  1. I'm sure they had to sign a waiver to appear in the commercial. Just like with any form of "Reality TV" Apparently those idiots on Cops every week sign a waiver to show them being arrested. If I was one of those guys I'd be thrilled at the experience, I wouldn't be looking for a payout.
  2. I don't know who watched the Super Bowl in Canada but there was this really cool ad where guys in a Beer League got "Flash Mobbed" Basically 600 fans showed and announcers started calling the game as if it was a big deal. Pretty cool stuff. Well Actra Toronto is pissed. http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/919673/budweiser-canada-is-not-the-king What's next? Demanding union wages to appear on the nightly news?
  3. McDalton doesn't have the guts to do this. It'll piss off a lot of parents. Even Hudak realized that scrapping this would be unpopular and backed off during the election campaign. But to say that 4-year-olds need unionized teachers to teach them how to take naps and play outside is pretty wasteful.
  4. I'm not sure why the Ford Bros think it's either 100% of our plan or stfu on this issue. It doesn't appear to be some horrible compromise. They're getting their way on most of the agenda here. But every small defeat makes people think he's losing control of the city.
  5. My wife and I have been enjoying Bomb Girls. I like WW2 content a lot. It's a show about women at a munitions factory. And it's Can Con not produced by the CBC. It's a success and will get a second season. The first season was only 6 episodes. http://www.globaltv.com/bombgirls/index.html http://www.torontosun.com/2012/02/07/bomb-girls-to-get-second-season
  6. The Costa Concordia is a symbol for anyone who doesn't like a certain group of politicians. I've hear people compare the Republican field and Obama to the idiot captain too.
  7. Well that's a somewhat ignorant opinion. There are Liberal columnists in the Sun papers and Sun News has Liberal guests on its panel shows. The late day commentators are pretty much all conservative but they cover the news just like most outlets.
  8. It's pretty close but I'd still have given a defacto Extra-Point while only giving Brady less than 30 seconds to get into FG range over getting a TD on that play and giving Brady 57 yards to score.
  9. Those sports aren't time related. I'm sure if you're up 5 rounds in a boxing match you're certainly going to play conservatively and not allow the opponent to knock you out. In Hockey if you're up 2 goals with 2 minutes left you put on your checking line, you don't put your snipers out there. In Basketball when you have the lead at the end of game you're not doing a full-court press and trying to get up the court as fast as you can, you run down the shot clock before you make a play. Should Football teams be airing it out with a minute left with the lead because that's the way the game should be played?
  10. How is it any different from kneeling down at the end of the game to run down the clock? Tom Coughlin should have called the play that if they let him score, don't score.
  11. Sorta like how Belicheat told his defense to let Bradshaw score? Eli told Bradshaw not to score during the handoff to it was hard for him to stop his instinct to score with all that momentum. Keep in mind, I believe it was 2nd down and the Pats had no timeouts. The Giants could have run 30 odd seconds off the clock on 3rd down before trying to score a TD on the one. Then a kick that's essentially an extra point if that run failed. kneeling down at the one was certainly giving them the best shot at winning in that circumstance.
  12. Thanks Giselle. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2012/02/06/gisele-budnchen-blames-husband-tom-bradys-receivers-for-super-bowl-loss/ Please post pics.
  13. The ball was also clearly underthrown. From what I've seen about the Pats, long passes like that aren't their game. Lots of throws underneath to their two TE's and Welker. A 20 or so yard pass to 85 was their longest pass of the game, I belive. That's why I was pretty confident even though Brady is amazing that he had very little chance of moving the team down the field with a minute left at the end of the game.
  14. The Great Tom Brady is 0-2 again Eli Manning in Super Bowls. Big mistakes by the Pats down the stretch. How does Wes Welker miss that play at the Giants 20? That INT Brady threw was Brutal. Gronk almost had that Hail Mary. I bet Bradshaw would have been seen as a goat had the Pats won because he failed to kneel at the one when Belicheat told everyone to let him in.
  15. Wow they made a deal. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1126534--city-and-outside-workers-reach-tentative-agreement?bn=1
  16. One would hope they'll get a decent package as well. I seriously doubt that, unless they have some specialized trade skills, they'd get similar paying jobs. In Ontario anyway.
  17. There's a difference between giving back a few dollars an hour and a few of the generous bennies you were used to and cutting your salary in half. The morale for even the best workers would have been horrible.
  18. I never said the Ravens were better. But they came within a Lee Evans drop from winning the game. Tom Brady even said he played very poorly that game, no wait he said he "sucked". Sure it's more damning to the Ravens that they blew the game and the Giants did need OT and two very bad Special Teams plays to beat the Niners. As I said the game should be close but I think it's a very good match up for the Giants against the Patriots. Another factoid I'm sure was mentioned at some point on FO.com; The Ravens were the first team the 2011 Pats beat with a winning (regular season only) record.
  19. Are we still debating whether the Jack Layton death letter was in poor taste or not? http://www.straferight.com/photopost/data/500/medium/double-facepalm.jpg
  20. If statistics were the most important benchmark for great QB's then where do you put someone like Dan Marino in comparison to Eli? I never said Eli would have a better legacy than Peyton if he won tomorrow but it would be a lot closer. Especially if Peyton can't re-gain his greatness due to this neck problem he has suffered from this past year. When you think of the teams Peyton has brought into the playoffs and failed to even make it to the Super Bowl let alone win it. In the one season Peyton did win a title he benefited from an immense meltdown by the Patriots that year and played a Bears team that had a QB that recently had to fight for a starting job with something called John Beck in Washington. There has to be intangibles that stats don't show when you consider legacy. Eli might have suffered from some average regular seasons but he's shown to be a terrific playoff QB.
  21. Actually I'm laughing at the idea of a Re-deployment provision. (see the Toronto Labour situation) I made that post before I realized what was being proposed. You can't expect people making $34/hour which I do think is a bloated wage to go down to $16. I don't blame the union for not bending to these demands. It's clear CAT's motive was to close the plant in the first place.
  22. It's interesting, when you consider how much the prices of products have dropped in recent years. You can make a decent living on a lot less. It's a lot to have a decent life in the US as opposed to Canada.
  23. Probably by paying their workers $16/hour. $16/hour in Indiana where I read the work for this plant is going is a livable wage. Check how much real estate is in that state. However I do understand that a 50% wage cut isn't something ideal for the Union to bend to. I can see that they'd rather lose those jobs than allow their members to work for wages reduced to that extent.
