  1. They have a 3-stage re-opening plan. After proceeding to each stage you give 3 weeks to review the data to ensure there are no spike. The details on Stage 3 are still fuzzy. I suspect we'll get something next week. If you want to play the long game on this. We'll have to see what happens into the Fall and Winter. That's when the virus came back last year.
  2. Now is not the time for arrogance in the face of the COVID-19 Delta Variant. The UK sees 30,000 daily cases and a 40% rise in Hospitalizations. Their vaccination rate is comparable.

      “People are enjoying the summer.”

As long as they maintain social distance and avoid interaction.

No gym, hockey rink or swimming pool, which is something many elderly need for their health. People with diseases like fibromyalgia. People who are handicapped. Even children who are mentally disabled and need to interact.

But good mews is Dr. Tam days we will soon be allowed to give another person a hug.

      When she says it’s ok.

Public Swimming Pools, Parks and Outdoor Recreational Facilities are open.

I suspect you're not as outdoors as you say you are.

Only outdoor facilities are open, of which there are few available and those that are open have limited capacity.

I suspect things are completely fine for you, as they are for me. But they aren't for many others.

Meantime these people can find all kinds of reasons to tell us what we are not allowed to do anymore. Health security enforcement

  3. Nor is Defund the Police a Federal initiative or anything Biden has every pledged support for. Their spin is that voting against a funding Bill does more to Defund the Police than anything the Dems has ever done.
  4. In some countries. Germany and Italy still had restrictions. The COPA America is being played in front of empty stadiums in Brazil.
  5. It seems Ontario has the pandemic under control. 200,000+ vaccinations a day will get 9-10 million fully vaccinated by the end of the Month. But the Delta variant is a concern. You want to stamp it out. Last year we saw low case counts because it was the Summer. But once School started up again, we saw a second and third wave. Will teachers be forced to get vaccinated and, if so, will teachers demand that students that can get vaccinated should. Otherwise they have to do virtual learning. Vaccinating children and public servants will be the next battlefield in this pandemic. We still have 10% of the population that refuses to get vaccinated.
  6. From what I hear no. Yesterday they waived the 14-day quarantine for Fully vaxxed people, but not children.
  7. Why is this a thread and not a status update? It'll be interesting what they'll do for children that can't get a vaccine.
  8. I never claimed that. Though 45 plus temperatures in BC is rather alarming, it would be an outlier if it wasn't part of a larger trend of drought. There are plenty of trends and not outliers that indicate a warming of the climate. https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/ten-signs-global-warming
  9. It suggest this summer is part of a larger trend. How's this cite? https://www.nbcnews.com/news/weather/drought-here-stay-western-u-s-how-will-states-adapt-n1270248 You can't prove causation due to lack of forest management. That's just a theory to dismiss climate factors.
  10. Cite dramatic climate change over the course of decades and not millennia.
  11. Over thousands of years. Now we're seeing loss of glaciers in a matter of decades.
  12. First link also notes trends of drought in the past 20 years. Not just predicting. Second link: You can't prove causation for forest management is the issue. But you can correlate drier weather to more forest fires.
  13. You just claimed human industrialization hasn't contributed to climate change. That's 100% an opinion not supported by fact.
  14. So when do outliers become trends? Like western droughts or perpetual forest fire seasons? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/drought-western-united-states-modern-history/ https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/infographic-wildfires-and-climate-change
  15. Hottest place would indicate it regularly gets this hot. It doesn't!
  16. So you're using THIS heatwave to justify your opinion? From your link. The average temperatures.
  17. Or you could just look up the fact the average Summer temperature doesn't go past 25 degrees. https://en.climate-data.org/north-america/canada/british-columbia/lytton-12126/
  18. It may take less if people whine when governments try to incentivize green behaviour and penalize carbon intensive behaviour.
  19. Thanks OftenTrump. Does Forrest Management make a normally temperate area of the country hotter than Dubai?

  21. Who you voting for?
  22. US Olympic Hammer Thrower protest National Anthem.

Many calls for her to be removed from the Olympic Team. . . from people who decry Cancel Culture.

There is a time and a place for protest. And that time and place is not when wearing someone's uniform and representing that group or organization. Protest on your own time.

      Or get Cancelled?

This only highlights the hypocrisy in the Cancel Culture narrative. Freedom of Speech is not Freedom from Consequences.

Yeah, that's crap. Do you work for a living? Go to work and start protesting in front of the customers. See how long you're employed.

It's like all those moron sports players not seeming to understand people pay a lot of money to go to a sports game to escape from the normal reality of culture wars and politics and they don't want a bunch of overpaid athletes yanking them back into that reality.

Protest on your own damned time. If you're wearing the uniform of a country and represent it you have no business protesting against it. Strip the uniform off and boot them from the group. Then they can protest to their heart's content.

But that's different from going after someone who said or did something on his own, finding out where they work and then demanding they be fired.

  23. Such a hero. Front-line workers should be the first in line to get a vaccine.
