  1. He didn't just win, he won by majority, and as far as I know has the legal authority to do what he's doing. Personally I was shocked when he won, and I mocked the process and voters who put him in power. They gave him total power, with nary an idea of what he was going to do. All that mattered was to remove the Liberals/ Wynne. The thing that is bothering you is bigger than just Doug Ford, and may yet get worse. Best you relax and have a drink.
  2. Did he not win the Premiership on a platform of cutting government?
  3. This. He has no problem saying "no" when it does not align with his ideology. Another example- he doesn't like it when someone says "mankind".
  4. A bit early to decide yet, isn't it? I'm in favour of wait and see. To heck with some opinion panel full of outraged liberals.
  5. Agreed, and sadly it has become a "thing", attracting all sorts of crazies, the disenfranchized, copy-cat killers who are inspired by those who've done it before. There might not be many of them but when they do their murderous act it attracts a lot of attention. There seems to be a mystique or attraction (infamy...) as in going out in a blaze of glory. Islamists have taken advantage of it in their message. That is why anyone who is attracted to that message has to be watched by authorities, as this guy apparently was, but not closely enough. Perhaps it should be a crime to look for that kind of information, or peruse those web sites. We make other things of that nature a crime.
  6. It looks like you compared the ratios but not the total population of people in those countries. In that case the final answer "140" persons can't be valid.
  7. Can't say I know. Infamy? Alienation? Just not getting any? Or too many video games
  8. 1. It's all debatable. 2. No. It is not a fact. It is debatable. Telling the truth, as in the WHOLE truth, will marginalize those who seek to raise the spectre of the "evil Muslim" in our society. Facts for example like: - How many Muslims are there in Canada? - How many are at risk of being radicalized? - How many are just as horrified at this tragedy as non-Muslims? Then people who are normal and rational will understand the scale of the problem. But if the government is trying to hide the person's name, or that they were a Muslim, or that they came from Pakistan, what exactly is the message coming from the government? They're saying that these facts present a problem for their "meme". 3.If I were King...
  9. Intuition gets raised when there is conflicting information coming out (both sides of mouth reference). If you agree on 2 and 3, then you must acknowledge that speaking the whole truth is the right and only approach, that gives the public the answers it deserves AND protects normal everyday Muslims. The PLAIN truth. If I were king...
  10. You assume that anyone who likes Trump is... etc. I guess that is your meme then. Oh well, nobody is perfect. This thread is not about you or me, etc. so we should not continue. I hate personal posts.
  11. Love hearing the wailing and crying from Toronto city councillors on the news today. Doug Ford is a tyrant, a threat to democracy, the next Trump... the next Hitler! Their whining is like music, their tears, like drops of gold.

Those alleged "protest by the people" aren't the voice of the people of Toronto!  They're party faithfuls -  just look at their signs - they're all professionally done!

They're made for photo-ops and biased tv news!  C'mon, whom are you fooling?  People aren't dopey, not yet anyway.

Yep, the loud-mouthed protesters get air time, as if to show this is "the voice of the people". That is part of the game, as usual. I'd like to see a poll on this one, I suspect most people are highly cynical of government and would welcome a move like this. So that we see is "the System" trying to protect itself.

  12. I suggest that they are reacting to the same thing that gets the ire of many ordinary folks. We know was BS looks like and smells like. We don't need to taste it, to figure it out. IE. The thing that causes such wild speculation, that leads to inflammatory comments is because liberals speak out of both sides of their mouths. The guy was a deranged person, that's clear. The guy expressed his desire to kill someone, anyone. The guy went to ISIS web sites. I'm no Einstein but I can figure out that he did it "in the name of" something. We've seen this before... disconnected terrorist sympathiser gets a bad idea. The authorities need to control the message, to prevent people from associating any such crackpot with Muslims at large. But leaving an information vacuum does not do the trick. People seek to fill in the blanks. In that regard, the government does ordinary Muslims a disservice.
  13. We can debate what has a place on this board. That is no longer your call, apparently. Thanks for the broad-band insult, oh luminous one. And do let us know when it's supposed to be funny, in case we miss it!
  14. I agree, it seems like a bold move but Doug Ford has financial commitments to make, and has to make cuts somewhere. Not sure how much it would save in terms of money though. Secondly, since DoFo worked there as a councillor for some time I'm sure he knows about the inner workings of Toronto city council. Perhaps he knows something we don't know... like there's a lot of waste. The OP complains about DoFo, but in the same opening complains that Toronto homeless get to live in the streets, while so-called refugee influx from the US is being set up in hotels and holiday resorts, along wit all the trimmins... clothing, health care, dental. We continue to ignore the plight of the homeless. Why? Doesn't score identity-politics brownie points, but makes liberals feel all good inside. No problem, just walk right on by the rubby in the streets.
  15. I doubt it. By now it should be very clear that Donald Trump does not give one heck about "blowback". From what I understand the "deal" with EU (not official yet...) is far better than any deal before. As in NO tariffs. Not just the new tariffs implemented by Trump, but the old ones which the EU had imposed on US vehicles, etc. This is capitalism on steroids. Trump's methods are bizarre and confusing to some, which raises much fear, and yet they appear to be very effective so far.
  16. The irony of this statement is not lost to me...
  17. Because it was also reported he was being watched by CSIS, RCMP and local police due to his apparent interest in ISIS websites. I don't dispute that he was mentally ill, and seems that he wanted kill people even when he was younger, as reported by his high school teacher. BUT- allow me to clarify before knees start jerking. I don't believe he did it simply "because he was a muslim" either. To me it looks like he was crazy, and was inspired by other people who are also crazy (IE. terrorists...).
  18. Meanwhile Europe wins, Trump claiming he will back off on the metal tariffs too. Canada now waiting on the sidelines. empty handed. Your suggestion of knee-jerk leftist emotional reaction leads to bull-shit.
  19. I agree with arrogance but can't say I do on intelligence, and amorality has no place in this discussion, imo. There are no moral legs for anyone to stand on. I see Trump, Obama and minor figures such as Trudeau as ideologues whose contribution to modern politics increases the divide. The reaction to Obama from his adversaries was equally visceral, and electing Donald Trump is the response. I'm expecting another shocker too- Trump has a good chance of winning a second term. Although, that is still a good way off and a lot can happen before then. As long as Trump s successful in the things that matter, he will win again. It seems those things which you point out mean little to the US voter.
  20. And yet, most people haven't even heard of it, making it easier to distort the facts and present his position as anti-NATO, pro-Russia. Trump's style is very off-putting, which invokes an immediate negative response in people who are emotionally reactive. To those who stay calm, listen carefully, pay attention to the facts, there is nothing wrong here. Every president, or leader uses rhetoric and distraction to capture the attention of the public, while their true agenda is carried out regardless. Even Obama knew that complete transparency is unwise. His smile and soothing words were like sweet oil poured into the ears of leftists. Perhaps he even fooled you, fella.
  21. True, but it is related to the thread topic, in that the US seeks to pressure other NATO members to increase defence spending. NATO leadership gave credit to president Trump for his achievement, last year. And this year as well... which makes it hard to accept the theory that Trump supports Russia and seeks to hand over the planet to Vladimir Putin. For further reference, see thread OP: No.
