Low Information Voters (LIV)
MiddleClassCentrist replied to August1991's topic in Political Philosophy
LIV is the name of our political game. Right to Work is "for worker choice" but, when actually looking deeper, no benefits go to the worker in the long run. Poor people vote conservative to pay fewer taxes... When they already pay nearly nothing and would only receive less assistance under a consevative reign. People in the top 5% (but less than 1%) often see themselves as middle class and vote to give away their wealth. -
It's actually on the reverse from what he's saying... because of aborting female babies being popular in eastern cultures and fewer men killing themselves off in war (There are naturally more males than females born), there is going to be a larger number of males. Aborting female fetuses seems like a way to protect family lines... until there are no partners for your sons to procreate with. Short sighted behaviour based on silly patriarchal name saving... names are just an identifier... blood ties are what actually connect families. More people should choose a new family name when marrying... I wanted a name where people would have to admit that I am awesome. Mr. Superior, Mr. Awesome, Mr. LordOfTheUniverse lol. Anyways, The theory is that men will have a harder time to get exclusive relationships and keep exclusive relationships when there are plenty of men trying to woo women for a relationship, or just a quick romp.

Shooting at a school? We should arm the teachers with guns. Firefighters get lured and shot at? The should have been armed with their own guns! Maybe... Just maybe... More guns isn't the solution? It reminds me of the "Are more guns really the answer to gun violence? In the Newton shooting, I feel it was more about an untreated mental illness than a gun problem... Shouldn't the solutions involve more of an approach to helping those with mental issues? To be clear, I do not blame guns for these recent incidents. I just don't understand how anyone could suggest that the best solution is to give more people guns...

Actually, yes. If they were unable to fill the vacancy and suffered a significant loss to income as a result of not giving proper notice. Its more likely that they just drop their standards and accept someone who is available. But only really in the case of receiving a signing bonus to guarantee a commitment of a certain period. A family member in Engineering gets signing bonuses to guarantee that they will stay for a certain period.Dental hygenists aren't really unique in skill or in short supply, probably wouldn't give them out.

I've been sexually harassed. It goes both ways. She'd make excuses to come see me,make inappropriate remarks... YOU are choosing to label the man a villain. What right do you have to do that? Since you don't know the content of the texts? You can't claim that they were purely innocent without seeing them either. Fact is: they disturbed his WIFE, they clearly weren't acceptable.

Read up on emotional affairs. It doesnt have to start off sexual and often starts as mere friendship, a get away from the stress of marriage (finances, children, responsibility)I also stand by my comment that this is only being discussed because a woman lost her job, if a man was fired or treated improperly because his boss was a female and she felt that they needed to end the possibility of a relationship, this wouldn't be news. Guy screws up, girl is the victim Girl screws up, girl is the victim

Merry Christmas everyone. Especially those whom i disagree with from time to time!

If some guy was constantly texting my wife, sharing intimate details of our personal life and she spent a lot of time with him... I'd see him as a threat to our marriage. If he was an employee of hers, It would be appropriate to fire him
-
Absolutely, she crossed the line and had more to lose. Is the dentist going to shut down the practice just to end it? If that were a man in the same situation, this wouldnt even be newsworthy. Thats what is pathetic about this. The man probably would just suck it up, as men are supposed to do, and move on after getting to close of a relationship with a female of authority. This is only news because it happened to a woman.

Is Iowa a right to work state? I would be surprised if any severance was required, if it is.
-
His business, his life, personal emails being exchanged = emotional affair, she can plausible deny it but talking about her sex life with him makes less plausible. He gave her severence. Thats all that is really required in Canada as well, and all that you will get in the case of wrongfull dismissal is lost wages between jobs. You can fire anyone without severance for just cause, you can fire anyone with notice and legally required severence in Canada, especially since all they'll get in canada is lost wages its not worth a court battle. This is a misunderstanding of entitled youth that you can ONLY be fired for just cause. The irony being that younger generations hate unions more than ever, and being in one would prevent this. Why dont we tackle a worse issue, since this wasn't a gender based ruling(women can fire men they deem hazardous to their marriage). Why do women consistently avoid hiring women they deem more attractive that themselves? Oh wait, that's females discriminating against females... We can only hate men in this feminist world.

I bought a Playbook. Black Friday, on sale for 115... You can't get an Apple device with a screen for less that 150 new. I brought it to work and some said "hey, when did you get the iPad mini?" I laughed... Its as if 7" tablets never existed prior to the mini. Loving my playbook, price value cant be beat at 115. Especially with more space and a better camera than the nexus. What it is missing is Netflix because they refused to make a BB playbook app (jerks). I wouldn't have paid the original $500 for it but, I wouldnt have bought any tablet at that price point.

Well Hudak's got my vote
MiddleClassCentrist replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
According to some poll, Hudak's move to ridiculous right has lost moderate voters... and again succeeded at snatching failure from the jaws of victory. I hope they switch him out... need a sensible PC contender. Moving liquor to grocery stores won't decrease prices... unless they remove taxes. And it will hurt government into more taxes or cuts by dropping a revenue stream. -

That depends on who is in power. -

excuse me? They have to hire security because a teacher is not allowed to physically restrain a student. Teachers are scared to break up fights because they could face recourse if something goes wrong. -

In time, it's a dead system. Catholics will fight to keep it alive, sure. But it does have an end in its future. Unless the world becomes entirely Catholic, cleansing all forms of free thought. Which is entirely contrary to our world of scientific progress. -

I seriously hope this effed up system doesn't last too much longer .... Catholic funding to build new schools where all students are already serviced just results in more, surplus capacity schools... -
Persecuted Atheists Around the World
MiddleClassCentrist replied to cybercoma's topic in Religion & Politics
The irony of the all loving, forgiving and generally benevolent religion is that the followers aren't. Ask tough questions about Christ to a fundamental Christian, you are a heretic. Some Atheists go too far, just as Christians do. I have a relative on my wife's side, takes any chance to slag religion. It's annoying, especially since I'd label myself an agnostic who sees the benefit of religion. Mention Santa Claus/Stories told to our kids about him, he'll comment on how it's a little religion to brainwash the kids. It's just for fun, every parent tries to make the world more magical for their kids to some degree. -

Great, Private Schools already give high marks for money and their students do worse at university... Intriguing free market concept.Free market education is a lot like marketing, you dont actually need a better product or result, you just need enough people to believe that things are better(inflated high marks) and theyll think that it is better. That being said, I would gladly put my children in private school for elementary because the public system is full is full of high needs,.violent students whose parents demand that they be integrated... At the cost of everyone elses education. -

How about the part where it is not to be challenged? Do you agree? Section 14 and 15 above. Clearly violating civil rights. Big government right there. -

As usual, rather that respond logically... Right wing rage responds with emotive, near meaningless argle bargle. Address the facts/discussion, less hearsay and silly blind rage. Fletch, do you believe Bill 115's measures that put the Goverment of Ontario above the human rights code, labour law, and legal challenge to be good policy? Please answer. -

Fletch, maybe if you spent your time trying to fight to improve your life and benefits, you wouldn't be so god damned bitter about what other people have. The mega corps/1%ers are laughing at all of us. So many fools have bought into mantra of "No one can have more than me, and if they do they don't deserve it!" Do I think teachers deserve infinite raises? no... of course not. But they deserve the right to be treated as a human, with access to the human rights code and labour laws of all Ontarians.
