  1. Don't believe governments? Then educate yourself on peer reviewed studies. From your article
  2. And there has been zero examples of causal death due to an mRNA vaccine. So you have to retreat to the tired rhetoric of long term chronic side effects. By that metric, no vaccine would ever be used, because "Who Knows?!" I feel people that peddle that narrative are the real scourge to society. Like the the Jude Law character in Contagion who peddled a fake natural remedy and then told people not take the vaccine. The same type of people who believe the Earth is Flat and the US was behind 911.
  3. So the benchmark for believing that the Covid-19 pandemic is real is independently verifying ICU figures? That's hilarious. I don't think anyone thinks COVID-19 will go away at this point. The goal, for most, would be to have it be endemic in society. You can get a variant, but your vaccination or previous infection means you barely notice. You certainly don't die unless you have some serious co-morbidities. As for vaccine alarmists. I pity you people for thinking that vaccines are such a danger. You'd much prefer a world where Measles and Smallpox are still a real threat to the majority of the world.
  4. The Variants did cause caseloads and hospitalizations not seen, at any point, during the Pandemic for Ontario. And we've been in a "lockdown" since April. I concede no one's really enforcing the lockdown but it's still the government's position. People credit Quebec with getting through the campaign. They've had curfews for a good chunk of this pandemic. People couldn't be on the street if they didn't have a reason. It's seems Ontario's biggest sin was not being all in on one side or the other.
  5. So you don't buy the narrative that variants effected things. We spent all of last year thinking that this disease was a disease that mostly effected old people and if young people got it, they could spread it, but unless there was some co-morbidity, you'd be fine. This led to frantically getting older people vaccinated and protecting older populations that, by and large, could already isolate themselves. But when variants hit, it was the young people working front-line essential jobs in densely populated areas that led to the spread. The ICUs were filling up with younger working people and not old people in LTC homes.

  7. We can compare with the best on vaccination? Now 2nd in the G7 for first dose vaccination rate. Asian cultures seem way more compliant in the face of public health measures. That being said, Japan may see the Olympics cancelled or postponed again because of a recent outbreak.
  8. I do know that many other places in the US and Europe had to implement triage protocols. Something Ontario did avoid. I can't imagine the cost to families of these "long-hauler" COVD-19 patients in the US where Healthcare isn't guaranteed. It's no surprise their death rate is more than double ours.
  9. Obtained a black market haircut on the weekend. It is really a weird world we live in where you can buy Cannabis OnDemand but I have to arrange a haircut and pay cash.

You make it sound like we shouldn’t be allowed to buy cannabis on demand.

Never said that. It's just a crazy world we live in where finding someone to cut your hair is like finding a drug dealer.

  10. The same thing has happened in just about every country where COVID-19 has gotten a foothold. I suspect you don't know the severity of an ICU bed. You essentially go there to be kept alive.
  11. The fact that over half of Ontario ICU beds were filled with people Variants of COVID-19 probably doesn't convince you. Because you question those number in the first place. You have to have some baseline trust in government figures. It would be a bit easier to manage if COVID was more deadly than it is. People we die quick and not spread it and take up Hospital resources. This is probably why SARS petered out in 2003. In Ontario we're just waiting for people on Ventilators to die or recover so the Healthcare system can recover from the 3rd wave. 60% of Canadian adult have had at least one dose of the vaccine. If it was that dangerous we'd know about it. A vast majority of adults I know got the vaccine. Short of some expected side-effects (some worse than others) none have reported any long lasting issues with the vaccine.
  12. I don't want to let the insanity of that post go by without a response. But how do you debate someone who refuse to believe the COVID-19 pandemic is real?
  13. 3 days of 1,100 new cases. It's weird how these numbers plateau for a few days then drop. It seems to work the same way going up. I guess it's a factor that the numbers we get aren't people testing positive that day. It's at least a day or two later so the reporting is far from real time positive results. At this rate, if Victoria Day doesn't produce a bump, we'll be under 1,000 cases by June.
  14. Well in Toronto this must seem like 6 months of pure COVID-19 hell. But other parts of the Province have lived with COVID-19 restrictions and relative freedom. Compliance will not last much longer. People are getting vaccinated. They can't get their second dose yet, so moving the goalposts to that point will only cause outrage and mistrust in the entire system.
  15. Right now all personal care is closed and could be closed until July. That needs to change. People are looking for black market haircuts and pedicures. At the very minimum outdoor dining needs to start up again. It's beyond depressing seeing all these renovated patios stay empty. Modest indoor dining can come later. Non-Essential Retail needs to re-open. You can't buy socks right now, unless you buy it online and pick it up in a parking lot. What's more irksome is the messaging of what you "can" and "can't" do. Unless police are willing to enforce outdoor gatherings that don't include massive parties. They can, quite frankly, STFU about what people can and can't do. Especially if those people have been vaccinated.
  16. 2 straight days with around 1,100 new cases. If this trend continues the pandemic will be well in-hand weeks before the provinces "re-opening" plan, and even then it'll take 6-weeks to further re-open. If the numbers continue to drop at this rate, we better see some more broad opening before June 14th.

The panel was convened recently and will sit three days a week for six months.

Nice gig. If they don't find something in six MORE months...it'll be plenty of time to invent something.

      :D

  18. Where do you live? That's crazy. One thing that's been somewhat refreshing about Canada's approach is that wearing masks outdoors has never been something enforced particularly vigourously.
  19. I really hope this is them hedging their bets. Like with an overly conservative vaccination timeline that kept getting revised as supply came in. The rationale is that even at 60% adults, which we'll achieve this week, it takes 2 or 3 weeks for people vaccinated this week to have appropriate protection. So they're extended the lockdown until then. So there is science behind it. I got my vaccine 3+ weeks ago, I'm only now getting full protection. I would suggest if numbers drop to below 1,000 by early June, they'll happily move this timeline up.
  20. This speaks to the demand. We clearly aren't running out of supply. We're getting 4.5 million doses this week.
  21. Cite? We're receiving vaccine supply at an accelerated pace. These appointments are weeks out.
  22. Sweet Irony. They certainly aren't delaying shots 3-4 months assuming people that don't have double shots are still a huge risk of being hospitalized. 3 weeks after your first shot you have lots of protection. The second shot is a booster.
  23. Unenforceable Crime. How is it Federal? And what did I saw that was incorrect? I've also gotten my vaccine.
  24. I'm seeing family. The weather is nice, if you do fear the VID you should be able to see people outdoors. People can't advocate for Recreational facilities to be own and then tell people you can't see family or friends. Have you not been vaccinated (one dose)? If not I suppose that's a whole different discussion. I would suggest we have 2 more weeks of this. The new cases just dropped to 1,600. The thousands of people getting vaccinated every day need a few weeks before they achieve optimal protection.
  25. Are you? You're being a good little soldier. We'll beat the US targets for July regarding first dose percentage.
