  1. What a pity. I guess we know who's getting a beating tonight...
  2. Glad you are enjoying the games. Two things to note: - Belgium has the most goals in the world cup. - Belgium already defeated England in the earlier rounds. I suggest our forum friend might need to go drown his sorrows some more.
  3. If the people there are tremendously unhappy with the way things are, they can change it.
  4. The work he has done is going to make NATO stronger, not weaker. Allies have agreed to meet the commitments they signed onto. Don't forget 2% of the GDP can be either a small amount or a large amount depending on the GDP, and the USA has the largest GDP of the group AND contributes the highest percentage. I heard some of the points Donald Trump made to the NATO allies, he exposed the hypocrisy of an alliance that is outwardly highly critical of Russia, yet at the same time is making them rich. The most serious problem is they are compromising their energy security, and there is a lot more focus on energy security these days. The criticism that Germany has foolishly and rapidly shut down its thermal and nuclear power generators in lieu of buying Russian gas is bang-on. Russia has used their gas pipelines in the past as a weapon, shut down the lines feeding European countries in a form of punishment a number of times already. These Europeans leaders are either extremely naive, or liars. I'll go with the latter. Russia Cuts Gas, and Europe Shivers Russia–Ukraine gas disputes Britain ‘four meals from anarchy’ if Russia cuts off fuel and power over spy poisoning row, experts warn The point is, now that he has a renewed commitment he can meet with Putin on stronger ground. This news is a message to the Russians. It would have been better to get an even greater commitment up to 4%, that would then present a threat to Putin/ Russia, and we need to do this. Russia has to be kept under pressure economically and militarily as much as possible, which appears to be what Trump wants to do here. Next he's going to Russia to have a meeting with his "friend" Putin. Keep friends close, keep enemies closer...
  5. Yes exactly. Sorry if I offended anyone as I thought we were living in a new post-national era. This tournament proves just how out of touch with reality that idea is. But they do show a lot of promise. At this level (semi-final) I would expect all the teams to be quite skilled, but the format of single-game elimination doesn't sit well with me. One game is not really a good test of a teams true worth, it all depends on who shows up to win for the day. England did have some great chances and dominated the field during the first half, good shots on goal throughout. They were shut down by a team with a more conservative style. They could have gone further, if they had made the right adjustments. Hardly anyone expected Croatia to be in the final.
  6. You were effectively replaced by low-income migrant workers, since you could not afford to live at such a low wage. This is what's happening around the country. It has crept in to the high-tech sector as well, we see some jobs requiring a college level diploma offering a minimum wage. They are looking for recent immigrants who have technical training from their homeland and come to Canada to start a new life, and they're willing to take the job at that rate. That is why conservatives oppose a large influx of migrants, if not done in a controlled way that protects our industry and workers from foreign exploitation. Be ye a fisher of men.
  7. There there, I was only kidding fella. Or maybe not... the link and the story is legit. So what's with that? It seems there is something psychological going on here behind the "World Cup". It inspires nationalistic fervour and this affects people quite deeply. National pride is at stake, but how does that translate to "personal pride"? And more importantly, to beating your wife. As a human observer I find it interesting, but it is off-topic here. Well the British boys came out of the gate full of piss and vinegar, they were aggressive and scored early. Ok, so the goal was a set play which is not the most beloved way to score, but a goal is a goal. There's no mystery in the strategy to save some energy for later. Younger, less experienced players often make this mistake, while more seasoned players know, they only need to withstand the initial wave of attack. Then once the opponent's speed and aggression begins to fade, its time to put it to them.
  8. Ok, but what about when England loses? Or more importantly, have you stopped beating your wife?

Looking at the ratings of countries' contribution to defense - if Greece can meet that obligation, why can't we?   This is so......embarrassing, to say the least.

  10. I personally would not make climate a primary factor in such a decision, but if the OP wants a climate similar to India, I'd still go with Waterloo...
  11. Yes I agree it would be among the worst outcomes. The insufferable Anglo-pansies would have no end of pleasure and happiness if they should win. Buncha peacocks, they'd be hard to put up with at work...

  13. Perhaps Waterloo University. I know they have a very new research centre for such modern computer innovations as Quantum Computing, and I recall that the physicist Stephen Hawking was there for the opening ceremony. Now that WHO has declared sex addiction a mental illness, just watch  that percentage increase.

It must be that the accuser had a dirty mind and Trudeau's motive was honourable. He is Honourable is he not?

  16. Let's hope the polytheists give em what for.
  17. Suggest it's always best to keep one's feet well grounded. If one's feet no longer touch the ground while walking, well...
  18. Not necessarily. He still has one good leg.
  19. His political grandstanding (" we have a responsibility to listen to them, and to believe them") has finally caught up to him. This exposes Trudeau for the shameless hypocrite he is, which is well deserved but won't likely result in a resignation.
  20. I agree it's very unlikely they will go all the way. Very unlikely. Today they just squeaked by. Especially when I saw what Brazil is capable of doing, that is a whole other level of play.
  21. I thought the tariff on ballpoint pens was making a bold statement on our part
  22. On this I agree 100%. I enjoy watching Swedish NHL teams such as Vancouver or Ottawa, get handed their azzes by a more "physical" team!
  23. What we are seeing is a complete upset for most strong teams. Interesting that Russia has somehow managed to make it through, although they barely had a shot on goal against Spain. And so, given the tournament is being held in Russia...
  24. Trudeau presented himself in the worst way possible. He looks so tiny in that little suit
