  1. What about mandates that students receive the MMR vaccine? This is not authoritarianism, you're crying Chicken Little because you're a partisan hack. If you think vaccine requirements have anything to do with Nazism you're perspective of history is so warped not to be taken seriously.
  2. In your opinion. But if it's vaccinated people crowding into ICUs like we see in Florida, something has to be done. I'm hopeful we've already reached a vaccination level where that won't be an issue. But the unvaccinated need to feel the pressure. I think they are already. Well I've cited that the surge was led by essential workers who couldn't self isolate. Older people, who were getting the vaccine, could isolate. You just want to blame the surge on JT, because you're a partisan hack.
  3. The "blog" is re-publishing a New York Times story behind a pay wall. Ultimately I agree that younger/healthier people will generally fare better against COVID-19. But that's not an absolute. And if the goal is to mitigate serious illness, everyone should seek the vaccine. In Ontario, the Alpha Variant was causing many younger front-line workers in the GTA to get very sick. https://www.cp24.com/news/pandemic-s-third-wave-hits-people-in-their-20s-30s-with-more-illness-and-blame-1.5370882?cache=%2F7.609312 What's interesting is that people will risk getting the disease, because they're "healthy". But they're terrified of a vaccine that millions upon millions of people have taken without any, statistically relevant, serious side effects.
  4. So what system do you propose? Just answering your questions. Politicians are listening to doctors. And Internet warriors are upset because they don't agree with their findings. Right now, short of masking and travel, life seems pretty normal. And I think anyone who thinks masking is an overbearing a front to their Liberty is a moron. Sure it's annoying, but it's a mere inconvenience. People have literally ruined their lives being filmed having temper tantrums over masking.
  5. You not pay attention to what's happening in certain US states? COVID is back there, because of low vaccination rates. We elect politicians to do things like public health. People who actually study and understand this are advising them. Don't like how DoFo is handling this? vote him out next time, but trust me, the NDP and Liberals would have gone much farther. Public Health officials are doing this all the time. Studying the numbers and understanding the risks. What's wrong with the world today is that people on the internet think they know better than people who have spent their life studying how contagious diseases work.
  6. I saw that too. And had to do digging about the rationale. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/experts-warn-that-new-covid-19-data-on-vaccination-status-may-not-show-whole-picture-1.5541781 With the level of vaccination in Ontario, the pool of vaccinated people is much greater. At this point the Hospitalization rate is completely manageable. So it doesn't matter. But these are the figures that need to be tracked. And yes, there is evidence that Delta is making Younger people much sicker. https://californianewstimes.com/is-the-delta-variant-making-younger-adults-sicker-quicker-health-news-firstpost/468272/ Anti Vaxxers have not evolved their thinking on this virus from the Original strain which overwhelmingly effected high risk populations.
  7. There are plenty of examples of young and healthy people experiencing severe illness from COVID-19. The Beta and Delta Variants have been making younger people far sicker than the original strain. Getting the vaccine is the best way to ensure one doesn't get sick. The goal is to have COVID endemic in society and the more people with vaccine protection the less likely we see more deadly strains of the virus. The more that there are hold-outs from getting the vaccine, the most it'll still spread in the community. You'd hope we get to a point that only those with co-morbidities would need a booster, but right now COVID is still new enough that it can kill a healthy person who doesn't have any antibody protection.
  8. Quebec is being pro-active on this. Unlike Ontario, who is going to wait until things get dire, like they did in the Spring regarding vaccine distribution. I'm hopeful that 2/3 full vaccination rate is enough to keep hospitalization low, but if now, we'll have to curb freedoms again. But why should people that did their duty and got vaccinated be treated the same as an Anti-Vaxxer in this scenario? We're not going to be able to shut down business and tell people to stay at home again. Vaccine verification is the only solution. BTW it's not a new thing.
  9. Thread about this already.
  10. No one is advocating for mandatory vaccination. Though some private companies certainly are, as is their right. You pretending to be the intelligent one in this debate is textbook Dunning-Kruger. The carrot is not doing lockdowns again. Most intelligent people get that. Then there's you. . .

      From the link:

It shouldn't be the people that are believing disinformation that we should be angry at.

It should be the small group of people who are spreading disinformation and making lies fact.

What's the difference?  People who don't take the vaccine because of disinformation are also spreading that disinformation.

As sad as it is, it will be those who accept disinformation who will suffer the most from Covid, or whatever other diseases will come in the future.

      And you're being Willfully ignorant.

  11. You think you're being, somehow, intellectual by refusing to get vaccinated. Then you post an article about Breakthrough infections, completely missing the point that vaccines aren't designed to eliminate infections. They're meant to prevent severe illness and death! You don't think you'll get sick from COVID-19, fine. But if you do, which has become the fate of a lot Anti-Vaxxers in the past few months. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9875841/Covid-wipes-anti-vaxxer-family-Son-loses-father-73-mother-65-brother-40-virus.html Even if you had been previously infected, you didn't get the Delta variant. And I hope you realize that Vaccine Passports, when/if we get it are meant to prevent ignorant Anti-Vaxxers, out of the Hospital, even if they don't want it.
  12. You mad bro ? Conservatives have target the free-market corporations for their outrage to a Vaccine Passport. Because they're the ones that will want one the most. No one wants lockdowns again.
  13. Well we're all obsessed with Trump so. . . . ?
  14. https://cleantechnica.com/2021/01/07/cobalt-banished-from-new-lithium-ion-electric-vehicle-batteries/ The EV industry is already moving away from Cobalt. Though it's silly to assume that creating advanced technology will not require raw materials. I fail to see how the only obstacle someone faces when choosing to buy an EV would be the mining of certain metals that make the battery. Especially if the alternative is investing in another inefficient ICU vehicle for another 5-10 years.
  15. At least metals in Lithium Batteries are recyclable. Battery tech is continually evolving. Unlike ICE fuel efficiency, which can't seem to get below 6L/100 kms.
  16. https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/2021/08/09/ontario-is-undermining-its-vision-of-being-an-electric-vehicle-manufacturing-centre.html DoFo should recognize where the Global winds are blowing. Invest in EV infrastructure an incentivize car-buyers to buy an EV as their next car. He risks damaging the Ontario Auto Sector as that's where the Big 3 are moving their focus in the coming years. As the Article mentions, Ontario has the Natural resources to help move from Fossil Fuel infrastructure to Battery development and manufacturing. The rest of the country is way ahead of us on this. Across the 401 there are OnRoute rest-stop, none have DC Fast Chargers. This is a no-brainer to help make Ontario a more EV friendly market.
  17. The real dunderheads are the ones who refuse a vaccine because of things they read on Instagram.
  18. I know you're pro-death by transmissible disease. We've established that. But we've also established you're anti death by waiting for surgeries because they've been cancelled due to lack of ICU capacity. COVID spikes all over the world cause Healthcare systems to be taxed. It's happening in Florida right now. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/florida-breaks-record-new-daily-covid-cases-third-time-week-n1276263
  19. Remember people, a vaccine passport would only be required if cases spike again where a lockdown would be the only other remedy to help preserve healthcare and avoid another lockdown. With 2/3 people in Ontario being vaccinated, I would hope that wouldn't happen.
  20. Doesn't look like it. Some countries may ban people that got mixed doses. Oh well, I guess I really didn't want to visit your country for tourism purposes anyway.
  21. There are vaccines for those diseased?
  22. And rural folks wouldn't have a market for the stuff they produce without City Folk. Symbiotic relationship. I have no sympathy to people who refuse to adapt to the changing landscape regarding Fossil Fuels, and bitch about it. The entire developed world is moving towards using fossil fuels less.
  23. US COVID cases have not been this high since February.

Just wait until the fall when it happens to us.  It’s predictably seasonal, the same thing happened last year at the same time.

      Vaccine passport!

You'd hope with a 70%+ Fully vaccination rate, versus 50% in the US. AND 30% and under in some states fuelling the spike, things won't be as bad.

Uh oh.  Ontario sees biggest new cases in 6 weeks.
