes and rivers are common around the world. Generally it is caused by Chromatiaceae bacteria. When there are droughts and water levels lower, often fish will die off and their decomposing remains will deplete the lakes of oxygen providing an ideal environment for the bacteria to thrive. I have no idea what is happening in China specifically, but I wouldn't outright discount a natural cycle.
  12. Am I allowed to wear white pants this weekend if I only wore shorts all summer? I am confused about Canadian values, it seems that despite my asking several times in this thread we have no consensus on what they are. Maybe we all need to follow Rex, because he knows them when he sees them.
  13. Let's see, the green energy policy put a 4-5% higher cost onto electricity consumed (small part of manufacturing), and the inflated dollar put a 50% higher cost onto the end product. Not sure where you took math, but 4-5% of say 10-20% is way, way less than 50% of the final item.
  14. There you go, cover all your bases. Liberals bad because they approved Liberals bad because they put in conditions Liberals bad because they are left (handed) Liberals bad because they are right handed Liberals bad because....
  15. Thank you for that deep insight. You are obviously an expert with all the answers, and not a racist.
  16. His single minded focus on selling oil (which he failed at miserably) decimated our manufacturing sector, and when the dollar finally returned to normal it was too late to rebuild.
  17. I don't know how far off topic one can drift, but this one takes the cake. It is a cement plant, not a concrete plant. b.t.w., that 6 billion litres was flushed away 10 months ago. That is the equivalent of about 15 minutes of river flow, not to mention that the majority of it was fresh water anyway.
  18. Your secret is safe with us Premier Clark.
  19. and yet the police are investigating because there is something odd about this case (they haven't released the details) to cause them to believe there might be more here than a drunk falling into the river. How many cases are dismissed because some knee jerk reaction (mark it up to a drunken Indian) by a beat cop? If you are in a position of responsibility, and make ill informed comments in the public space, don't cry like a baby when your biases are exposed.
  20. I don't believe the feds have ever invoked notwithstanding, but several of the provinces have (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Yukon). Note there are limits on its use. First the legislation must be within the jurisdiction of that government (as Alberta found out when they tried to block same sex marriages), and there is a five year limit. Although technically the clause can be reinvoked on the same matter multiple times, history has shown that the province will change their legislation as Quebec did with the language laws.
  21. Absolutely, any analogy that points out the problem with your 'logic' must be wrong. The person who proposed that analogy must be frothing mentally ill. I get it. Time for a new entry in the Encyclopedia.
  22. Since you bring up former New Jersey Court Andrew P. Napolitano, why did't you also repeat what he said about the debate? I thought she clobbered him. It wasn't even close. These debates are won or lost not on debating points but general impressions. The impression was that she controlled the ball, he was on the defensive, and he utterly failed to address the perception she is unworthy of trust... I don't think he was prepared. Since I know some of the people that were preparing him, some are here and probably went in one ear and out the other. He thought he would win this debate the way he won the primary debate. She was poised, charming, intelligent and for the first time, likable.
  23. Yes, that is the argument for moving to renewable energy. I'm all for leaving it in the ground. All hydrocarbons release methane during the mining/drilling, transportation, and even some due to incomplete combustion. While natural gas has the highest methane content, the infrastructure is designed to capture it. Coal mining for example releases huge amounts of methane with almost zero capture. Crude drilling used to release a lot of methane, but it has been getting better at capture. Location is irrelevant. If we are offsetting coal with LNG, the net methane released should be lower.
  24. you must have failed high-school chemistry. You realize the reasons for those flares are to ensure the methane does not get released into the atmosphere.
