  1. At least I know I'm in good company. When they opened it up for people over 40, scores of people flocked to get the AZ shot. JT and DoFo got it. I can take solace in the fact that if I can't go the to US, neither can they.
  2. Ditto. I was stupid enough to get the AZ shot. Now NACI says you should look to get an mRNA as the second shot. I'm sure if all involved had this over again, the AZ vaccine wouldn't have been approved for use in Canada. There's fear that the US won't even recognize it once the border opens. Which would be dumb as a majority of the rest of the world will probably be using the vaccine. In hindsight we were all worried the supply that everyone said was coming wasn't going to come. And now there's vaccines for everyone. There's nothing stopping anyone that wants it to get both doses by September. Had you guaranteed us all that in February, we'd have probably taken it.
  3. That's what the vaccines are for. See the US opening. The only thing that would stop that is morons not getting vaccinated.
  4. SCOTUS upholds ObamaCare. 7-2 vote.

Which means it won't be overturned through the courts.

No that’s not what it means.  It means that this plaintiff didn’t demonstrate enough connection to the law and harm from it.

      Sounds like the Plantiff lost.

  5. This Re-opening plan was obviously an attempt to under promise and over deliver. https://www.cp24.com/news/could-ontario-enter-step-two-ahead-of-schedule-ford-promises-to-raise-issue-with-health-table-1.5472664
  6. Oh so it's the politicians highlighting these virus mutations? GOTCHA!
  7. New Zealand had Lockdowns. https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/new-zealand-s-largest-city-back-in-lockdown-as-covid-19-lingers-1.5326984
  8. You'd have to cite a few for proper apples to apples analysis.
  9. Lockdown is also a very subjective term.
  10. Nathaniel Veltman will be charged with terrorism, in addition to four counts of 1st degree murder and 1 count of attempted murder.

But yeah, it's just media conjured propaganda.

Hopefully actual evidence of terrorism will be presented.

  11. What's the kneejerk lockdown? We've entered Stage 1 and we won't know if it will cause a spike for a week or two. Which is why they've pledged to spread these stage out by a 21 days.
  12. Ontario is sucking and blowing with this AZ first dose guidance. Don't say that the Delta Variant is only 30-50% protection and then say getting the second dose less than 12 weeks from the first dose is something you need to sign a waiver for. https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/astrazeneca-second-dose-should-i-get-it-again-or-choose-pfizer-or-moderna-vaccine
  13. That's how viruses work.
  14. It looks like the Delta Variant won't likely lead to a fourth wave. I always found that messaging fear-mongering. People in "Hot Zones" will be able to book second doses starting next week.
  15. From your article: The reason they're at a greater risk of getting COVID-19 is also a reason why many haven't gotten the vaccine. - Work Schedules - Transportation - Being misinformed that it's FREE.
  16. Peel is well inline with national averages. https://www.toronto.com/news-story/10315583-tracking-the-covid-vaccine-rollout-in-peel-region/ When you look globally. No major nation has exceeded 75% first dose vaccination amongst the eligible population. Even in Israel which is the global leader amongst major nations. Note: Canada will soon pass Israel. Seems there are just 20% of any population that just won't get a COVID-19 vaccination.
  17. That would certainly suck. But the first-dose vaccination rate in these areas has been pretty good. The people in Peel want priority again for second doses. Why are we still prioritizing age groups? We should actually be prioritizing younger people at this point.
  18. It means that people shouldn't be acting like everything is normal quite yet. Get your second dose ASAP. The UK is seeing a spike in cases even though they have a good vaccination rate.
  19. That's a really old article. Published before the lockdowns. I subsequent push has been made to get vaccination. We've moved on to the point people can get their second doses now.
  20. The US isn't on pace to hit Biden's target of 70% of adults with one-dose of a vaccine by July 4th. Canada is already there.

Weather is a contributing factor as well.

If vaccination rates stay at 50% or below in certain states, the disease could re-gain a foothold with variants.

It certainly is possible, but in the meantime they’re living their lives as mostly back to normal.  Keeping things closed down because something might happen later on is not what this is supposed to be about.  We’re down to 400 cases/day now in Ontario.  Why was it ok to have limited capacity at a gym last July but not this July when vaccinations are overwhelming?

I guess because our full vaccination rate is only like 8% and we have variants to deal with now.

They've kind of moved the goalpost on this because of a study that shows 2 dose is less than 50% effective against the Delta variant.

DoFo was burned by re-opening before hospitalization went back down.

  21. Dunno, Ramen places seem to be doing alright.
  22. Sweden's death rate is bad. But, I'll admit, the US, Mexico Brazil and much of Westerrn Europe's numbers are much worse. My bad.
  23. Are those countries the benchmarks now? Their death per million is 1,400 more than double Canada's 688.
  24. Those two countries have had very strict lockdowns. Melbourne is locked down right now for having double digit cases. They also have piss poor vaccination rates so if/when the Delta variant takes hold, they'll have to go back to the lockdown route. As for Scandinavian countries, they're always used as a benchmark for good government. They're very small homogenous countries. And Sweden has amongst the highest death per capita in the world for their refusal to lockdown. Why not compare Canada to other countries in the G7?
