  1. http://www.thestar.com/news/cityhallpolitics/article/1167481--city-councillor-brainstorming-session-to-include-road-tolls Lots of questions about how this is going to work. 1) and 1a) Video or Toll Booth? Will installing Video Toll sensors cost more than it's worth? 2) What's going to stop someone to get off the highway and use Lakeshore or Yonge? 3) Why isn't Toronto raising property taxes to raise this money? 4) Will this be a congestion charge for Rush hour or a 24/7 thing so if people want to come in during the weekend they'd be dinged too? 5) You guys know this'll work both ways right? Nothing stopping Vaughan and Mississauga for dinging anyone trying to leave the city. Oh and the International Airport is in Mississauga. 6) How much will the toll be? I don't go to Toronto much I just don't see how it's workable and I don't see how Toronto will make a lot of money from this.
  2. You only see them once in the first 4 episodes.
  3. Well the success of The Walking Dead has made the actual Comic it's based on really crappy, as of late. I hear the third book is the best of the series so far and it's going to be impossible to make it into one season. So he has 4 or 5 years to finish two books. 2 seasons for the third book and you can assume a year for each of the remaining 3 books.
  4. Season Two has been really good. Arya's storyline has been the most compelling so far. Rat/Bucket/Chest/Fire torture? Did Martin think that up on his own? Hope Dick Cheney wasn't watching. Midget is bad ass. I'm glad we're finally moving forward with the Hot Blonde with the dragons.
  5. I know you're a Dipper and you probably think you can't get much further right than the current CPC. But the CPC has done an excellent job trying to be a big-tent party that steals from the centre. See the Liberals dropping to 31 seats, many of which were taken by the CPC in Ontario. I wasn't politically aware when the Mulroney PCs where in power, but from what I hear, they really weren't that Conservative at all.
  6. That's totally hypothetical and likely will never happen unless the CPC move too far to the left again making a grassroots movement rise up and try to replace them. The Harris Conservatives were technically PC but, The Ontario PCs were closer to to the Alliance or Reform than they were the Federal PCs, at the time.
  7. Yeah I think 7 months into their "mandate" might be too early to go back to the polls but in the coming year there isn't much that'll make Dalton look more appealing to the public. In a year when the 2013 budget is up for debate the NDP will ask for more and if Dalton keep bending to them he'll lose support from the right of his party. Bending to the NDP didn't work for Paul Martin for very long, won't help McDalton either.
  8. I think this result shows how dangerous polls can be. Basically Albertans were being told who they support by pollsters. Now they clearly didn't fall for it, but I'm tired of polls leading the narrative in elections to the point were people call the election before its even happened. I heard a pollster this morning justify this by saying Albertans clearly changed their mind in the polling booth.
  9. Perhaps, They could call them something like . . . Speakeasies.
  10. He'll get the Order of Canada for killing an American.
  11. The Paul Martin Liberals did something similar this with Jack Layton. Got defeated soon after.
  12. So it looks like McDalton rolled over on much of Horvath's demands the big one being 2% tax hike on people making $500,000 plus. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1166296--ontario-budget-mcguinty-and-horwath-in-last-ditch-talks-to-prevent-election?bn=1 No Election for Ontario. I don't see how the OLP lasts another year though. How is a similar budget going to pass next year. Horvath will simply ask for more.
  13. That actually seems like a redundant service since, at least here in Ontario, there are employment centres that help people find work funded by the Province.
  14. Agreed but the OP question was if Canada has a water shortage problem. It would appear we don't. Lack of rain isn't a good thing and people should conserve water in those times. But to think that Canadians are running out of water is hilarious.
  15. They have tried to win. They just keep failing. I'm sure Brian Burke isn't in this for just the money.
  16. I believe if you drink to the point where you are no longer able to walk people will bother you.
  17. I don't think anyone goes to a sporting event because of the alcohol. It's just a byproduct of it. The price of the beer at any professional sports arena is reason enough not to drink at sporting events. But there are bars where people can have their fill outside the arena as well.
  18. The truth is, if people who have season's tickets now stop going there'll be a lineup of people willing to take those tickets. Leafs games are more of a business expense than anything else. But then you see what happens when they go down the QEW to play the Sabres and those games look like Leaf games. I've heard Sabre fans pay for their season's tickets by selling tickets to the Leaf games to Leaf fans. The Leafs were on the road to a decent playoff spot up until the Allstar break and they fell a part. That's two years in a row they've done that. I'm not sure what the answer is with them though.
  19. One of your ChiSox Pitchers got a Perfecto game. The Royals is just what the struggling Blue Jays needed. Let's hope they can go to Baltimore and win some games. Santos is on the 15-day DL. Cordero isn't that great a Closer.
  20. Yeah because 20,000 people don't assemble to drink alcohol anytime a major professional sporting event happens.
  21. I find it interesting how he mocks the 22-year maximum sentence. I wouldn't be surprised if he does the exact same thing if he ever sees freedom again.
  22. Tampa won a Cup, so did Gordon Bombay and the Mighty Ducks. Carolina beat a very popular Oilers team. The Leafs have the best fans on earth and they can't even make the playoffs. This issue isn't isolated to just hockey. The Florida Marlins have two World Series' since they've existed while the Chicago Cubs are a century plus without a World Series.
  23. Toronto must be a very stupid place then. Wait you guys got Dalton McGuinty elected. That's a given.
  24. Don't know where you got that info. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1165754--ontario-budget-ndp-s-horwath-wants-more-from-mcguinty-before-backing-budget?bn=1 Horvath is demanding more from McDalton.
