It is very simple. You know how the true believers think that socialism and communism will make everyone equal? It will. But only for the average peon. The winners in socialism and communism are the beaurocrats. And the billionaires will be the beaurocrats.2 points

So sad a LOSER like you cannot even put out a complaint post without so many errors LOL Trying to report me is a laugh. Your buddy confox has made 40.5K posts in only 3 years and in 90% of them he has called posters liars and has insulted other posters. You verandahboy just stalk and have down voted well over 50 (that is all they show but it has been many more dating back years during your meltdown) posts since April and have had nothing to offer at all except down arrows (and you are coming unglued with me giving down arrows?) and now...complain to the moderators? Makes you feel superior ...or vindictive LOL And lagato, well, he is just a bandwagon jumper LOL So, if you want moderator involvement, you may find yourself and your buddies as part of the fray LOL I am off to Europe in a few days so, this will give you time to recover from your meltdown LOL2 points

You're making the assumption that only local phones/residents were in the area when it's just as likely phones/people from outside the area were there driving trucks, travelling, or for any other number of reasons. Amber alerts are not about you. For the fools who believe they're inconvenienced this bad because of an alert that didn't apply to them, turn your phones off. And there was no crying wolf... the alert worked as intended.2 points

NYC is tanking, hard. Just a few months into Mamdani's historically stupid and anti-capitalist term as mayor, NYC is broke. But was that really a mistake, or was that his intention this whole time? You gotta admit that, for the avg guy whose family clicks "like" on Hamas terrorist attack FB posts, bankrupting NYC would be a proud moment.1 point

I couldn't let this go. If you are a communist/liberal, you are nodding along with what she said. You believe that building a business based on a product or service, is not earning wealth. The argument is, correct me if I am wrong (but I am not) that the billionaire did not earn the money because (s)he exploited workers' talents for profit. And profit is bad. Let's explore that a little from back to front: Profit is not bad. We hear this a lot. Communist/liberals (I am sorry I repeat myself so much) love to lift up nonprofits as some bastian of freedom in the utopia of commy land. The reality is that a nonprofit is unstable and incapable of growth. Without capital from profits, nonprofits cannot weather economic downturns. They are "living pay check to pay check", so to speak. If they miss a pay check, they don't have the funds to maintain staff or property. Even if they don't miss a pay check, they still cannot expand, modify or improve product or react to market/demand changes. They are fixed to a specific set of products and services at a specific price in specific economic conditions. Any changes will cause a catastrophic collapse. Profits are not bad. If we stipulate that they are, we still have the factually inaccurate claim that business owners (in this case, billionaires) are exploiting workers for their talents. The logic (is it logic?) behind that claim is that employees are not being paid enough because the business owner is making a lot of money. The first, and wrong, assumption that they make is that they get to determine what a business owner can take in profit. Since they believe that profit is evil, they are hard wired to believe they have a moral authority to prevent such a travesty. The obvious argument against this is that a free society does not limit wealth. Which should tell you everything you need to know about their ideology. The fact that we have laws against exploitation means that widespread crimal exploitation is not reality. The reality is that employees are paid based on their worth to the business. If wages are too low, other businesses will hire off the best talent. If the wages are too high, profits will diminish. Employees trade their services for certainty of a steady pay check and benefits. Meanwhile, business owners take on the risk of producing and providing goods and services with the hopes of large profits. In a perfect world, both win. The idea that billionaires did not earn their money is also absurd. To run a business, the owner must be adept at organization, identifying talent and implementing policies and procedures to facilitate productivity. To say they did not earn their money because others did work too is like saying Tom Brady did not deserve his Superbowl rings. Being a part of a team is earning the accolades. Leading the team is no different. Here is where we need to be careful. If they can limit the wealth of billionaires, they can do it to all of us. That is all they need. They come for the billionaires first because if they can establish a precedence that wealth is the pervue of the government and contrallable via lrgislation, then they can expand to millionaires. Then, they can devalue the money until we are all millionaires. Do not fall for the communist/liberal demonization lf peopke with wealth. They do not do demonize them because of who they are, what they have done or how much money they have. They demonize them to establish the moral authority to take full control of the economy and ultimately, you.1 point

The thing is carney season self as a European. He prefers Europe to Canada and has spent most of his last years there substantially. As soon as he got appointed to be PM after the leadership race the first thing he did was to fly there and start schmoozing. He has spent more time out of Canada than he has spent in Canada. It's of no surprise that he is looking at trying to bring us closer to Europe. The problem is once you understand how the European Union works it would be disastrous for us to be a full member. They have a habit of creating regulation that just happens to fit their exact current protected businesses and makes it impossible for others to participate For example I believe they have something like a thousand regulations on the manufacturing of pillows. Their pillow companies already matched all of these things in the laws came out and it didn't affect them but it makes it very hard for other pillow manufacturers. So if we sign up, we still can't trade properly with them unless we spend a lot of money 'conforming' This was one of the sticking points for the european free trade agreement and harper had almost solved the problem when he left office, freeland stepped in and screwed it up (actually left one meeting crying ffs) and that's why trade did not really get the bounce we hoped after it was signed1 point

Yeah, @LinkSoul60 is just trying to change the goalposts again. He's lost this fight so many times over it isn't funny, so he keeps trying to change the parameters. Now it isn't 2015, it's 2017. And it's not just Greater Vancouver, it's Metro Vancouver. And it's not 'the average person', it's 'some' people This is an excellent case study in how absolutely twisted the left has become. I've provided numerous links showing it from every angle, average income per person average income per couple with children, dwellings for singles or couples vs dwellings for families, etc etc etc. And yet he carries on in the most absurd fashion. Absolutely delusional, absolutely irrational and completely unhinged and unwilling to accept basic facts And this is how they are with EVERYTHING now,1 point

Absolutely spot on. The current Democrat Party isn't like the Bolsheviks of a century ago. They don't need to be. They don't have to be. They can regulate, change rules and laws to fit their goals. The old Communist doctrine of owning the means of production, etc. no longer need to be employed when billionaire corporate owners for reasons I will never understand favor Far Left policies. The old Marxists relied on economic gaps to provide the seething energy they needed to create a revolution. The Left now uses that less because even the so-called "poor" in America live better than lots of folks in other country, what with their HD TVs and iPhones. So now the Left is dividing society by race and gender instead, as well as pushing antisemitism . Their radicalism is stunning: imagine thinking that it's okay to have boys in a girls locker room, for instance. Staggering.1 point

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA https://www.axios.com/local/richmond/2026/05/08/virginia-supreme-court-redistricting-vote-decision The Virginia Supreme Court overturned the results of the state's redistricting referendum, which voters narrowly approved last month. Why it matters: The 4-3 ruling upends one of the most closely watched redistricting fights in the country. It follows months of legal challenges over whether the referendum was unconstitutional. The big picture: The Friday decision says the amendment process pushed by Democrats violated the state constitution, effectively blocking the effort to redraw congressional maps mid-decade. That's after the state spent $5.2 million to pay for the special election, and outside groups raised nearly $100 million to sway voters. The new map would have been in effect for the November midterms and was expected to shift the state's congressional split from 6-5 favoring Democrats to 10-1. Between the lines: It was a move Democrats said would've countered Republican-led states that redrew districts to add GOP seats in a closely divided U.S. House. Republicans, who have repeatedly sued to block the redistricting vote, have called it extreme, illegal and hyperpartisan. Zoom in: A central part of the case during oral arguments concerned what qualifies as the "next general election" under Virginia's constitution. Virginia law requires amendments to move through two General Assembly sessions: one before the House has an election (last November) and one after. Republicans have argued that lawmakers had improperly advanced the amendment after early voting for the 2025 House elections had already begun. Meanwhile, Democrats have said that an "election" is a single day in November. What they're saying: Siding with Republicans, the high court ruled that Virginia's "general election" includes the early voting period, not just Election Day. That violation "incurably taints" the referendum and invalidates the vote, per the ruling. The other side: Virginia House Speaker Don Scott, a Democrat, said in a statement, "We respect the decision of the Supreme Court of Virginia." But Attorney General Jay Jones blasted the ruling as politically motivated, accusing the court of putting "politics over the rule of law" and "silenc[ing] the voices" of Virginia voters. Jones said his office is reviewing "every legal pathway forward." Context: The state Supreme Court overturning voters' decision is rare, but it happened at least once in 1958, per Cardinal News. The high court ruled that Arlington residents had voted on an unconstitutional law in 1956 and struck down the election results. The intrigue: If Democrats appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, it wouldn't be the first time Virginia election disputes have landed there. In 2024, former Attorney General Jason Miyares won a last-minute U.S. Supreme Court ruling, allowing Virginia to resume its voter purge program days before Election Day.1 point

Absolutely false. True leftists are quite happy with controlling the means of production through regulation and taxation even in a market environment. They're not particularly fussy about how it's controlled as long as it's controlled and they're the ones who do the controlling. You stuck in 1940s thinking and it is you who has no understanding of political history. And currently the party is far left. Especially socially. They seek to control and legislate literally every aspect of what you can think and do and own. You are 100% incorrect Mike. But perhaps not a shock from someone who keeps trying desperately to refer to himself as a conservative1 point

It used to be that the extreme liberal and extreme conservative views were laughed at and ignored. That's no longer true. Today the extreme liberals have taken over the Democrat party. While the extreme conservatives are mad as Hell because the last Democrat government went after them with a smear campaign and spying on them. There are no "classical" liberals anymore. Ok maybe Federman...but the crazy-ass Libbies will destroy him politically. Well...the Democrat party wants to "eat the rich" now. I say, let 'em try. All they'll do is force businesses and thousands of jobs, to move where they are not on the menu. In short...the liberals (Democrats) have gone completely self-destructive and bat-shit crazy. So... I call them "Libbies".1 point

No, the violent terrorism towards jews that always results in a backlash against the Palestinian aggressors has been going on for 80 years now. Just as it did on oct 7 The Palestinians laid down their arms tomorrow they would have peace, if the Jews laid down their arms tomorrow we'd have a second holocaust The Palestinians are always the aggressors and it creates a Jewish response. The sad thing is they're really bad at it so they keep losing badly and then use that as justification for the next wave of violence1 point

Metro Vancouver was highly unaffordable for many in 2015, that's fact. Don't take it personally Kiddo... Vancouver ranked third most unaffordable housing market in the world By Jill Slattery Global News Posted January 22, 2017 4:48 pm Updated January 24, 2017 2:10 pm 2 min read Vancouver has been once again ranked one of the least affordable housing markets in the world, according to an annual survey from Demographia. It was the only Canadian city to crack the top 10 list, coming in third behind Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia out of 406 markets in the world. This is the second year in a row Vancouver ranked third after hitting second place in 2015. The city has been ranked with the worst housing affordability in Canada in all previous Demographia surveys since 2004. Demographia reported Vancouver’s year-over-year price growth was equal to a year of household income in the city. It also mentioned the city experienced a “modest” net domestic out-migration in 2016, meaning more people left the city than moved in. The annual survey has been publishing data on world housing markets relative to household income since 2004, and noted Vancouver has experienced “the greatest housing market deterioration” among all major markets in the world, with its Median Multiple figure – a measure of housing affordability – more than doubling from 5.4 to 11.8 in that time. In the fall of 2016, the UBS Global Real Estate Bubble Index ranked Vancouver with the world’s worst real estate bubble risk thanks to “stimulated Asian demand” and “loose credit conditions.” READ MORE: B.C. real estate data show sharp decline in foreign investment after tax Demographia says Toronto is not far behind Vancouver for growth in housing unaffordability, with the second-fastest growing unaffordability rate, going from 3.9 in 2004 to 7.7 in 2016. READ MORE: Real estate trends 2017: Will Toronto prices catch up to Vancouver’s? On the other side of the coin, cities on the east coast of the United States hit the mark for most affordable housing relative to household income. Racine, Wisconsin is ranked the most affordable with a median home price of $104,000 and a median household income of $58,400. Behind it come Bay City, Michigan; Decatur, Illinois; Elmira, New York; and East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. In Canada, Moncton, New Brunswick was the most affordable housing market with a median price of $134,900, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, New Brunswick. The only other B.C. cities on the list, Kelowna, Fraser Valley and Victoria were all named unaffordable. https://globalnews.ca/news/3198292/vancouver-ranked-third-most-unaffordable-housing-market-in-the-world/1 point

Hamas will never disarm. Those people were raised from kindergarten to hate and kill. It's all they know. Just think how likely it would be for an 8-yr-old girl from a cute little elementary school in Winnipeg to torture and murder women from a music festival... That's how likely it would be for a 30-yr old Gazan to give first aid to a dying Israeli child. Dude: these Gazans CHOOSE to have their own children stay in a war zone and die just to dredge up hatred and bigotry. Until you consider how f'd up you'd have to be in order to think that 'leaving children in a building after the Israelis told you that they are about to blow it up' is a terrific idea, you don't understand what you're working with. They are raised on hatred and bigotry. A lack of humanity is inculcated in them from the time they're born until they die, and their economy and government are centred around it. If you are a soccer player, then becoming a better soccer player and playing in higher leagues makes you more money, and gets you more fame. In Gaza, being more merciless, more cruel, coming up with better ways to murder people horrifically is what makes you rich, powerful and famous. You're still trying to judge those people based on your own criteria, and they don't value your criteria at all.1 point

I love the logic here. "If a person with a robust resume and 15 years experience in government can become a governor, then a has-been reality TV pseudo star with no experience in, well, anything, can be mayor." On a human level, I feel bad for anyone going through hard times--even if they brought it on themselves. But on a judgement level, someone living in a house they can't afford with no insurance should be a red flag or judgement and leadership. Now he "lives" in a trailer. With no real job or skills, I can can see why the Getty House would be appealing. lol But the people of Los Angeles would be fools to cast a vote for someone with no track record or reasonable expectation of qualification.1 point

Rube, tell me about telephony. Only worked in that field since 1982.... They will be able to isolate cell towers to send alerts to only specific towers to message all the phones in one area. That;s what these 'test' alerts are about. It ain't done yet. Otherwise they only needed to do towers along Hwy16, that's the only route out in this case. They just did one a couple weeks back but previous ones didn't hit a lot of phones. My Telus phone gets than but some people on other carriers I know didn't receive them. The system also requires coordination among multiple carriers. It's anything but simple. The aggression is just evil. These people who see 1948 as a tragedy that can only be avenged by a full-blown genocide see 1947's slaughter of 800,000 people as a sweet ethnic cleansing.
