  1. The stone should come from Canada. US government doesn't buy Canadian goods with their protectionist measures. Canadian Government shouldn't buy theirs either.
  2. Fun Info: Opium production in Afghanistan has skyrocketed since US intereference. The Taliban had been cracking down on it. Maybe the US needs the drugs to keep their national war, the war on drugs, going strong?
  3. By investment and expertise, do you mean dumping oil extraction remnants directly into 3rd world countries water supplies just because it's cheaper? or dumping it in the closest field to save a buck? Because that's their record. Why is it that countries that allow foreign oil corporations into them... don't actually reap many rewards and just end up with a cancer striken population?
  4. Well, when you are hated by the US which has a long, dark history of putting in puppets and getting rid of leaders who don't bow down to them... You might be a little paranoid too.
  5. Western propaganda surely worked against him for not bowing to the interests of the corporatocracy. Right now, I'm sure the western corporatocracy is drooling at the prospect of getting operatives in to try to ensure a favourable, corrupted candidate can replace him. I hope Venezuelan's get a new leader that will work for their own interests.
  6. Marketing is creating desire for a product you might not have normally bought. Or trying to create the view of apparent difference in a product when not much really exists. For example, the $4000 Rainbow vacuum cult. NO Vacuum could possibly be worth that but they market it to people in a way to sell it. The "added value" is useless so to speak, a vacuum is pretty much a vacuum. The 4p's of the marketing mix. Product, Price, Placement, Promotion
  7. I hope so. Ford is way too entertaining to get rid of.
  8. It's not grass roots by any means. It's sold to the highest bidder. In the Windsor/Detroit fiasco, it was Mr. Maroun who bought them. The Tea Party is modern conservative corruption and extremism at it's finest. Death to gays, let corporations do whatever they want, kill government involvement in favour of corporate involvement. It's embarassing as a country that tries to appear more civilized, to be attached to such wackos. It originally started because of anger toward the bailout that corporate america received and was soon politically bought out by hard line Republicans, who were AFRAID of the momentum it was generating. The Republicans quashed any of the real grassroots movement because... what's good for the people isn't always good for the corporations. Both Republicans and Democrats alike are pretty much owned by corporate America, someone had to step in and take over this new and threatening movement... heaven forbid the people actually get control of their country again.
  9. Everyone pays everyone else's wages. That is the whole point. Everyone should make less because this world is run by conservative think tanks with tons of money to spew propaganda that says so... unless you point out scenarios that benefit corporations, then for some reason it's all dandy.
  10. Toronto deserves him. TBH, I want him re-elected. He generates great discussions on his reality TV quality antics in the lunch room/water cooler. Those social bonds he's created through discussion are invaluable in every workplace.
  11. Could be smoke and mirrors. NDP doesn't have a good war chest for an election... would be counting on general disgruntled voters switching over.
  12. The media sure ran with that one, trying to scare teachers into giving in. I read a few responses from Catholic Schools saying they didn't notice any change, a few others that said they felt it was bit more busy. A few people from the Catholic boards really indulged in the marketing of the Catholic board to talk it up. The reality is that a few kids might have switched... Unless there are a large number of idiot parents who think that their child is guaranteed a spot on a team(lol, so shortsighted. Public teachers probably wouldn't want to deal with that parent anyways) The "official" reason was to show goodwill toward Wynne so that they could get back to bargaining. Extracurricular's are more intertwined with Secondary teachers. It's part of many teachers' identity. They enjoy the coaching, many identify with the coaching more than teaching. I think it's harder for OSSTF to hold them off and read their membership fairly well. As MAC said, they didn't have the same level of support ETFO did from the start. The heart of their membership wanted to leave the imposition/Bill 115 to the courts, and modify the deal to get something to vote on. That's what they are getting. Give a Mike Harris scenario where secondary teachers get a whole crap load of extra work and more teaching time that take away extracurriculars and they'd be held off indefinitely. I feel that ETFO is digging themselves their own grave. If OSSTF walks out of here with a 4 year contract, I've heard rumours that they want a 4 year deal to avoid a potential Hudaktopia, they will be insulated from drastic political changes. ... ETFO will get raped by the Tories if they keep holding out.
  13. Do you not recall the claims that Canada is becoming more conservative - says conservatives.
  14. If women and minorities make 80cents to the white males dollar in the private sector... And 100% in the public sector, a large portion on the "average wage" difference is simply equitable pay practices. All corporations spend such money. All pass it onto the consumer. Corporations often pass liability onto the taxpayer (nuclear power, oil environmental contamination). Paying people a decent wage is not evil, in the same light.
  15. There's plenty of tea party supporters like Tim Hudak kicking around, and you support him... sooo.....
  16. You mean, just like how corporations pass on costs to the consumer? Somebody has to pay for those lawsuits, lobbying and pro-corporate propaganda. Consumers pay for corporate screw ups because the cost gets put into the product. We pay for companies to market their product to us to convince us to buy it. If they stopped marketing and we just choose what products we liked, how much would the cost of living go down by? If corporate lobbyists were declared illegal (As they should be), how much would our costs go down by? If insurance companies weren't allowed to pass their poor investments decisions in other sectors onto their customers, how much would that go down by? What I described above, is way more sick than a government providing good wages to it's workers. Except when you point out that women and minorities get paid fairly in public sector jobs... and women make up the lion's share of many sectors of public service jobs That's just inconvenient information though.
  17. Well crap... Now conservatives will convince idiots to advocate that everyone lose the perk of a stable job. "Why should they get that, I don't... THEY SHOULDN'T EITHER" Like they have for all other middle class perks. Why should tbey get good vacation time? Why should they get a decent wage? Why should they get a pension? Race to the bottom! Long live corporate interests!
  18. This solution can be run in the desert, in the sun as energy input. It was estimated that they'd need 1/7th of the space that corn crops use, as desert, to make this feasible. I haven't looked into it for a few years but, it was the idea was conceived at the "alternative fuel source" time when oil companies were spending mass amounts of money to shut out other ideas and red herring hydrogen to everyone... because it could be 50 years into the future.
  19. I wouldn't say they are just theme parks. But, it would require a significant paradigm shift for city dwellers to adopt the idea of environmentalism over convenience. I still prefer the idea of mutant, fast growth algae that sucks up CO2 from the air... and then can be processed into fuel. 100% carbon neutral and fits our current idea of energy use.
  20. It's stupidly easy. 5Gallon Fermentation Bucket - ~$22 (I make 3 gallon batches due to low storage space in this bucket) Airlock and Bung - ~$4 I purchased the optional auto siphon/tubing + hydrometer to estimate alcohol content (another $25 ish bucks) Pick Apple Juice/Cider, Add some sugar to increase alcohol content (if desired), pour yeast, seal. When done, bottle.
  21. It's more than drinkable after a few weeks, after about a month in the bottle the apple notes really come out. I won't try to compete with a cidery but, as an easy drinking beverage it's good. My second batch is turning out better as time goes on, the smell has subsided. I've had it sitting for over a week in bottles (total time from start to drink = 1 month, most people recommend that it sit for longer but I'm just experimenting so my last bottle will be drinken in about a month). I carbonated it with apple juice concentrate to add more apple notes to it. I bought the "melow" apple juice from concentrate at costco $12.99 for 12L, + $1 yeast + 1.99 concentrate = ~65-72 cents a pint after including process loss.
  22. How about we add air sex. It's competitive and can be judged.
  23. They need to name MMA what it is. Freestyle Fighting. Wrestling is more of an olympic sport than synchronized swimming. There is a clear winner with an objective, not subjective, goal.
  24. Really enjoying the time with my family in the snowy weather :)

  25. Was someone being witty? Atheism with a belief structure is possible as evidenced by the beliefs and values that go very closely with atheism. For instance, the importance of conclusive evidence over feelings and faith, and the need to feel control over one's own existence over being part of a greater plan (fate) But, to be an Atheist does not mean you are "religiously" atheist.
